Chapter 4 - The Lost

It was the year 1524, I had been living under the Barratus house now for, almost two centuries, I was now the Police Chief, and my job every night was to destroy the evidence of vampires. It wasn't a long or hard job, but it was boring and I dealt with it every single night. Meanwhile I had been becoming more accustomed to The Lost and making a few friends among them. I had several with Ethan at work but I wiped his ass and I let him go. "The old watering inn" went out of business roughly one hundred fifty years ago. Jack took it over with "The Oul Pub" It's been doing business ever since. I like the place it’s a good and nice place and I enjoy the banter from Jack. Jack was someone I had stayed in contact with throughout the years. Needless to say Lucias didn't like my connections to The Lost members but, I didn't listen to him, he was happy to have me, he was beginning to fear me. In fact the entire police department feared me. Let's just say you didn't want to get arrested while I was working, my methods of interrogation were a little.... extreme. Lucias had me running errands for him and playing as his little toy but I wasn't like Razor, I put my foot down. I showed that suit, that I was alive and I wasn't going to take shit from him for all eternity.

I was down the pub when Jack called me over,

"Hey man, free drink on the house" he called me over and what can I say, I couldn't refuse

"I'm shocked you do such good business especially with the Chief of Police as one of your customers"

"Everyone knows the Chief has a life, just like us all, how many more centuries you going to work for that bastard Lucias"

"Until I find a way to show him a good way of saying, I quit, a stake to the heart would be fucking wonderful"

"You'd make a lot of people happy by doing that"

"Yeah, especially, your friend Ethan"

"Ethan would reward you handsomely"

"I've told you, it isn't about the money Jack, with the amount Razor gave me after the tournament, I'm set for life"

"You live for eternity, there's no such thing"

"I suppose so", A young man came over to us, "Excuse me Chief, my friend Ethan would like a word with you", The man walked back, Jack waved towards Ethan and got a half assed wave back, I turned from Jack saying "See ya" and headed towards Ethan.

"Ah Mr Smith, It's glad to make your acquaintance" Ethan said to me

"Don't play political shit with me Ethan, what do you want"

"Don't be so rude, I want to thank you for getting some of my boys out of jail"

"What can I say? I like pissing off my boss"

"There's always a place for you with The Lost"

"I'll remember that" I got up and went to leave, I bumped into the blacky purple haired girl from centuries ago, who like me still looked the same. We shared a glance and then we moved on, I left and went back to work."

"A stake to the heart would be fucking wonderful"
