HOME FOR THE BLIND. 2009

A normal day. The blind people are being... blind, with a
doctor around.

A weeping angel stands at the window, in weeping position.

A woman puts down an audio book, smiling.

WOMAN
I do love a happy ending!

MAN
I prefer biographies, you're
guaranteed to end with a death.

The weeping angel is gone.

SHOT ENTIRELY ON WOMAN.

WOMAN
Well you would, wouldn't you
Arthur?

Silence.

WOMAN
Arthur? Hello?

More silence.

SHOT REVEALS A WEEPING ANGEL STANDING IN FRONT OF
WOMAN. SHE IS ALONE IN THE ROOM OTHERWISE.

WOMAN
Arthur!!

The weeping angel moves forward, and grabs her-

A Doctor walks in.

DOCTOR
What's that!?

The weeping angel doesn't move - obviously.

The doctor blinks.

Suddenly the weeping angel is facing him.

DOCTOR
What the... ?

He blinks again.

The angel is standing, holding out its arm.

DOCTOR
So... you move every time I blink?

The angel's hand is directed straight at him.

DOCTOR
And... ah... my eyes...

He yawns.

DOCTOR
I'm... so... sleeeppppyyyy...

His eyes close.

SLASH-

FLASH-

The weeping angel is alone in the room.

CUT TO:

HOME FOR THE BLIND

Caption reads: '15 minutes later'

The Tenth Doctor is looking around, buzzing with his sonic
screwdriver. It is deserted.

THE DOCTOR
Definitely time energy. Whatever
sent me here had a reason.

He turns, as if to explain something to a companion. He
sighs.

THE DOCTOR
I wonder...

He buzzes some more.

THE DOCTOR
There's another trace... something
else.

He checks the readings.

THE DOCTOR
Beta astrophysical word
transference? That went out of
fashion centuries ago! Still, I
should be able to translate the
message.

He turns.

THE DOCTOR
Like shining a pen over invisible
ink-

Nobody's there.

He sighs again, and buzzes the wall.

Words appear.

"Hello Sweetie xx -Prof. Song"

The Doctor stares at it, slightly scared.

OPENING CREDITS.

CUT TO:

HOSPITAL WARD. 1940.

An air raid is ensuing outside. Flashes and explosions,
etc-

It is CROWDED. Lots of panicked talking.

NURSE
We have another 7 more coming in!

DOCTOR
Good grief, where are they coming
from?

A man falls over.

DOCTOR
All blind?

NURSE
Yes. Just found out on the street,
calling out.

DOCTOR
Have the Germans invented blinding
bombs now? Get them all to beds-

NURSE
There are none left, what with the
injuries and-

FLASH

DOCTOR
Gets cloths for the floor then! I
have patients to attend to!

He storms away.

A woman trips over.

Nurse despairs.

OPENING CREDITS.

CUT TO:

HOME FOR THE BLIND.

THE DOCTOR
She isn't going to call me that
every time, is she?

He casually turns around. A weeping angel is standing 1
meter from him.

THE DOCTOR
Woah!

He leaps back.

THE DOCTOR
So you're behind this?

It doesn't move.

THE DOCTOR
I know how this works, you can't
move if I look at you...

He gets a thought.

THE DOCTOR
The problem is, I can hear one
sneaking up behind me.

SHOT SHOWS A WEEPING ANGEL BEHIND HIM.

The Doctor turns to face it. The original angel begins
moving...

The Doctor turns back - original angel freezes. Angel 2
moves.

The Doctor whips out a mirror. Both angels freeze.

RIVER
I wouldn't do that if I were you-

The Doctor spins around, ignoring the angels.

RIVER
Don't worry, I've got them
covered. But Time Lords last
longer without blinking, so I'll
need your help soon.

THE DOCTOR
Yes - right.

The Doctor moves from the angels and stands next to River.

PAN TO:

1940.

The room is dark.

BOOM!

NURSE
Doctor Mayer, they say they're from
the year 2009. One of them thought
they'd been taken for a walk, sir.

DOCTOR MAYER
So the Germans have some kind of
gas that makes one become insane?

NURSE
Most of them say the same story,
sir.

DOCTOR MAYER
But it doesn't make sense!

CUT TO:

HOME FOR THE BLIND.

THE DOCTOR
Why can't I use a mirror?

RIVER
You'll find out one day.

The Doctor glares at her.

RIVER
I love it when you do that.

THE DOCTOR
(changing the subject -
annoyed)
How many are there?

RIVER
Only these two as far as I can tell
but there may be more. Did you
like my message?

THE DOCTOR
Oh, yes, very vintage.

She gets out her diary.

RIVER
Let's see...

THE DOCTOR
(looking at angels)
You're doing this now?

RIVER
Oh, these must definitely be early
days for you. You'll learn that
this is vital, to avoid
spoilers. So let's see... Have we
done the Bone meadows yet?

The Doctor shakes his head.

RIVER
Hm... I get very confused as to
your personal time line. The
Opening Of The Pandorica?

The Doctor scoffs.

THE DOCTOR
The pandorica? No, and I highly
doubt I ever will!

RIVER
We'll see... Well, what about...

She looks at him.

RIVER
On your own, are you?

THE DOCTOR
Yeah, I've... I've been trying that
out. You know, I like my own
company.

RIVER
Ah, yes, you told me about your
'emo' period. The knocking and all
that?

THE DOCTOR
Hush-

RIVER
Touchy subject?

THE DOCTOR
No, I meant shut up!

They listen.

The light bulb flickers and buzzes.

RIVER
But that won't make much
difference... It's daylight
outside!

The Doctor nods towards the window. She turns - with the
Doctor looking at the angels.

The window is slowly turning black, darkening the room.

RIVER
They're increasing the opaque
frequency! Any ideas?

THE DOCTOR
Yeah. Um. Run!

They run - the doctor backwards, to keep an eye on the
angels.

RIVER
Doctor!

In front of her are two angels.

RIVER/THE DOCTOR
Tardis!

RIVER
Where is it?

THE DOCTOR
Outside!

River moves around the new angels, keeping her eyes on them.

The Doctor runs past and moves forward. They walk along the
corridor, back to back, until they reach the door. River
runs out first, followed by The Doctor backing out.

RIVER
So where is it? I don't see it?

The Doctor moves backwards, and turns. River looks to where
they came from. The angels are now at the doorway.

RIVER
Well?

THE DOCTOR
It's gone. The Tardis... is gone!

CUT TO:

HOSPITAL 1940.

NURSE
Sir, a police box has been sighted
on the same street!

DOCTOR MAYER
A... police box?

He looks out the open window.

FLASH-

A police box is illuminated on the street.

DOCTOR
This is nonsense!

FLASH-

Outside the window - four angels stand around the box...

CUT TO:

HOME FOR THE BLIND.

The angels are gone.

RIVER
Doctor, they're gone!

THE DOCTOR
Yeah...

He buzzes with the sonic.

THE DOCTOR
All of them.

RIVER
What do they want, do you think?

THE DOCTOR
I thought you'd know! You sent me
here!

RIVER
I only detected an abnormal amount
of time energy. I had no idea
there were weeping angels here!

The Doctor looks around.

THE DOCTOR
Do you always wear that?

RIVER
This? I only just got it!

She gasps, and laughs.

RIVER
So you know about my future, too?

THE DOCTOR
Let's not go there, timey wimey and
all that-

He turns and thinks.

THE DOCTOR
So, they've taken the Tardis! How
to get back, how to-

River pulls out a small green glowing ball from her
pocket. The Doctor stares at it, fearful.

THE DOCTOR
That's... that's an alpha32 point
drive! Only found in the heart of
a Tardis... where did you get that?

RIVER
Spoilers-

THE DOCTOR
This isn't funny, River. That's
like the engine, without it a
Tardis would fail. And there's
only one Tardis left in existence -
mine. What have you done?

RIVER
Do you want me to help you get your
Tardis back or not, Doctor?

THE DOCTOR
Not if you're only going to
dismantle is later!

RIVER
This regeneration, you're so...
un-doctorish.

The Doctor is gone.

An angel is standing where he was.

His mirror lies on the ground.

RIVER
You only needed the image on the
mirror for a couple of
seconds? Oh, you are good. But
now, I really aught to go to the
Doctor-

River closes her eyes-

CUT TO:

HOSPITAL.

A bomb has gone off nearby. People are panicking.

The Doctor runs in.

THE DOCTOR
Everyone, quiet! This hospital is
under attack and if you panic all
of you will die!

DOCTOR
We're quite aware it's under
attack, sir!

THE DOCTOR
What?

FLASH-

THE DOCTOR
Oh, right, an air raid... No,
something far worse than bombs is
coming.

NURSE
Something that's causing all these
people to appear? That blue
box? The statues?

THE DOCTOR
Statues? Where?

NURSE
The street-

The Doctor runs to the steet, deserted besides from the
Tardis.

THE DOCTOR
They're coming.

He runs to the door and slams it shut. He finds a bed (with
a patient on it) and rolls it against the door.

THE DOCTOR
That should keep them out for-

Thud. Thud. Thud-

A hand flies through the door, but freezes as they stare at
it.

THE DOCTOR
Look at that hand, don't stop-

CRASH-

A bomb hit nearby.

They're all flown off their feet.

The Doctor looks up.

The angels are inside the room. The door lays bashed, the
bed overturned.

The Doctor stares at its eyes, not knowing the rule.

An angel has it's arm outstretched.

Doctor Mayer's eyes close, and he falls to the floor.

THE DOCTOR
What?

A nurse's eyes close, and she falls to the floor.

THE DOCTOR
How many people in here have
sight? Three? Four?

Thud, as someone else falls to the floor.

THE DOCTOR
They can force someone to sleep?

The Doctor suddenly feels sleepy.

THE DOCTOR
No... I must... fight it...

River runs into the room, holding the sphere. The room it
lit in green, blinding light.

THE DOCTOR
River?

The Angels move, and run away.

THE DOCTOR
What? They? How?

RIVER
The energy generated from this is
powerful enough to break the
quantum lock! I used it on the
angel in 2009, only that one was
brave enough to attack me.

THE DOCTOR
Yeah... I assume these ones have
run away until the effects wear
off.

The all clear goes off in the background.

RIVER
Is it over?

THE DOCTOR
I wish. We need to find them and
get rid of them.

RIVER
What were they doing?

THE DOCTOR
Feeding, I suspect. I noticed they
were moving quite slowly, otherwise
I'd have been killed earlier, so
they need a lot of energy. They
picked on some blind people since
they cannot defend themselves, and
brought them here. Due to the
angels being here I suspect they
would continue sending people back
in time until... well, until they
die.

The Doctor buzzes with the sonic screwdriver.

THE DOCTOR
They aren't far away. That thing
will take a while to recharge so we
probably should find them quickly,
but now they're mortal, we can do
whatever we like to-

He collapses.

RIVER
Doctor!

Everyone else in the room stares in bemusement.

THE DOCTOR
My... my head... it...

River looks into his eyes. There is an angel there.

RIVER
Doctor... did you look into an
angel's eye?

THE DOCTOR
I might have done... why? Ah!

He cries out in pain.

RIVER
The eyes are not the windows to the
soul, they are the doors... CLose
your eyes!

THE DOCTOR
What?

RIVER
It will save your life,
Doctor! Close them!

He closes his eyes.

Nothing happens.

RIVER
What? Oh no, it doesn't work for
Time Lords!

She stands up.

RIVER
Keep him safe! Make sure he
doesn't open his eyes!

She runs out of the room.

CUT TO:

EXT. HOSPITAL.

Various flames and ruins are scattered around. Families
wander about, searching for bodies of their loved ones.

River looks up, and sees statues standing at the top of a
builing. They're not quite still...

She finds stairs and climbs up.

BUILDING ROOF.

The Angels turn to look at her.

RIVER
Moving angels... Right.

She looks at their feet.

RIVER
Can... can you speak?

One of the angels lets out a horrific screech. They step
towards her.

RIVER
Stay back! I know you can still
kill me, but now I can kill you!

Another screech.

The angels advance towards her clumsily.

RIVER
You're not used to moving like
this, are you?

Another screech.

River turns, but angels have blocked her path. She is
surrounded.

All the angels screech.

And jump at her.

She dodges out of the way, as all the angels land into each
other with a thud, and vanish.

They're all gone.

RIVER
Did they... they did! They sent
each other back in time! They
probably won't stop until they
reach the beginning of Time!

PAN TO:

INT. HOSPITAL.

The Doctor is lying on a bed.

River runs in.

RIVER
Is he alright?

DOCTOR MAYER
He appears to be in a deep
coma... I'm sorry.

RIVER
He'll be fine... He'll have to
be. I'm still here, after all. If
he died now he'll never get to meet
me, so I wouldn't be here.

DOCTOR MAYER
...Right.

RIVER
Right then.

She pulls the bed out of the room.

CUT TO:

STREET.

She wheels the bed onto the street, and to the
Tardis. Using her own Tardis key, she opens the door and
goes inside.

CUT TO:

INT. HOSPITAL.

Everyone watched in awe as the Tardis dematerialises.

CUT TO:

INT. TARDIS.

River pilots the tardis as The Doctor lies on the bed.

RIVER
You won't remember, I shouldn't
think... Otherwise you would have
recognized the weeping angels on
Alfava Metraxis.

She pulls a lever.

And the Tardis leaves.

PAN TO:

INT. TARDIS.

The Doctor is alone on the floor. The Tardis appears to be
in hibernation mode.

The Doctor wakes up.

THE DOCTOR
ah! What?

He looks around.

THE DOCTOR
This is odd. I rarely ever sleep
on the floor!

He stands up.

THE DOCTOR
Or sleep at all, for that matter...

He looks around again.

On the Tardis console is a note.

He reads it.

It says "Don't worry about a thing, sweetie. I've cleared
it all up. PS, I only borrowed the Alpha32 point drive. x"

The Doctor stares at it.

THE DOCTOR
Riiight...

He observes The Tardis scanner.

THE DOCTOR
Hibernation mode? Since when has
The Tardis had a hiber- oh, yeah,
it was in that drop down menu. But
how... ?

Pause.

THE DOCTOR
The Universe is a very odd place.

He pulls a lever.

CUT TO:

END CREDITS.
