CHAPTER 63: GREAT SCARE

(Renesmee Black’s Point Of View)

Claire and Quil wanted to be left alone so they were going to their house. Before they left I told Claire how proud of her I was.

Everyone else was coming here and everyone was getting ready for bed since it was around eleven o’clock. We thought that it would be better to put the video on at night because we were sure that at that time Irina would be more likely to see it. They would be playing it every hour of the night until we get Claire’s kids back.

I was beginning to be tired and I almost fell asleep on the way home. EJ and Edward sat in the front while I was in the back with Jacob. I was getting so tired that I could barely keep my eyes open. The only reason that I could was because on the way home I had a weird feeling in my stomach. It was hard to explain because it felt like it was twisted, but I didn’t feel sick or weak either.

When we got home Jacob carried me into my room and he then laid me out on my bed. I stared up at him and when I tried to get up to change, he gently pushed my back down and kissed my cheek. I closed my eyes and tried to figure out what was wrong with my stomach. I felt Jacob take off my clothes and put me in some of my pajamas. After I was comfortable he picked me up and then placed me under the covers. I snuggled into them and held my stomach.

Pretty soon Jacob was in the bed beside me in a pair of sweat pants. I felt a smile on my face as he then wrapped his arms around me as well and he had his arms on top of mine and over my stomach as well.

“Jacob?” I asked him.

“I’m here. You can go to sleep now.” Jacob told me gently.

“I want to ask you a question.” I told him.

“Ask away Carlie.” Jacob told me.

I took his hands and placed them on my stomach.

“Do you want to start thinking of names? We have to do it sooner or later. I know my family will be asking and all of them will suggest names and it will just be worse. Our baby shower is the beginning of next month.” I told him, “that’s three weeks.”

“Well…if you really want. I guess that it would be a good thing to get an idea. They will be coming soon and we need to be prepared.” Jacob told me, “I was going to make it a surprise, but now that we are talking about the babies and things like that…I planned on taking two days off next week.”

I was so surprised that I even opened my eyes.

“Really?” I asked.

“Yeah. I know you are surprised, but I wanted to do something with you. I thought that the first day that I was off that we could go shopping for baby clothes and cribs. The major things that need to be done before the kids come since we can get diapers and food on the way home.” Jacob said and I giggled, “I thought that on the second day we could have a lunch or dinner out and then we could see a movie in Seattle or something like that.”

I closed my eyes and relaxed again.

“That would be really nice.” I told him.

“Okay. So we could think of names tomorrow. I think that you are a little too tired now.” he said.

I sighed and then nodded off to sleep with the weird feeling still in my stomach.

*

I woke up in the middle of the night with a wet feeling. I felt really really weird now. My stomach was softly aching and it was still twisted. There was also a large thought in my head telling me that something wasn’t right.

I didn’t know what it was, but I felt so scared and wrong about something.

The clock in front of me told me that it was two in the morning. Jacob was now laying on the other side of the bed and had his back to me. I sighed and when I went to turn around in my bed and get in a more comfortable position, I realized that there was a liquid beneath me.

I already knew that something was wrong. I surely couldn’t have broke my water without realizing it and wouldn’t I also be in pain?

I quickly turned on the lamp light beside me. For a second I had to let my eyes adjust and when they were I looked over to see Jacob still sleeping. I then placed my hand on the wet spot beneath me to see the colour. I was surprised the liquid was warm so it was recent. Maybe my water did break and that was what woke me up.

But when I pulled my hand back up I gasped when I saw the colour.

It was red.

I was bleeding.

I was wide awake now as I then began to push Jacob with my other hand.

“Jake! Jacob!” I said.

He turned over and was stunned a little by the light before he said, “Carlie? What’s wrong?”

“Jacob I’m bleeding.” I told him and he then started to be awake and he said, “I’ll get a tissue.”

“No Jacob!” I said worriedly, “I’m bleeding!”

He got it the second time. His eyes went wide and he also was now wide awake. I began panting worriedly and Jacob jumped out of bed and slammed open the door and screamed, “CARLISLE!”

Jacob then came back over to me and a second later Carlisle, EJ, Esme, and Edward came into the room.

“What’s wrong?” Carlisle asked.

Jacob placed his arms around me.

“I’m bleeding.” I said worriedly.

Carlisle immediately went into doctor mode.

“Did this just happen?” he asked as he then moved the blankets so that he looked at the covers.

I was horrified to see that there was a little bit of a puddle. It was like PMS.

“I don’t know. I was fine when I went to bed.” I said.

“Do you feel any pain?” Carlisle asked.

“No, but I feel weird.” I admitted, “like a twist in the stomach, but I don’t feel sick.”

I heard others coming up to investigate and I also heard Jessie and Beth crying.

“We’re going to take her to the hospital.” Carlisle said.

Before the words came out of his mouth Jacob had me in his arms and was carrying me downstairs and rushed me into the car.
