Leaving Amber

Novel By: ShaunaLeigh
Fan fiction

Beyond the impossible...an imprint broken...a soul flitting back and forth...another familiar with loss...forgiving the unforgivable...and leaving her behind- forever.

When former members of Sam’s pack return, a pack of their own is not the only thing they bring. Kyle’s imprint Amber may have convinced everyone to accept them, but the girl who brought them together turns out to be tearing the new pack apart. All comes to the surface when Ryan attacks her for leaving him for imprint, something Leah Clearwater is all too familiar with.
With Amber dying and coming back to life, the battle against permanent death is becoming more and more difficult. The only thing that can save her is what most wolves consider a death sentence in itself- vampire venom. Kyle has to decide whether to let Amber live a life without him as a vampire, or the other option of waiting on the ultimately unavoidable.

Chapter 17- Leah Clearwater

How could it have broken? Amber's alive isn't she? Cameron asked.
Amber died. She came back to life but she did die, and when she died it broke. An imprint breaking is a permanent thing so even when she came back it made no difference, I said. It was simple, plain and easy to understand. Not that it made it any easier to take in.
I'm not going to pretend I hadn't noticed the eyes on me when I arrived. They were going to be curious. Why is the girly wolf here? I wasn't going to answer. I didn't even care what they thought of me being so close to Kyle's side. It was clear I was there for him but they didn't get it. Who is she to him? Of all people why girl wolf?
Leah Clearwater, said Jake like an introduction. Like it made it any better now that they knew my name.
Hey weren't you with Sam Uley years back? I heard someone ask.
I heard vicious growling from somewhere. I glanced around only to see Kyle, teeth bared at the pack member who'd spoken. Cameron had growled too and I looked at him startled before I turned to Kyle again
Kyle its okay, I said, alarmed.
No it's not. Nothing's okay, not a single thing.
He paused and an image flashed through his mind.
Kyle what did I just see in your head? Cameron said sharply.
We could see Amber lying on a bed but she didn't look alive at all. She was white with blue lips and she wasn't moving. She wasn't breathing. She looked like she'd been carved from marble or ice. There were tubes stuck into her skin. It was like he tried telling me when we were in the water at First Beach. Amber was dead.
Amber died for a moment like Leah just told you, but that's not all. I haven't been straight with any of you. I tried telling Leah earlier but...Amber's dead. Carlisle had to do something, so he's trying this procedure. He's...frozen her. She's dead until he revives her again, and that's if he can.
No one else caught it but I did. I saw it in his mind for that split second. There was a time limit. It was...sick. Like some limited offer- if you want me to revive her you better tell me to go ahead with it before time runs out. Then it's too bad, the offer is no longer valid.
But- what if he can? I protested over the shouts of "frozen!" and "bloodsucker" What if he does revive her? What if when she's alive you imprint again or something?
You said it yourself. An imprint breaking is a permanent thing, he closed his eyes, I've got two options and it all depends on whether Carlisle can revive her.
He didn't look like he was going to tell us what those options were and I had a feeling I already knew. I prayed it wasn't what he told me, that he didn't have to let her become a vampire.Everyone was quiet until Jacob spoke up. He addressed Cameron more than anyone else because he was the one that he needed to convince.
You probably won't agree with this- well I don't know, you didn't seem to mind before, but I think we need to talk with the Cullen's.
I only agreed before because Amber was in danger, but look what they've done to her now! She's dead. I'm not putting my pack at risk; I almost stopped Kyle from going back to those bloodsuckers.
That's my family you're talking about, said Jake stiffly.
Well, vampires then. I'm sorry Jake but I don't want anything to do with them.
You don't think I should either do you? You think I'm endangering my pack.
Yes I do-
The Cullen's are good people. Carlisle's done more good in the world than anyone I know- he's the closest thing to a saint you'll ever meet. I knew Bella when she was human and she's no different now. I imprinted on her daughter and Edward didn't even tear me to pieces. Do you want me to go on?
I get that your imprint means-
You think you're so high and mighty with this whole calm leader act you put on, but I've dealt with your type, and I think you know who I'm talking about-!
Oh shut up! I shouted.
They were stalking closer and closer towards each other like the testosterone filled morons they were. Seeing as I was the only girl there it was only natural I'd be the one sensible enough to stop them biting each others heads off.
Now isn't the time for Pack Wars okay? I said before turning to Cameron, I don't like the Cullen's either, just rack my brains if you don't believe me, but they're definitely not an issue. I hate to say it but there's nothing wrong with them apart from the whole being a leech thing.
I've spoken to them Cam. They're not going to hurt us, Kyle said.
I want to believe you. I don't want to have to stop you but you don't know them Kyle, he replied in a pained way.
Leah and Jake do and I'm starting to. I had a conversation with Alice today-
Did that one conversation tell you that they're harmless? Remember what happened before you changed? You were taught about vampires early enough Kyle.
Ugh honestly, I interrupted, if Kyle of all people is fine with going then why can't you be? We have to talk to them, especially Carlisle. We need old and wise and he ticks both boxes.
Cameron was staring at Kyle and I wish I didn't know why. Kyle was thinking about his conversation with Alice, when she told him what it was like to be a vampire. He was thinking of how much he didn't want to admit the Cullen's were harmless because of what Carlisle asked him to decide.
You're going to let them turn Amber into a bloodsucker?
If Carlisle can revive her and she has...difficulties like he said then yes, I might let him change her. I've got to consider my options here Cam.
I can't believe they'd even think about asking-
Well why don't you voice your concerns to Carlisle? I asked. You want to know what's up with him bringing Amber back from the dead right? And then you need to know what's with her becoming a vampire if he does?
Carlisle can give you answers. I need to go back there eventually anyway. I don't know what could happen if she was alive again, not for certain and Carlisle might, Kyle said.
I've been wondering about that. What would happen if Amber was alive and didn't have any issues? What if she doesn't have to become a vampire? Could you be together without the imprint? Iasked.
I don't know. I don't know if it would be the same. Imprint is the most complex thing. Who knows how this will work out?
Do you think it could work?
Sam's coming, Jake interrupted, he's suspicious about us meeting with their pack and he wants to know what's going on.
Crap we better get to the Cullen's before he finds out. If he knew Amber was dead and frozen, and Carlisle wants Kyle to let her become a bloodsucker...
I don't even want to think about it.
