Leaving Amber

Novel By: ShaunaLeigh
Fan fiction

Beyond the impossible...an imprint broken...a soul flitting back and forth...another familiar with loss...forgiving the unforgivable...and leaving her behind- forever.

When former members of Sam’s pack return, a pack of their own is not the only thing they bring. Kyle’s imprint Amber may have convinced everyone to accept them, but the girl who brought them together turns out to be tearing the new pack apart. All comes to the surface when Ryan attacks her for leaving him for imprint, something Leah Clearwater is all too familiar with.
With Amber dying and coming back to life, the battle against permanent death is becoming more and more difficult. The only thing that can save her is what most wolves consider a death sentence in itself- vampire venom. Kyle has to decide whether to let Amber live a life without him as a vampire, or the other option of waiting on the ultimately unavoidable.

Leah Clearwater
Guess what? There's a freak show on my doorstep and I don't even have to pay.
"Leah, could you hurry up please?" Quil shouted.
"Politeness doesn't register in Leah's brain Quil," said Embry.
"Oh right sorry dude. Leah, hurry up or you'll get a butt kicking."
"No, no. Empty threats amuse her. She'll never come out now."
"Why couldn't Seth stay long enough to open the door for us?"
Did you know that idiocy is actually pretty tiring? They'd been at it for ages. I wasn't doing it to annoy them. I just hadn't decided whether or not I was going to be difficult today. Okay, I was definitely going to be difficult, but it wasn't official until I'd annoyed the hell out of some morons, and these morons were always at hand. I threw on some clothes before I ran down the stairs and opened the door.
"How old are you, five?" I snorted as I came out.
"I wish Quil was. Or maybe it would be better if he was my age. He'd spend more time with me," pouted Claire.
"Excellent, you brought the runt."
"How old will I be when you quit calling me that? It's been years."
"Aw don't worry Claire. You'll always be the runt to me," I smirked striding ahead of them.
Actually she'd be the runt until she was old enough to realise. Until the day Quil tells her why he was always forever willing to play skipping rope with her during her childhood, and didn't even complain when his arms were about to drop off. Then all fun would end.
I was tempted to break into a run but even I could see it was pointless. Running wouldn't make the day much more bearable. It would still be a day filled with things I didn't want to do, but had to. All that would be different was that I'd have to do them that much sooner. There was no one decent to race against. Quil and Embry were no challenge at all.
"Is it really that much of a drag to walk with us Leah?" Quil asked.
"Let her, I don't mind. She's really mean to me," Claire told him.
I knew exactly what to expect of today. The yet to be introduced Kyle and Amber would thank whoever cared to listen while I tried not to throw up. Jake and Sam would probably talk a lot about how we should treat them like family, even if they did ditch Sam and his pack. All because Amber, who I'm so dying not to meet, had to turn up and make Kyle a gormless worshipper.
And they say I'm too harsh.
We reached the edge of the woods where Jacob told me to meet him. Thank God that Quil Embry and the runt were heading in another direction. He stood with another guy who was just as huge who I guessed was a member of the new pack. I'd recently discovered that the pack's Alpha was called Cameron and I wondered if this was him. He was certainly tall enough though not quite as tall as Jacob. I sighed as I approached them.
"What am I being forced to do against my will?" I asked and the guy frowned.
"Is this another 'let's try and show up Jake' day?" Jacob asked.
"Why, whatever do you mean most high and powerful Alpha?"
"Yeah I thought so," he laughed, "Kyle this is Leah. She's second in command."
"Aha," he said arrogantly.
"Where's the other half?" I frowned.
What was he doing here with me instead of being with his imprint? If Sam could then he'd be with Emily 24/7 and Jacob definitely tries to be with Renesmee as much as possible. I mean why else would a wolf worry about staying out too late?
"Amber's with Cameron and Ryan's brother's watching him like a hawk. Kyle's with you," Jake nodded towards me.
"Uh, any reason why?" I eyed Kyle.
"That would be their business. That's it then," he shrugged.
"Wait, he's with me?" I asked.
"Kyle's Cameron's beta, so I thought, why not?"
"That's like when parents put their kids together and think they'll get along great because they're all gap toothed and around the same age," I spat.
"Well then I guess this is a good time to remind you to be good and play nice," he smirked at my expression.
"Expect a 'let's show up Jake' week," I said venomously.
"She's quite a character isn't she?" Jake thumped him on the shoulder. "Have fun."
Now there's this really arrogant guy standing in front of me eyeing me like I'm from the same stock as Quil and or Embry. And I don't like him.
