Leaving Amber

Novel By: ShaunaLeigh
Fan fiction

Beyond the impossible...an imprint broken...a soul flitting back and forth...another familiar with loss...forgiving the unforgivable...and leaving her behind- forever.

When former members of Sam’s pack return, a pack of their own is not the only thing they bring. Kyle’s imprint Amber may have convinced everyone to accept them, but the girl who brought them together turns out to be tearing the new pack apart. All comes to the surface when Ryan attacks her for leaving him for imprint, something Leah Clearwater is all too familiar with.
With Amber dying and coming back to life, the battle against permanent death is becoming more and more difficult. The only thing that can save her is what most wolves consider a death sentence in itself- vampire venom. Kyle has to decide whether to let Amber live a life without him as a vampire, or the other option of waiting on the ultimately unavoidable.

Kyle Clinn

"I don't like you," she said for the twentieth time.
"I always did suck at first impressions," I smiled proudly.
After that huge bust up with Ryan I'd been sent to 'cool off' as Amber put it, with some girl wolf from Jake's pack. I was furious about Cameron agreeing I had to be sent into the naughty corner, but I couldn't be mad at Amber. She was always right. On the way here I was such an idiot, swearing my head off and threatening anyone who looked at me. Now I was just annoyed. I was perfectly calm now so why couldn't I go back and see Amber?
Maybe that's why I was going out of my way to be rude to this wolf girl, seeing as I had no one else to take out my irritation on. Leah, Jake's beta, was a permanently angry, scowling girl, who wasn't afraid to tear her own Alpha's head off.
"I think it's more to do with you being very unlike able," she grimaced, "trust me, we were never going to get along."
"Wow, impressive prediction. Is there any reason why?"
"You being you, and me being me," she said simply, "is that simple enough for you new boy?"
I quit wondering whether or not it was worth asking her if she could find out where Amber was. It's not as much fun angering an already angry person but still, I wasn't going to go and say sorry to Amber until she said I could. It was only fair I respect what she asked of me and she'd give in and come find me soon enough anyway.
"Well, I still haven't decided whether or not I like you. I don't know you well enough yet." I said thoughtfully.
"Does it surprise you I'm not exactly dying to get to know you?"
"Why are you second in command?" I asked again.
Her hands clenched into fists and the corners of my mouth lifted. She hated me asking that question.
"Well, it's not because I have the Alpha wrapped around my little finger. It's definitely not that," she said in a high pitched girly voice.
"Did I mention I'm impatient?" I muttered, throwing a stick against a tree.
"Did I mention I kick ass?" she hissed, dropping the strange imitation.
"Oh come on just tell me why you're second in command," I huffed.
"Because girls aren't allowed to be Alpha's, so I had to drop rank," she joked, kicking leaves out of her way.
"You're killing me."
"I'm going to," she threatened, back to normal again.
Maybe that's what Jacob meant when he said on the way here that a fight would cheer her up. Either the guy already knows how patronising I am, or this Leah girl is always very irritable. Maybe it was a bit of both.
"Hey? Be serious."
"I'm good okay- real good. I'm fast," she said seriously.
"I'll believe it when I see it. Want to race?" I asked. She didn't answer. She was looking off into the distance, frowning.
"Jake, what's happened?" she said suddenly.
I turned to face the same direction and saw Jacob come running up with Cameron.
"Cameron what's up man?" I asked while jogging up to them.
"Have you seen Amber?" he asked hurriedly.
"What do you mean have I seen her, she said she'd talk to me later remember?" I laughed, softening at the thought of her debating whether to come find me or not.
"Kyle you know what she's like," Cameron said with serious eyes.
"Yeah I know," I said, "do you mean she went looking for me?"
"She did, less than quarter of an hour ago. I let her know where you were," he said quietly.
I was still waiting for him to say something to clear my confusion. The words that were coming out of his mouth about my Amber weren't right when paired with his expression. It reminded me of how I always heard Ryan think of Amber, but with such different feelings towards his thoughts of her than mine.
"Well what's the problem, she should be here in a second right?" I said blankly.
"Leah we've got to go," Jake threw at her.
When I turned she was looking at me with an expression as confused as mine. It didn't take long before rage burned through me, adamant to get a satisfying answer or response.
"What the hell is the problem here Cameron?" I demanded.
"Tobias hasn't seen Ryan since half past," he admitted, defeated.
I burst out of my clothes and launched into the forest.
