Knight and Angel - (Wyz)

Miscellaneous By: Jayson Wyz
Fantasy

This was written a few months after I started dating Jennifer (now my wife). It was written for an intro to an old online journal I created shortly after we started dating (although there were only about 3 or 4 entries).

This ended up inspiring a novel in my series I am working on.

A young man sits on his knees, clothed in full plate-armor. His hands are gripped on the hilt of his sword as the sword's blade shifts into the Earth from the wielder's weight. His head is held up over the ground, his cheeks stained with streaks of a red-brown color coming from his eyes, like the streaks left when a brick is rubbed across the pavement. A small puddle of blood can be seen on the ground in front of his face.

The knight feels the presence of someone nearby, and as he peers behind him, he sees a young girl crawling toward him. Her clothes were torn, her body bruised and badly wounded. On her back were two large gashes, bleeding. Around her neck, wrists, and ankles were shackles broken from the chains they were attached to. She reached for the knight before finally collapsing to the ground.

The knight came to her side and sat beside her, pulling her head up onto his lap. Her arms reached up to his face and rubbed the blood residue.
