Chapter 5 - October

"I can't believe it The Lost are like fucking rats! RATS! there numbers have multiplied in the last century! I'm telling you now Damon! You’re fired! FIRED! I can't put you as a police chief, you don’t enforce anything! Your lucky I don't stake you right now! You could be working for them for all I know!"

"Don't talk like that Lucias"

"You think I fear you! Sure I've heard the stories of your run ins with the Bloodmoon, but I have lived for thousands of years you are weak to me! I want you to recruit bring more and more recruits! The Lost want to multiply! I'll show them fucking multiply! They won't know what hit them! Why are you still here!? GO ON! Recruit me some new blood!

"Fine, I'm going, I'm going" I left the room and took the nearest cart to the nearest town just east of Galark, I arrived at the place and I must admit it was a shit hole, it was now 1642 and still the world was an uninteresting place. Sure a lot had changed but my life was the same, drink, talk and Lucias's constant nagging in my fucking ear. All I wanted was one interesting night, one change. Seriously, immortality is great, it’s the bee's fucking knees but when you go for three centuries and the most interesting day you've had is the day you died, something is fucking wrong. "WITCH" I turned to see, this young blonde haired girl running and a brown haired bearded man with a pitchfork charging after her. It was in 1423 that I learned witches were real, I knew this girl was one but I had to laugh at the image I don't know why it was just hilarious. The man was unfit, I could tell by his blood pulse, his heart had just enough energy to pump, the girl outran him but she soon tripped and fell and he caught up. She was soon surrounded by villagers and tied up, they had a small hearing I suppose you would call it and she was found guilty of witchcraft and sentenced to death. She was originally meant to be dropped into a lake and drowned but the villager who caught her wanted to kill her in revenge, they decided not only to tie her up and drown her but allow this villager Elijah to stab her first. I thought that was just cruel but I stayed and watched, I felt her pain as the blade pierced her gut and he pushed her in, I snuck around the outskirts of the village and swam to save her, I got her out of the water, down the lake and away from the villagers.

She looked into my eyes after coughing up the water in her mouth "Y...y.you saved me"

"Yes, but you don't have long left, I can offer you immortality, should you choose to accept it but otherwise you will die"

"Please help me, please take the pain away!" She cried

"I will, I promise", I drained her of blood and fed her my own, she drank it and drifted into a long sleep, when she finally awoke, she had no clue of where she was or what was going on. I knew for sure she used to be a witch when I saw her trying to command nature.

"It won't work, becoming a vampire severs your magic link"

"I'm a vampire?"

"You were dying, but I felt you were strong so I saved you"

"H.h.hh.how can I every repay you"

"To live life, to its full"

"Thank you, can I go with you"

"Sure what's your name?"

"October, yours?"

"Damon" The sunlight would be coming soon, we didn't have long we made our way back to Galark and decided the first thing we do was visit Lucias, we passed the security and went straight up. We reached the door and I turned to October "Yeah, you most likely won't like this guy so just smile and nod, it’s what I do" I opened the door and we walked in. "Damon, welcome home, and I see you have a new recruit"

"This is..."

"She can speak for herself, Damon" he interrupted me "What is your name, sweetheart"

"October."

"Ah, October, well aren't you just a delicate little flower, just what am I supposed to do with you"

"I...I don't know, sir"

"You don't know? So, Damon this is the best you could do?"

"She was a witch and they were executing her, I thought..." I said

"You thought!? What can she do now without her powers?" He interrupted me again

"I didn’t have powers and you turned me, look sir in all respect, multiply all you like, you have the stronger army, The Lost are weak compared to you, I feel October will make a good recruit and you can sit there in your leather chair and think otherwise, the thing is it's happened and there is nothing you can do about it now."

"How dare you talk to me like that!"

"Aw calm down seriously, have you listened to yourself"

"Right, get out of my office, I don't want you working for me at all, you’re just about welcome in the House of Barratus and I warn you Mr Smith you are on very very thin ice!"

"Well Lucias, this has been lovely as always but I'm going to go here and take October with me, was wonderful seeing you again like always, good day"

"GET OUT!" October and I left and didn't look back, I was scared of Lucias that entire conversation but I couldn't stand him anymore and I was glad to no longer be working in his shadow. I was still part of Barratus but only for so long, I expected him to throw me out of the Coven soon. Did I care? No, The Lost would embrace me with open arms, but I was getting fed up of it all, I didn't like taking orders, especially from people like Lucias, people who claim to have experience and do the right thing, my commanding officer all those years ago thought that. The difference is that night I died. Lucias didn't care about the world but I did. I see the world for what it truly is a playground, for its users to mould and shape to their will. I would over throw Barratus and I would be in charge.

"I see the world for what it truly is"
