Chapter 7
The War Of Magica City
“Queen Softy sent us to you to help us,” the Friendly Statue told the bird.
“That’s because she still thinks that I’m a magician,” the bird replied. “But I can’t help you. I don’t have any magical powers left.”
The Friendly Statue did not know what to do. There was no magician in this area that could help him to retake Magica City.
Suddenly, the king exclaimed, “I forgot about Queen Imma the seventh of Qama! Perhaps she can help us. She’s a mighty witch, you know. She was the one who transported George and Natasha back to Canada. But how can we get to Qama?”
“That’s not hard,” laughed the bird. “There’s a traveling room not far from here.”
So the seven travelers plus the bird went looking for the traveling room. Now a traveling room is a room that will take you wherever you want. It can fly.
It did not take them long to find the room. It was so big that it could hold about twenty horses. So both the donkey and the horse were put in the room. Then the people got into the room. The bird, on the other hand, decided to stay where he was.
The Friendly Statue took the device that controls the room, and he typed ‘Qama.’ The room started flying at once.
It felt cool being in a flying room. The Friendly Statue, Caty and Don had used this room when George and Natasha were with them. But it was new to the other ones.
At last, the room landed in the city of Qama. As soon as the travelers were all out, the room suddenly disappeared.
Now the city of Qama was on the southern border of Magica City. Qama was also a splendid city, because its queen was also a powerful witch.
The palace of the queen was not very far from where they had landed. So the Friendly Statue led them to it.
“We’re here to see her majesty, Queen Imma the seventh,” the statue told one of the maidens.
So she ran to the queen and told her what the statue had said.
“Let them come in,” the queen told her. Now Queen Imma the seventh was also a mighty witch. She was the one who had transported George and Natasha back to Canada through her magic.
As soon as the seven travelers had entered the throne room of Queen Imma the seventh, they all bowed to her.
“Welcome to Qama,” she began. “I recognize King Friendly, Caty and Don.”
So then the Friendly Statue introduced the rest of his friends to the queen. She was pleased to meet them.
Next, the statue told the queen about the invasion of Magica City by the Woodmanians.
“Do you want me to give you some magical powers and send some of my soldiers to help you?” she asked.
“I think the magical powers would be enough, your majesty,” replied the statue.
The queen got up and opened one of her cupboards. Taking out seven gloves, she explained, “I will enchant these gloves so when you touch any Woodmanian with them, that person will no longer be able to move. But when they will return back to their country, the enchantment will be broken, and so they’ll be able to move again. Also, if you’re wearing these gloves, nothing can hurt you. Does that sound good?”
“It sounds perfect!” the Friendly Statue told her. “So we’ll keep touching the wooden soldiers with these gloves until only a few of them are left. Then we’ll tell them that if they return to their country, their brothers will be alive again.”
“But how can we enter the city?” asked Rose excitedly, for she was eager to fight to save Magica City. “The wooden soldiers won’t open the gates to us, of course.”
“That’s not a problem, dear,” smiled Queen Imma. “I’ll give you a magical tool that would transport you to any place you want. So you can ask it to let you land inside the city.”
The Friendly Statue bowed to the queen and said, “How can I ever repay you for being so kind to me and my city.”
So when everything was ready, the travelers left the palace, wearing the gloves that would freeze any wooden soldier that they might touch.
The Friendly Statue had the transportation tool that the queen had given him. Pointing it at his friends he said, “Magica City.”
They instantly began to fly. They were flying so fast that they thought that they would die very soon. Some of the travelers were scared, while others were happy to be flying.
Even though they were flying very fast, yet they could hear one another. So the Friendly Statue said to them, “Let me give you few instructions about how to retake the city. But first, who will fight in my little army?”
All six of them said yes. So the statue asked, “And what should we call the name of our little army?”
“Call it ‘The King’s Army,’” suggested Rose.
“Great!” smiled the king. “Now this is how we’re going to do it. Do not take your gloves unless you’re sure that the wooden soldiers will not be able to capture you. Keep walking toward the wooden soldiers, and just keep touching as many as you can. We’ll do this until only a few of them are left alive. Then they would be forced to leave the city. But let’s try to capture the palace as soon as possible, because as soon as one of us is on the throne, the people of Magica City will listen to the new ruler. If any of you is able to get into the throne room, do not wait for me. Go in and proclaim yourself as the new king or queen of the city.”
They were suddenly dropped in Magica City. When the wooden soldiers who were guarding the gates saw them, they were terrified.
So the seven soldiers of the King’s Army got up and walked in the city, touching any wooden soldier that they could find. About a hundred of the wooden soldiers were sent to arrest them, but they could not lay hands on them. So the seven soldiers just kept touching the enemy soldiers, and they were all dying one by one.
When the Magicans saw that their king had returned, they were very happy. However, they could not help him, since he was not in control of the city.
“Welcome back to Magica City!” cried Mr. Arthur, coming toward them. “The evil wooden soldiers have made our lives miserable. Please save us!
“Silent!” shouted one of the wooden generals. Just when he was about to hit Mr. Arthur, Rose ran to him and touched him with her glove. He instantly fell dead to the ground.
“How did you do that?” asked Mr. Arthur in amazement.
So Rose explained everything to him.
“Most houses are occupied by the enemies,” said Mr. Arthur sadly. “They are the masters of almost every house and building in Magica City. We’re their slaves. But I fought very hard to keep them away from my house. So my wife and I are still the masters of the house.”
“Perhaps we can stay in your house, then,” remarked the king.
“O for sure!” smiled the kind fellow. Then he took them to his house to rest a little.
As the soldiers of the King’s Army were resting in the house of Mr. Arthur, a group of wooden soldiers knocked on the door and said, “Hand over to us the former king and his followers or we will burn down your house!”
“Now four of us never get tired,” remarked the Friendly Statue. “So let’s go and continue fighting them until the other three are ready to join us.”
“But they want to arrest you!” protested Mr. Arthur.
“They can’t,” smiled Rose. “The magical gloves will protect us from every danger.”
So the two statues, Don the donkey and Jamil the golden man got up and left the house. As soon as the wooden soldiers saw them, they tried to arrest them, but they were pushed back by an unknown power. Of course it was the power of the magical gloves.
So the four good soldiers ran after the evil ones, touching as many as they could. The enemies were astonished at this magic. They were also horrified, but they did not show it, because they pretended to be brave.
When the other three soldiers of the King’s Army were all rested, they left the house to join in the battle against the enemies. They kept running, touching every wooden soldier that they could find.
“Can we burn the bodies of the dead wooden soldiers?” a Magican man asked the Friendly Statue.
“Don’t do that!” the statue told him. “They’re not completely dead. They will come back to life as soon as they reach their country. So they’re just frozen now.”
Rose proved to be the best soldier in the King’s Army, because she had touched most of the wooden generals. Everybody admired her for her courage and cleverness.
When night had come, the Friendly Statue said to his fighters, “Now three of you require sleep. So you can go and sleep. But the other four of us will keep fighting all night long, because we never get tired. I promise you that the wooden soldiers will not awaken you. So sleep in peace!”
Mrs. Maria had prepared a nice dinner for Rose, her horse and Caty. They told the kind lady all about their adventures in different cities of Magica.
The next morning, Rose went to one of the wooden generals and said, “If you take me to the new king of Magica, I promise that I won’t hurt you.”
Now Rose did this because she had an idea of how to overthrow the new wooden government of Magica City.
So the general agreed to take her to the king of the city.
“Who do we have here?” said the wooden king happily.
“I’m Rose from the King’s Army.”
“But now you belong to my army,” laughed the evil ruler.
So Rose began running across the throne room, touching all the people who were there. At last, every wooden person who was in the throne room was dead.
Now there was a microphone in the throne room that the rulers of the city used when they wanted the whole city to hear them. So Rose took the microphone and cried in a loud voice, “I have conquered the wooden king of Magica City! I am the queen of Magica City now! I command every Magican to fight against the evil invaders!”
This news gladdened the heart of the Friendly Statue and the rest of his army. There were only six of them now, because Rose was now in the throne room. Nevertheless, she called for Mr. Arthur and gave him her magical glove. So he fought in her place.
When the wooden soldiers learned that their government had been overthrown, they sent messages to their fellows in other cities to come and help them. They did this because every person in Magica City was fighting against them.
So new wooden soldiers began arriving in Magica City by the hundreds. Nevertheless, the King’s Army was not discouraged.
The people of Magica City started arresting as many wooden soldiers as possible. Then they would be put in a place where they would not be able to escape.
When Queen Rose saw that it would take her army forever to defeat the enemies, she shouted in the microphone, “If the wooden soldiers do not leave the city immediately, they shall be burned!”
Now the wooden people feared fire the most, because it melts them. So if they were burned, they would die.
So one of their generals went to the door of the throne room and shouted, “Your majesty, how can we leave while many of our soldiers are dead?”
“They shall be restored to life as soon as they reach your country,” replied Queen Rose.
So without another battle, the wooden army started preparing to leave Magica City. They also took their dead soldiers with them.
Then the Friendly Statue went in to see the queen. He also took the rest of his friends with him.
When Rose saw them, she got up and said to the Friendly Statue, “Your majesty, your kingdom has been restored to you.”
“But the statue bowed to her and said, “You saved our city from the enemies. So you shall be the queen of Magica City! Long live Queen Rose!”
“But I didn’t do it to become the queen,” she told him.
“Well I don’t like to be a king anyways,” laughed the statue. “And I did not choose to be the king, but the king who was before me gave me this job. So now, you are the queen of Magica City!”
The news that Rose was now the queen of Magica City was announced throughout the city. Everybody was happy that their enemies had left.
“But the battle is not over yet,” remarked Queen Rose. “We still have to save the city of Goldia from the wooden people.”
“Thank you for remembering my city, your majesty,” smiled Jamil the golden man.
“But first,” explained the young queen, “We’ll go to Woodmania to tell all the slaves to return to their own countries. Then we’ll go to Goldia to free it from the wooden occupation. We’ll take the necessary items to kindle a fire if the wooden people refuse to listen to us. They fear fire the most, you know.”
“But who will go, your majesty?” asked the Friendly Statue excitedly.
“Please don’t say ‘your majesty,” she smiled. “I’m still Rose, the sweet girl that you used to know. I think that all seven of us should go, because we have the magical gloves. So we’ll be safe.”
Next, the queen told Mr. Arthur to be in charge of the palace until she comes back. Then she and her six friends left the palace. She used the transportation tool to take them to Woodmania.
They landed safely in Woodmania. When the guards saw them, they realized that they had magic with them.
“But now our gloves won’t hurt them,” said Mr. Good.
“You’re right,” smiled the queen. “The gloves won’t work unless the wooden people are in another country. As long as they are in their country, they are safe from our gloves. However, we can frighten them with fire.”
The king of the Woodmania came out to meet Rose and her friends. He said in an angry tone, “You drove us out of your city and now you’ve come to conquer us?”
“Release all of your Golden slaves and we’ll leave you alone,” replied Queen Rose. “Let them go back to their own country.”
“And what will you do if I refuse to release them?” he asked cruelly.
“We shall burn you and your people,” was the queen’s response.
“What if I decide to make a peace treaty with you?” he asked again. “Will you still ask me to release the slaves?”
“We won’t make a peace treaty with you until you release the Golden slaves,” the queen told him. “Do it quick or we shall kindle a fire!”
The king of the wooden people could not resist the queen of Magica City any longer. So he cried to his people, “Let the slaves go free or our city will be burned!”
Suddenly, a large crowd of slaves was out in the streets of Woodmania. They were very excited to return to their own country, Goldia.
When the queen of Magica City saw this, she cried out in a loud voice, “Stop! Let’s all go together. We’re going to Goldia to free it!”
The queen used the transportation tool to make everybody, including the slaves, to fly to Goldia.
“Who is the king of Goldia?” the queen asked Jamil.
“Well the city is currently ruled by the wooden people,” replied the golden man. “But the real king is lost.”
“Then we’ll let you rule in his place until he’s found,” she told him.
Finally, they all landed in the golden city of Goldia. All the slaves ran to their real houses, because Goldia was their country, but the wooden people had taken them to Woodmania and in slaved them.
When the wooden soldiers saw this large band of people, they were horrified. They ran out of the city as fast as they could.
“They’re running without us having to tell them to,” laughed the Friendly Statue.
So Goldia was finally free from the wooden occupation. Jamil was proclaimed as the new king of the golden city. The people rejoiced very much because they were finally free from their enemies.
At last, the queen of Magica City and her five friends said goodbye to the Goldians and flew back to Magica City, where a great banquet was awaiting them.
The end.
