CHAPTER 55: CHARLIE INVOVLED
(Renesmee Black’s Point Of View)
It was the first time in weeks that Emmett had come downstairs. We all stared at him and he barely stared at us. It was as if we were waiting for him to snap. Edward even put his arm around my shoulders just in case Emmett lost it. I could see that his eyes were black. It was two days after I had my talk with Jacob and ever since then our nights have been a lot better.
“I’m going for a hunt.” Emmett said to us.
“I’ll go with you.” Jasper and Carlisle said at the same time.
They stared at each other.
“Both Jasper and I will go with you.” Carlisle said.
They nodded and Emmett stared at Noelle. Noelle shrank a little and Emmett then looked away. Though Emmett’s stare wasn’t angry it shook up Noelle enough for her to leave the room before Emmett. After watching her leave Emmett left the house and Carlisle and Jasper followed him.
Once those three were gone Edward relaxed.
“I’m going to go check on Noelle.” Edward told me.
I nodded and as he left the room I rolled my way with the wheelchair to the living room. Once I left the kitchen Esme helped me to the couch and she helped me onto the couch. After that was done I turned on the television and Leah sat beside me.
“Hey.” Leah said.
“What’s going on?” I asked her.
“Nothing much.” Leah answered.
“Are things going well between you and Demitri?” I asked.
“They are better. Sam’s still being rude about the situation.” Leah answered.
There was a knock on the door before it opened. I looked up to see Jacob. I smiled and he took off his boots and called out that he was home before coming to me. He kissed my cheek and hugged me.
“Did you have a good day?” I asked him.
“Great.” Jacob answered.
I smiled. Leah said she would get something so she left the couch. Jacob took her spot and wrapped his arms around me.
“How are things here?” he asked me.
“Good.” I said.
He smiled and soon there was another knock at the door. It was more like a harsh bang though. That was strange. I hadn’t even hear anyone come up the driveway.
“I got it.” Edward called and he went to the door.
I got the surprise of my life when Edward opened the door and I saw Charlie there. Charlie was red with anger. Almost like a tomato red. I’ve never seen Charlie angry before and it did not look nice.
“Charlie?” I asked.
“Where is Carlisle?” Charlie asked Edward.
Almost everyone came in to see what was going on.
“Well no wonder I couldn’t find anyone else.” Charlie growled, “now where is Carlisle?”
“He’s out with Jasper and Emmett. What is going on?” Edward asked.
“Esme?” Charlie asked looking at her.
Esme came forward. Everyone was silent.
“I have the feeling that something has happened to Rosalie.” Charlie said.
“I don’t know what you mean.” Esme said immediately and Edward wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
“Then I want you to explain why I got this in my mail.” Charlie growled and he took a picture out of his pocket.
Esme took it after he handed it to her and when she saw the picture she gasped.
“I have a feeling that something happened to Rosalie. Not only that, but I want you all to explain to me why Billy and Sue never return my phone calls and why Rebecca never calls her husband anymore.” Charlie growled.
“Charlie it’s best to stay out of it.” Edward said and he fully hugged Esme.
Jacob got off the couch and I stumbled into my wheelchair so that I could get closer too.
When Charlie saw Jacob he pointed his finger.
“You lied to me.” Charlie said.
“Calm yourself.” Jacob said.
“I will stay calm when I find out what is going on!” Charlie growled.
I went up to Esme and gently pried the picture out of her hand to see Rosalie in it. I gasped myself. Rosalie was bound and gagged and though I could see that she tried to hide it she looked scared. I turned it over and saw in messy black ink a sentence that said, “don’t let her pay for your mistakes.”
