"Th-Thank you, Sakura..." Sasuke hugged her and laid his head on her shoulder and cried out all the anguish and anger that had been inside him for eight years.
Sakura held him while he cried telling him over and over that it would be okay, he wasn't alone.
"Sasuke-kun..." Sakura said. Sasuke was still crying on her shoulder, but she couldn't blame him. He'd had to deal with the pain of being alone for eight years and he hadn't told anyone about it up until then.
"It's okay", Sakura told him. She was stroking his hair, trying to calm him down. "Sasuke-kun, can you look at me?"
Sasuke did look up at her then and what Sakura saw in his eyes made her feel so sad that she didn't say anything else. She simply stood there hugging him and stroking his hair.
A few minutes later, she looked up at him and said, "Let's go to my house that way you can tell me all about it okay? It would probably make you feel better if you told someone the whole story." She stopped hugging him and took his hand and, without a word, started leading him to her house.
When they got to her house, Sakura opened the door and they went straight to her room. They both sat on her bed and Sakura took his other hand. All she said was, "Tell me."
Sasuke had finally calmed down enough to tell her what had happened. "Well". he said. "I was on my way home from the ninja academy eight years ago. I go to the part of town where my clan lived. When I got there I knew something was wrong." He started to squeeze Sakura's hands and she knew that the next part of the story wasn't going to have a good endnig.
Sasuke continued, "I walked through the streets and found everyone dead. I began running towards my house and when I got there, I began looking for my parents. I looked all through the house until there was only one roon left to check, a room I was strictly told not to go into. I got to the door and I knew I shouldn't go inside, but I went in anyway...Because I heard a noise on the other side of the door." He squeezed Sakura's hands even tighter and Sakura knew that the story was almost over.
"I opened the door", Sasuke was saying. "And the first thing I saw was my parents...lying dead on the floor and covered in blood. The next thing I saw was my older brother, Itachi standing over them. I had gone inside just as he killed himself. After I saw him die, I lost all of my sanity and I ran away from home, but I had to go back because I had no where else to go. And I've lived by myself ever since", he concluded.
(A/N: yes I know Itachi didn't really kill himself. he was killed by Sasuke in Shippuden, but I wanted Sasuke to be completely alone in the story)
Sakura could tell that Sasuke was struggling not to cry anymore. She could also see that it was a losing battle. She felt his control break, and he released her hands, at last, to bury his face in his hands.
(A/N: I'm not trying to make Sasuke seem like a crybaby. this chapter is dedicated to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one)
Sakura held him while he cried, not saying anything. Eventually, his crying quieted and he was silent. Sakura looked down and saw that he had cried himself to sleep. She kissed his forehead and looked out the window. While he was asleep she kept looking out the window and thought about what he had said.
'He's all alone', she thought. 'No he isn't' her inner-self told her. 'He has you now.'
Sakura kept looking out the window until, finally, 3 hours later, Sasuke stirred. She looked at him just as he was trying to sit up.
"Don't force yourself, Sasuke-kun", she said.
Sasuke looked at her. "What happened?" he asked. He tried to get off the bed and stand up. He stumbled and Sakura caught him before he fell.
"Maybe you should lie back down", she said. Sasuke saw the concern in her eyes and decided not to argue.
"What happened to me?" he asked again, as she was lying him down.
"You told me what happened", Sakura answered. "And then you passed out. You've been asleep for 3 hours."
"3 hours?!" Sasuke asked. "I should be getting home." He tried to stand up again, but without much success.
"Sasuke-kun..." Sakura said. "Why don't you stay over here? I could ask my mother if you want."
"A-Are you sure?" Sasuke asked. "Your mother won't mind?"
"Of course she won't mind!" Sakura said. "But I'll go let her know. I'll be right back okay?"
"Okay", Sasuke answered.
Sakura went downstair to the kitchen where her mother was writing a letter.
"Mother, I have a question", she said. "Can Sasuke-kun stay over here for a while? I'll explain everything later, but is it okay with you?"
"Not unless you tell me why", her mother awswered.
"Fine. Sasuke-kun's clan was murdered by his older brother and he's been alone for eight years with no one to talk to. I got him to talk to me and I realized that he shouldn't be alone. So is it okay?"
"Well, if you're trying to make him feel like he's not alone, it's okay by me." her mother said.
"Thanks, Mother!" Sakura said and hugged her.
To Be Continued...
That's sweet. Seems like Sasuke isn't alone anymore.
