CHAPTER 49: RELAXING NIGHT

(Renesmee Black’s Point Of View)

I felt Jacob get into the bed beside me and as he got comfortable I slowly and carefully turned around. I haven’t been doing much except for eating. I didn’t want to risk my children and I wanted to get all of them stronger.

Jacob went patrolling only once before and that was three days ago. He hasn’t gone since because he told me that he was getting more angry and stressed by phasing so he wasn’t going to do it anymore. Apparently him and Edward went at it and they haven’t talked since.

So he was downstairs talking to the others about plans that they would do. Emmett hasn’t been around much and I could understand why. I was scared for Rosalie too.

So I saw that it was almost eleven at night and so Jacob would be tired, but at least now I could sleep in his arms. I moved over and looked at him. He looked over at me and turned the lamp light on beside him so that he could look at me. I smiled and so did he. He took his shirt off to be more comfortable and he was wearing old sweatpants. I leaned against him and he placed his arm around my shoulders.

“I’m sorry. Did I wake you?” he asked me.

“No. I wasn’t sleeping very good. They’ve been kicking so I’ve been feeling them.” I answered.

He smiled and placed his other hand on my stomach. They weren’t doing it anymore, but it still felt nice. I kissed his shoulder and he rubbed my stomach. I didn’t know what I would do if anything were to happen to Jacob. I couldn’t go through this pregnancy on my own. Whenever there were bad or good times Jacob was there with me. I needed him by my side.

With my other hand I placed it on his far shoulder.

“I got the job.” Jacob said.

“That’s great. A waiter right?” I asked him.

“Yeah. I guess Charlie talked to him and the instant that I was talking to the boss and everything he hired me. I told him my situation and he seemed to understand. Of course I didn’t tell him the number of kids we would be having, but just that you were pregnant.” Jacob said.

“When are you starting?” I asked him.

“Tomorrow.” Jacob answered.

“That’s great Jake.” I told him.

He kissed my forehead and I couldn’t help, but giggle.

“I wish that I could do more to help. Minimum wage won’t do us a lot of money before I have these kids.” I told him.

“It’s better than nothing.” Jacob told me, “I’m going to save every penny.”

I frowned.

“It’ll be hard. Just us and Billy taking care of them. All of them. They wake up every two hours.” I sighed.

“Hey. Look at me.” Jacob said and he let go of my stomach and he gently lifted my chin to face him.

I stared at him and he kissed me. He stared at me and said, “we’re going to make it. We won’t be living on the streets. We won’t be in dept. if I don’t spend any money until you have those kids then we’ll have a lot. Don’t worry about it. And so what if they wake up every two hours. I guess we will too.” Jacob told me, “We’ll make it work.”

I smiled and I kissed him before he let go of my chin. I leaned my head on his shoulder like before and he stroked my hair.

“I like your new pajamas.” Jacob said.

I smiled.

“Leah’s choice.” I smiled.

“Hmm. Good idea.” Jacob said and I giggled.

Jacob went still for a little.

“What?” I asked.

“Leah is saying that she is going to leave. I don’t blame her for it. Sam’s been horrible to her with Demitri and the relationship they have, but I also don’t want her to leave.” Jacob said.

“Where would they go?” I asked him.

“They don’t really know. They just want to get away from here. I think the whole Emily is gone thing is on him now and he just wants to get her back and hates to see others like he would be with her. Kim is gone so Jared can’t act like that and considering that Seth can’t do much with Jessie it doesn’t bother him a lot. So that leaves it down to Leah and Demitri.” Jacob said.

“What about us?” I asked.

Jacob did a hallow laugh.

“He wouldn’t dare do it to me. I’m the rightful alpha and if I wanted to I could take him down. Easy or not he was meant to follow me. Not the other way around. He also knows that I’m on the break of going against him. He doesn’t want to loose that power.” Jacob explained.

“So if you did go up against him then would he have to follow you?” I asked.

“No. He wouldn’t. You can’t have two alphas so there would be two packs. Or me and Paul and Sam’s pack. Although if I did make a new pack then I’m sure Leah would join it too. I couldn’t imagine Seth in that position.” Jacob said.

“Why? Wait…Paul likes Sam more. Why would he join you?” I asked.

“Well he probably would because he imprinted on Rachel. So since Rachel is my sister it would make sense to be under my rules. Seth likes me the best. No doubt. Sam and him get a long, but he likes me better. Sam knows it too, but since Seth imprinted on Beth it would make sense to join Sam’s pack. If there were two. The rest would get to decide what they wanted to do.” Jacob answered.

“What about Quil? I mean, isn’t Claire Emily’s niece?” I asked.

“Yes and again it would make sense, but…it’s confusing. It really is. It’s a matter of principals though.” Jacob answered.

I nodded and relaxed against him.

“Pack leader Jacob.” I whispered and smiled.

“Don’t do that please. I don’t want to be an alpha. I don’t want to break up a family that has been together for…how long? I don’t want to do that.” Jacob said, “but I can’t let Sam do decisions like what he wanted to do with Charlie. Not only that, but he needs to stop with Leah. Enough is enough.”

“What all has Sam done to her?” I asked.

“I mean he couldn’t help the whole imprint thing. Everyone gets that, but they got Leah to be a bridesmaid. She was in tears when they left for their honeymoon. I think she understands Sam’s feelings more now that she has an imprint of her own, but I know that it still hurt. Then she told me that she was there when Emily gave birth to the twins. Demitri said that was hard for her too. Not only that, but Sam won’t take Demitri in and she has known that he was her imprint for years and she stuck it out. For almost twenty years! She suppressed every feeling for almost twenty years. She also lost her father and we’ve all seen painful memories of that. Now she might loose her mother.” Jacob sighed.

“That’s horrible.” I whispered.

“Yeah. She’s tough though. Extremely.” Jacob said.

I nodded and I felt tears come to my eyes as I thought all about what Leah went through. Poor poor Leah. I hope that things go better for her because I would hate for her to do something that she would regret.
