Prologue: an End to a Short Beginning.
"Give me three reasons why I should not destroy you where you stand." I did not dare raise my head, instead continuing to bow my head on my knees. I knew what I had done, and it was something that in this city was only punishable only by death. To die from my queen would be more of an honor than a simple execution. I was ready to die.
"There are no reasons Your Kindness." I said simply. I reminded myself that I was ready for such a time. I had been ready from the second it started.
"Then I suppose it really must be helpless?" I stayed silent, before opening my mouth again.
"Yes, Your Kindness." I heard a short chuckle.
"My Necko, you are exactly as they have told me. You're very responsible, though I still have no idea why you did this. Would you care to explain to me?" I took a breath.
"It is pointless Your Kindness, I am ready to accept my punishment." I answered.
"That was not a question. I advise you tell me, since I am giving you more time to live. I just wish to understand you, is that too much to ask?"
I swallowed my spit. "No Your Kindness, it is not."
"Then begin." My mouth now dry, I took another breath.
"I had to help the children live, even at the cost of my life. The underground tournaments provided me with money, plenty of money in fact. I had more than enough to feed them for as long as I needed to. I knew that if I was found doing this, I would be killed. I had no problem with this, the fact was that I wanted them to live on. I can't go without helping someone in need Your Kindness."
"Ah, I see. You really are helpless. Why would you disgrace the Heaven's Blade, and the Syharden technique just to help them?"
I knew what was going to happen, so I made my last stand. "I did it because I had too."
"So if you were to die now, you would die happy, no?"
"Yes Your Kindness."
She sighed. "Raise your head."
I did as she asked, now looking at her. Still a bit intimidated, I looked more towards her feet.
"Necko, it is me you are to look at." I looked up more to meet her ember green eyes. Her blonde hair complemented her name, giving her an angelic like appearance. This was my first time looking directly at her, and even so, you would have thought I saw a ghost.
"Mystified? I have that affect on men you may say. I don't want to kill you, and in fact I won't. If however, I did not take any action, and instead left it be, I would be in violation of the rule set my own great grandmother." She took a deep breath, her chest expanding, and the robe in which she was wearing seemed as if a white sky expanding..
"I have decided that you will be banished from the city." The news came as a shock. Not because I was to be banished, but more or less because I was permitted to live. It was nothing like I had expected, coming to die, yet instead being given another chance.
"You cannot return, I know it's difficult, but you will have to manage. You have time to gather all your things, and of course you are no longer a heavens blade, but you must continue on to somewhere else. I have to do this, because humans must never know of a Heaven's Blades true power. It would cause panic, and disruption."
"I understand, Your Kindness."
"Excellent. Collect your things. A roaming bus may come to collect you within the next day or so."
"Yes, Your Kindness."
"Now leave from my presence, and never return." It may have seemed harsh, but her words came out soft, and almost with a sympathetic kind of sadness.
I stood, turn, and walked out. Opening the doubled sided doors, I walked out into the sunlight.
This world in which I live, I thought was over.
But perhaps is was just the end of my short beginning.
