Chapter 7
The Trip Is Over
“I guess being lost in this world was not a bad thing, after all,” Natasha told her friends the next morning as they were preparing to continue their journey to Magica City.
The queen and the whole population of the city of the young girls was sad. They had enjoyed their visitors.
“I hope that the Prince of Darkness will put more statues in the park of your city,” the queen said to George. “Because I want you to kiss it and be transported back to this world again.”
Finally, our friends thanked Queen Softy and the population of Young Girls and departed. George was very sad of course. The previous day he had been made the king of this city. But now he is leaving it behind.
The queen of the young girls had given our friends a magical book. It had two buttons on the first page. If you press any of these buttons, the book will give you another story or information. So it was many books in one.
This book was very helpful to the Friendly Statue, because he read in it whenever he was bored.
The queen had also given them more food and drinks for their journey. There were many sandwiches of all kinds of meat.
When night had come, the travelers began searching for a place to sleep over the night.
Presently the Friendly Statue looked up and exclaimed, “I see a city not far from here! But it looks empty.”
So the rest of the party followed him to the city. There was a signpost that read, “Sleepland. Don’t make any noise.”
In this city, there were only countless rooms. Some of them were occupied while others were empty.
As soon as our friends had entered the city, they were becoming dizzy and sleepy. Luckily, there were some empty rooms not far from the entrance. So they entered these rooms and fell asleep immediately.
But the Friendly Statue did not sleep of course. He kept reading in the book that the queen of the young girls had given him.
When morning had come, the Friendly Statue did not see anyone leaving their rooms. This made him worry because of his friends.
So he went to wake them up, but they could not get up. As soon as they would open their eyes, they would close them again.
So the statue realized what the trick was. The name of this country is ‘Sleepland.’ This means that the people never wake up.
So he looked for something that would help him. At last, he came across a box filled with bottles. It was written on the box, “Drink and wake up!”
So the Friendly Statue took one of them and went over to the cat. Waking her up, he gave her the bottle to drink. She was afraid at first, because she did not understand what he was doing. But when she had drank the whole bottle, she began to revive again.
Then Caty helped him to do the same with the other ones until they were all awake.
“Let’s leave this country at once!” he whispered to his friends.
So they took all of their belongings and left Sleepland.
“But I can’t believe it that the people never wake up,” remarked Natasha, being the first to break the silence.
“This world is filled with wonders,” the Friendly Statue told her.
“I’m glad you don’t sleep, Friendly Statue,” said the donkey as they were stopping at a nice place to eat breakfast. “If wasn’t for you, we would’ve slept forever.”
After that, they renewed their journey. They hoped to find someone or something that would be able to take them to Magica City.
Suddenly, the Friendly Statue said, “I see a traveling room!”
“What’s that?” said George.
“A traveling room will take you wherever you want,” was the statue’s answer.
“Then, I must return to my house,” said Mr. Simple. “I did whatever I could to help you in your journey, and now this traveling room will take you to Magica City.”
“You helped us a lot, sir,” cried Natasha, giving him a big hug. Then the rest of our friends wished him a happy return. He disappeared.
When the Friendly Statue had opened the door of the traveling room, he saw that it had ten chairs. But on one of these chairs was a little device that was used to control the room.
“Do you think that this traveling room can take us back to Canada?” asked Natasha eagerly.
“Don’t you want to see Magica City and the mighty magician?” replied the Friendly Statue. “But I will write down Canada and we’ll see what will happen.”
But when he did write ‘Canada,’ a voice said, “It’s not on my map. Sorry.”
They all looked puzzled for a minute. But then the Friendly Statue wrote ‘Magica City.’ The room began moving at once.
“Isn’t it funny for a room to fly?” was George’s question.
“Not in this country,” answered the cat sweetly.
After ten minutes of flying, the traveling room was on the ground again. The Friendly Statue left with his friends. As soon as they were out of the room, it flew away.
Now our friends did not know where they were. Nevertheless, they knew that they were either in or near Magica City. And they were actually very close to entering the magnificent city of Magica.
Now let me describe this wonderful city to you. This great city had many houses, shopping places and other buildings. But these places looked so beautiful that you would almost think that you are in heaven.
Magica City was surrounded by four other cities. To the north was the city of Bathra, to the east was Yemni, to the west was Cheppi, and to the south was Qama. Together, these four cities plus Magica formed the province of Wonderland.
When they were inside the city, the Friendly Statue asked a man to lead them to Mr. Wishman’s house. The kind fellow led them toward the house.
A young woman opened the door for them. She was one of the daughters of Mr. Wishman. She was dressed richly.
“We’ve come to see Mr. Wishman, ma’am,” began the Friendly Statue, for he was the leader of the party.
“Well come in and make yourselves at home,” replied the beautiful young woman.
So they followed her into a nice looking room, where they sat waiting for Mr. Wishman.
Then an old gentleman came and introduced himself to them, saying, “I’m Mr. Wishman. Please follow me into my room.”
Now the travelers thought that the mighty magician would indeed look mighty, but here he is, very humble.
So he pointed at the Friendly Statue and began, “Could you tell me a little bit about yourself please?”
The Friendly Statue told him all the important information about himself.
“Please follow me,” he got up and left the room with the statue.
Then they came to a place where there was a bathtub.
Here Mr. Wishman had many bottles of magical water that he poured into the bathtub.
“Wash yourself in this water and you shall be restored to your proper form,” said the magician.
So the Friendly Statue obeyed. When he had come out of the bathtub, he was restored to his proper form! How happy he was to be his old self again.
So the two of them returned back to the other ones.
“You look more handsome now!” said Natasha, as she hugged him.
The magician’s next job was to restore all of his magical abilities to him. So he took a little device from a cupboard and began pressing many buttons on it.
Then he told the statue to come closer to him, and he put that device on its head for a minute.
“I have all of my magical powers now!” rejoiced the Friendly Statue.
Turning to Caty the cat, the magician asked, “And what is your wish, ma’am?”
“To have an invisible house, please,” she replied.
So then he started pressing more buttons on his little device. Next, he called her to come closer to him. When she came, he put the device on her head and explained, “I’m confirming that this invisible house is yours. And now you can go to it whenever you like. Congratulations!”
Then it was the donkey’s turn. So he explained, “Sir, I want to become a wooden donkey, so I wouldn’t get hungry, nor sick nor tired.”
Mr. Wishman brought a blanket and put it on the donkey. Then he took his device in his hand. Pointing it at the donkey, he began pressing some buttons.
Finally, he took off the blanket. Behold, the donkey was now a wooden animal!
“What is your wish, ma’am?” Mr. Wishman asked, turning to look at Natasha.
“I want to go back to Canada, please,” was her answer.
“Your wish is rather a hard one,” replied the mighty magician. “I’m sorry to say that I can’t help you in this matter. But you can go and see Queen Imma the seventh, the witch queen of Qama. She’s mightier than I.”
Now they wanted to start traveling at once, but the magician wanted to show them the glory of Magica City.
The palace of the king of Magica City was not far from Mr. Wishman’s house. So he took the visitors to meet King Fares.
So they sat in one of the rooms of the magnificent palace, waiting for King Fares to ask for them.
Then, a man came and greeted them. He was different from all of the people who lived in the palace. He seemed to be a poor person.
He took them into an unusual room. It did not look like a palace room at all. Then he explained, “I am your humble servant, King Fares.”
They all bowed to him, but he said, “Please don’t. I’m not special or anything.”
The visitors had never seen such a humble king in all their lives.
Then the king asked them to introduce themselves to him. When he learned that George and Natasha were from the other world, he exclaimed, “Me too! I’m from Lebanon!”
When they had told him that they were going to see the good witch of Qama, King Fares said, “Well I want to return to my world too. So I’ll come with you to Canada, if you don’t mind. Then I’ll travel to Lebanon.”
“But who will rule this city?” asked the Friendly Statue thoughtfully.
“You will,” smiled the king. “I see that you are very wise. So from now on, you are King Friendly Statue of Magica City!”
Then he bowed to the Friendly Statue. His friends did likewise.
Next, he took them to the room where his throne was. He took out a crown and put it upon the new king.
After that, the former king took the new king to present him to the people who lived in this palace. The former king declared, “O people of Magica, behold your new king, King Friendly Statue!”
Everyone bowed to his majesty, King Friendly Statue.
Then the previous king explained, “I hope that I have ruled you fairly. So now I must return back to my world.”
That night, there was a big feast in honour of King Friendly Statue. There was much rejoicing for the new king. But at the same time, the people of Magica City were very sad to see King Fares go.
The next morning, George and Natasha were preparing to go and see the witch queen of the city of Qama. Even the previous king was going with them, because he wanted to return to the other world.
To fulfill their promises, King Friendly Statue, Caty the Cat and Don the wooden donkey accompanied their friends to Qama.
“But don’t forget to return to Magica after you have completed your mission,” the old king told the new one. “Don’t forget that you are the king of Magica City now.”
They were now sitting in one of the rooms of the beautiful palace of Queen Imma the seventh. George, Natasha and the former king were really nervous. They were not sure whether the witch would be able to help them or not.
Suddenly, one of the maidens came and announced, “Her majesty wants to see you.”
So our friends followed the maiden to where the beautiful queen of Qama was sitting. She was sitting on her golden throne.
First, they introduced themselves to her.
King Friendly Statue explained, “These three friends of mine want to return back to their world. They want to go to the country of Canada. Could your majesty help them?”
“I believe I can,” she smiled. “I can transport them to wherever they want at once. So where do they want to land?”
“Near our house, your majesty,” replied Natasha.
“I will stay with them for a little while, and then I’ll travel to my own country,” added Fares, the former king.
So King Friendly Statue hugged his friends and said, “Please don’t forget me. If it wasn’t for you, I would’ve stayed in that park forever.” Then he left.
Caty the cat and Don the talking donkey also said goodbye and left.
So now, only George, Natasha and the former king were standing in the presence of Queen Imma the seventh. They were really nervous.
“Sit together and you shall be at the door of your house in a minute,” she told them. And they did.
