The cold climate was suitable for many wild water and ice type Pokemon. Covered up years ago as a wish from Jirachi, the climate is ruled by Slowking, who had ursurped the throne from King Gallade and Queen Gardevoir after they mysteriously dissapeared many years ago.
As light dawned on the kingdom, warming the Pokemon up, as they stretched for the long day ahead, a cry was heard from the highest balcony of the highest tower. The king's Krikatot trumperteers sounded the alarm. The village swarmed ever so quickly up to the castle ground.
Infernape, Slowking's most trusted advisor slowly exited the castle, to an uproar of wonderous cries. "Citizens, it is my duty to inform you that our king, Slowking, has been murdered!" The crowd started to squirm. "Quiet! Keep calm!" With some help from Hariyama and Excavalier, who were the guards, the crowd was contained, and resumed starring and listening to Infernape.
Infernape cleared his throat. "I am asking on behalf of the royal family if one of you can investigate the death of King Slowking, and report back to the kingdom with the culprit! The person that Slowking told me he trusted before his death is noble Greninja, one of his highest trained ninja and detective Pokemon."
The crowd separated, revealing Greninja, who had a tuff of wheat in his mouth, resting by one of the water statues resembling the late Slowking. "Your quest is my command, sir! I hereby pledge that I, Greninja will track, locate, and bring to the royal court the evil villain who threatened this civilisation, and killed our king!" Greninja smiled, and the crowd went wild. Infernape smiled, and walked away to the sound of Krikatot chirping away like small orange trumpets.
Later that day, Greninja examined the crime scene, where evidence of Slowking's death is shown. Greninja quickly concluded that the likely cause of death was a poisonous berry. From the scent, Greninja guessed that it was a Qualot berry, which, fortunately, was the king's favourite berry, meaning that it was the most likely meal for him to devour.
The only person that Greninja knew to have a permit to grow berries was ole' Shuckle and his assistant Vileplume. Greninja asked Gogoat if she could take him to Shuckle Farm, where he would find the two people of interest. Gogoat agreed, and took him there.
Greninja knocked on Shucke's front door. Oddish, Vileplume's daughter answered the fdoor. "Can I help you?" she asked him. "Hello Oddish. I'm here to talk to Shuckle and your father." Oddish called over Shuckle and Vileplume. "What can I do you for?" Vileplume asked. "I am here on behalf of the royal court. King Slowking appears to have died from eating a poisonous Qualot berry, and your farm here produces all berries in this village. You both are suspects in the case of his death!" Vileplume and Shuckle jumped. "We...We didn't do anything," Shuckle stumbled. "Well the evidence wouldn't support your assumption. You, Shuckle, create the berries, and the juice that is provided to the whole kingdom, and you, Vileplume, have poisonous powder you can release. Together, you could easily poison the King's supply! I'm going to have to take you both in for questioning."
By the next hour, Shuckle and Vileplume were in interview rooms at the castle. Throh and Sawk, two extremely tough guards were looking after both possible villains, so they do not escape. "Thanks Throh! I'm going to check on Vileplume first!" Greninja said, shuffling past Throh and walking into the dark, barely illuminated room. Closing the door behind him, Greninja sat down, and starred at Vileplume in the face. "Explain to me why you are innocent!" Greninja demanded. Vileplume gulped. "I have an alliby, and so does Shuckle. We were both visiting lady Leavanny to deliver some Oran Berries to her children. We came to the meeting by the castle straight from her place, and Crustle and Golem had been delivering the berries for us, so I think you should be asking them!" With that sentence, Vileplume had said everything Greninja needed. "I will return!" He said, as he sternly left the room, and entered Shuckle's room. Sure enough, Shuckle, without knowledge given to him from Greninja, was able to step-by-step recall the same events as Vileplume did, meaning that they were both most likely not the Pokemon to blame. Greninja asked Gogoat if she could visit Leavanny and ask her if they were there, and she said that they were there all morning, giving her kids some berries.
"Great! Get Golem and Crustle here now! Dismiss Vileplume and Shuckle, and tell them that I am sorry for any inconveniance that was caused here today!" Greninja told Throh and Sawk this, as they admired his attitude, which was something that they had been jealous about for years. Greninja was able to take down each and every criminal that the kindom had faced ever since he evolved from Frogadier.
Greninja was getting closer. He could feel it. Sawk and Throh brought in Golem and Crustle, who both looked confused as to the reasoning behind them being there. "What's the prob, mate?" Golem asked with a gruff, husky voice. "You both are under temporary arrest as I try to find out who killed King Slowking. Throh, Sawk, take them into separate interviewing rooms." Sawk and Throh nodded, as they silently pushed the two suspects into individual rooms.
Golem's was the closest, and first on the list. Greninja sat down on a chair inside the room. "Please explain your whereabouts this morning. Give me your schedule." Greninja drunk a glass of Pecha Berry Juice as Golem began to recall the day's events. "Well sir, I got up, put on my trucker hat, and had some Poffins for breakfast, before leaving for Shuckle's farm. From there, my boss and I started to deliver berries, and when I arrived home, Sawk came and arrested me. That's my day for you." Golem cleared his throat. Greninja slid a glass of Pecha Berry Juice down to Golem to drink, who eagerly drunk it in a mouthful. "Ok! Great! Now that we've established that, I want to know who in particular you delivered to today!" Greninja sat eagerly, as Golem sat down the empty glass with a thud. His expression changed to anger. "Seriously! What is your problem? What do you want with me?" Golem stood up, as Sawk and another guard, Frosslass, came in, in case of emergency.
"Sit back down Golem!" Greninja commanded. Golem's eyes darted back and forth from the guards to Greninja. He sat down with a thump. "Now tell me where you've delivered to!" Greninja told him, as Sawk and Frosslass menacingly played with their fists in their hands, so Golem would obey orders. Golem once again cleared his throat. "Ok, well first we visited lady Roserade, then the royal castle, followed by Tokicroak's den, then finally to Mighteyena's place. On our way home we heard the Krikatot and listened to sir Infernape talk about King Slowking's death, which I am assuming is what this is about, am I correct?" Golem breathed heavily. "Yes, and thank you for co-operating. Now, I must ask you here and now, did you poison King Slowking's berries?" Greninja finished. Golem shook his head. "Listen Greninja. You know me! You know even though I act all tough, I'm not game enough to kill our King, who, by the way, I adored, as did everyone I knew. The berries were being carried in Crustle's shell. They didn't leave there until we reached each individual location, and even then, they had been previously sealed by Vileplume and Shuckle. Can I go now, please? Is that all you wanted to know?" Golem finished, and looked Greninja in the eye. Through this simple motion, Greninja could tell that Golem was innocent. "Sure," he smiled, "You can go now, but I've still got to interview Crustle." Sawk and Frossless led Golem out, while Greninja entered the next interview room.
"Ok Crustle! I've had a long day. I'm going to be quick. Did you, or did you not poison King Slowking's berries?" Greninja sighed, exhausted from the day's work. Crustle looked shocked. "Why, how could you even suggest that? I am a loyal employee of Shuckle, and I loved the King. If you don't remember, I was knighted a few years back after I was able to stop the Durant from stealing the Kingdom's food supply." Crustle seemed sure of himself. "Yes, this may be true, but perhaps you felt jealous that you couldn't relive that experience! Did you want to feel that rush again? Did you? Did you?" By now, Greninja was standing up, leaning on the oak, polished table. "No! I would never! Listen, when Golem and I delivered the berries to Lady Roserade, I let young Roselia and Budew check out my shell since I refurbished it last week. My best guess is that you should go to pay Lady Roserade a visit!" Crustle finished, with a glimmer of an overbearing ego in his face. "That seems like the best place to go. Throh," Throh looked in from the outside, "Please take Crustle to a jail cell until I personally pay Mrs. Roserade a visit tomorrow morning."
As Throh was throwing Crustle into the jail, he screamed with rage. "What is the meaning off this? Why am I being put in a jail cell?" Greninja walked up to the cell, once it had been locked by the jail guard Medicham. "The reason you're being locked up is that you are the prime suspect, and unless I am able to locate another culprit, you will be spending a lot more time in here." Greninja looked around the cell, with the intent to freak Crustle out, reinforcing in his mind to accept the punishment if he were guilty.
The next day, Greninja was up wide and early. He knocked on Lady Roserade's door. "Good day sir Greninja. What can I do for you?" She had a very peppy, positive attitude, as she always did. "I have a few questions, Mrs. Roserade. May I come in?" Roserade nodded, and gestured for Greninja to enter. She sat him down, and gave him a hot cup of Oran Berry Juice. "So Greninja, ole' pal, what did you want to talk about?" She asked, laughing. Greninja smiled. "As you know, King Slowking has been killed." Roserade nodded. "The cause of death was poisoning from a berry. I have been told that you recieved a delivery of berries from Shuckle's company, delivered by Golem and Crustle. Is this correct?" Roserade nodded again, thusly gaining interest at a rapid rate. She glanced down at her cup. "Did you by any chance notice Crustle allowing young Roselia and Budew to take a look at his newly designed shell?" Roserade's eyes darted from her blue cup to Greninja. "Yes! Why? Did Crustle or Golem do it?" She started to tear up. "Ma'am, I cannot discuss that at this time. I am under the impression now that your kids released some poisonous spores into the berries that were for the King. This would mean that your children effectively killed our King. I need you to bring them here to me, so I can ask them about this!"
Lady Roserade was taken back by this remark. Budew and Roselia happened to be right around the corner, listening to the conversation between Greninja and their mother. "We...We...Sir, we promise we didn't do anything like that. My sister and I were only admiring sir Crustle's fantastic home." Greninja looked into their eyes, and into their souls. They were too inoccent. "I believe you girls. Was there anything unusual about sir Crustle's house?" Roselia thought about it. "Well he did have a bottle labelled T! It looked out of place, and was right next to the basket with King Slowking's name on it."
Greninja's thoughts and ideas were merging. Golem mentioned that they visited Toxicroak's den. But that was after the Kingdom. It was all clear now. Toxicroak had been one of the King's most trusted guards, but after losing in a Pokemon Battle to Infernape, he was banished from the royal court. Crustle, as Greninja was suspecting, was jealous at the King, for showing him, in his eyes, no respect. They were in cahoots. "Thank you for all your help!" Greninja thanked the family, and ran out the door. "Bye," Lady Roserade said, smiling, but as she waved him goodbye, he was already half way down the street.
On his way to arrest Toxicroak, he found Gogoat on a run. "Hey Gogoat! Mind if you take me to Toxicroak's den? I'm arresting him!" Gogoat nodded, and Greninja jumped on. They rode to the den. The stench around the den was unbearable. It would have been hard for Golem and Crustle to deliver his berries. Greninja knocked down Toxicroak's front door, and blasted him inside, to Toxicroak's suprise, with a large Hydro Pump. Toxicroak reached his feet, and ran at Greninja, with his hand lighting up dark purple, attempting a Poison Jab. Greninja dodged the attack, and hit a tackle on Toxicroak, making him thump against the sturdy wall, fainting. Greninja handcuffed Toxicroak, and, still unconcious, took him down to the jail.
Once Toxicroak was awake, he started to ask questions. "What am I here for? What is wrong with you? I demand to know right this instant!" He had anger painted right across his face. He was guilty. "You and your accomplice Crustle are under arrest for the murder of King Slowking, and you will remain here for the rest of your time." Crustle, who was in the next cell over started to cry. "O, Calm down!" Greninja said, happy with himself to have accomplished such a mission. "He made me do it. He threatened me with my life!" Crustle pleaded. "Sure I did, bud!" Toxicroak laughed. "You were more than happy to kill that idiot of a ruler!"
Later that day, Greninja visited the royal palace, and informed the kingdom of the culprits. The Pokemon cheered with joy, and Infernape announced that Slowking's son, Slowbro was in charge of the kingdom. The Krikatot chimed as Slowbro took the throne, accompanied by his friend Shellder, who he never seemed to ignore. In a flash of bright light, Slowbro evolved into Slowking! Shellder bowed down with the rest of the guards and kingdom, as Slowking gave a speech on how effective he will be as ruler. In his speech, Slowking thanked Greninja from the bottom of his heart for finding out whom was responsible for the murder of his dear father.
