Leaving Amber

Novel By: ShaunaLeigh
Fan fiction

Beyond the impossible...an imprint broken...a soul flitting back and forth...another familiar with loss...forgiving the unforgivable...and leaving her behind- forever.

When former members of Sam’s pack return, a pack of their own is not the only thing they bring. Kyle’s imprint Amber may have convinced everyone to accept them, but the girl who brought them together turns out to be tearing the new pack apart. All comes to the surface when Ryan attacks her for leaving him for imprint, something Leah Clearwater is all too familiar with.
With Amber dying and coming back to life, the battle against permanent death is becoming more and more difficult. The only thing that can save her is what most wolves consider a death sentence in itself- vampire venom. Kyle has to decide whether to let Amber live a life without him as a vampire, or the other option of waiting on the ultimately unavoidable.

Chapter 22- Kyle Clinn

"It's impossible," said Sam angrily.
"No it's not," Leah muttered.
Billy leaned back, his russet skin suddenly a shade paler. He coughed and composed himself before speaking gravely in his deep powerful voice.
"Leah's right. We all know it's possible. It's happened once before, a long time ago. A pack member accidentally killed the object of another member's imprint. There was a fight to the death. The member who killed the girl was killed. Unfortunately the member who lost his imprint also died in the fight."
I wouldn't call it unfortunate. I would've been happy to die. Everyone exchanged dark looks. Sam looked like he was going to be sick. He had to listen to this knowing he almost killed his own imprint. I couldn't muster enough strength to hate him at that moment.
"There was no fight this time dad. Ryan's long gone," said Jake.
"We looked for him but he's probably on his way to Canada or something. He probably won't show his face here again," said Cam.
"This is like nothing I've ever seen before. He's still alive...and Amber?"
"She will be, hopefully. She's dead now from the method the doctor's trying. But he's going to try to revive her. He's trying right now," I said.
Everyone was staring at me. I wanted to hit them for it but my limbs felt heavier. It felt like there was a weight pressing down on my chest, my shoulder and my heart. Was this what I was going to feel like for the rest of my life? Was I just going to have to deal with feeling like a zombie and not feeling like it was worth even waking up in the morning? If only Ryan hadn't run and the fight had happened. I could've gotten killed and it would've solved everything. If only Leah hadn't stopped me from drowning myself. The only way to fix things when life doesn't mean anything is to die.
"I'm sorry Kyle but I have to ask. If Carlisle manages to revive Amber what will happen? I'm assuming that something's changed now that the imprint has broken," said Billy awkwardly.
"You could say that," I replied.
"I hope it works out for you son, honestly I do. No one deserves this. I know we'll all be praying for her revival," said Billy.
There was murmured agreement. Leah sighed quietly and looked at me.
"Tell them. Now, before I do," she said.
"I told you that Alice had a vision about Amber being brain damaged. She had a few visions and they all told her if Amber was human she'd be that way. I don't want that. If the doctor can bring her back and it's true I can't leave her like that, it wouldn't be right. So the only other option other than death is Amber becoming a vampire."
Billy's eyebrows shot up then pulled together. He cleared his throat.
"Before we talk about this, have you thought it through? Have you thought about what you'll be doing to Amber, letting Carlisle turn her into a vampire? No disrespect Nessie honey," he added.
She shrugged as best as she could in Jake's arms. "I keep telling you Billy, it doesn't bother me."
I looked Billy in the eyes.
"Nothing's been decided yet Billy but I need to know. It's a possibility. Please," I asked.
Billy sighed and looked between Sam and Jacob.
"Well which one of you is going to give the Cullen's permission?"
Sam stood up but before even Emily could stop him from saying what he was going to I spoke. I got up off the log. It was so much effort to stand and to even just open my mouth to speak.
"Believe it or not Sam I do know what I'm doing."
Sam ignored him and turned to Cameron. "Are you going to let him do this?"
"Are you saying I should stop him?" he replied.
"See this is where it gets complicated right Cam? It's your hatred of me versus your hatred of vampires."
"He can do what he wants. No one knows what's better for Amber than him. Plus he'd never forgive me," Cameron said harshly.
"Something tells me you're only saying that. I know you Cam. You don't want this any more than I do."
He left with Emily. Nessie stared after them thoughtfully before turning to Cameron.
"You hate vampires?" she asked.
He wouldn't answer so she looked at me. I tried to ignore her but I felt like I had to look at her to answer her. I was surprised when I finally realised why Bella had looked so familiar- she must be Nessie's mother. They look too similar. So Bella must have had Nessie when she was still human and that's how she's a hybrid. Bella loved a vampire and now the girl I loved could be about to become one, if Carlisle could bring her back to life.
"I've lost friends to vampires but honestly, your family seem as good as vampires get."
She nodded like she was satisfied and Jacob mouthed good answer over her head. Billy looked at me like he was reading my mind. His eyes made me feel like he really was. He turned to Jacob.
"Jake, do your father a favour and give the Cullen's your permission to change Amber."
"Sure, sure, I'll tell them. I would have anyway but we needed to tell you. This is only the second time an imprint has ever broken so," his face darkened, "I knew you had to know."
"Thank you-" I began but Billy cut across me.
"Don't rush your decision okay? I can see it's eating you up son. Don't do anything you don't feel a hundred percent about. I know whatever you decide, you'll decide what's best for that poor girl."
I went to get up when I saw Leah's face. I hadn't heard it ring but she had her phone pressed to her ear and Seth was looking at her anxiously.
"It's Carlisle. He says we need to get over there now."
