Night, awake, and alone
Stuck, on this spot
Cannot move, cannot think
Cannot speak
It's all a blur
Around me
Music's loud
people laugh
Did I hear a scream?
Something crawling on my skin
I lie in my bed
Unable to function
Totally inept
from my own emotions
Nothing to do but wait
Waiting takes too long
It hurts me
Burns me, bruises, bloodies me
The crippling inaction
That stems from this
Seemingly unbreakable fear
Fear from the endless
shadows of the night.
Shaking like a dry leaf in the wind
Not knowing where it will take me
Mind playing tricks
I know
The end feels near
The adventures
of a new day
A new light, new hope
The sun is breaking through
the tinted glass of my window.
A smile crosses my face
I made it to another day
Free from the chains of the dark
Until we meet again.
