It's been years since the war of good and evil. Stories have sprung from the roots of it, but no one really knows what actually happened.
It started with three people: two men and one woman. The three were friends, although one man, Devin, was the Lord of Darkness, the other, Luce, was the Lord of All Light, and the woman, Chasity, was the Maiden of Purity. It was destiny for Luce and Chasity to marry, yet it surprised people when Devin, who seemed loyal to them, decided to call the couple enemies. After all, Lord of Darkness or not, the three had grown up together and pledged true loyalty.
Of course, Devin had fallen deeply in love with Chasity, and all he could think of was her golden locks, her sparkling light blue eyes, and her lovely laugh and smile. However, Luce felt the same way for Chasity, and the boys would contantly fight over her. It wasn't a surprise when Luce won her over; after all, what is there to light if it is not pure?
Devin, overcome with the feelings of heart break and betrayal, let the darkness consume him until no sign of good was left in him. On the day after Chasity and Luce's wedding, Devin had declared war. The battle went on for years and years, until finally the three decided to meet together after so many lives were lost, and the fields were stained with their blood.
Chasity's purity finally had gotten through Devin, allowing him to reclaim his humanity. Stricken with horror and shock, he encased himself in an orb with the help of Luce and Chasity, where he waits to be freed. The orb was placed in a room of light, for the couple hoped it would wash away Devin's sins.
Meanwhile, Luce and Chasity continued to build up their kingdoms, and eventually had a child of their own. A daughter, Evangeline. She, like Devin, was placed in an orb of pure light, for Luce and Chasity had not wanted her to explore the world just yet, for she, too, might become darkened and unpure.
Treason broke out, and the kingdom that Luce and Chasity had worked so hard to build up was torn down. Many brave lives were lost trying to protect the king and queen, who had barely escaped with their life. The couple left with their child, and went far into the dangerous forests, where monsters were starting to appear because of the beginning of inhumanity and corruption. Only then did Luce and Chasity realize that it was coming from Devin, who was starting to release his darkness into the world. They were the only ones who could save humans from themselves.
Giving each other a final goodbye and hugging little Evangeline for the last time, they prayed for her protection. Before sacrificing themselves to save everyone, they allowed their powers to slip into their child, in hopes that one day, she might be able to defeat the darkness. Then, they sacrificed themselves, allowing the light and purity to wash over humans. Some dark ones remained. However, they were greatly outnumbered. To this day, people wait for the return of Luce and Chasity, in hopes that the world would once again be purified...
Finally, I wake up, the fresh memory still in my head. What was that about...? This constant dream that I have... Does it mean something? I look around to see the familiar room I've slept in. An old, almost broken down place, but it's my home and I cannot ask for anything more.
I rise from my bed, letting my silver-gold locks tumble down passed my shoulders. My pale blue eyes flicker around the room, in case there are any monsters that snuck in. I look through books, under my bed, through my clothes, under my desk... Nothing. No raverians flew into my room last night.
Thank goodness, I think. I hate the thought of having one of those annoying, screeching, glossy winged birds attacking me in my sleep. I settle down, taking out my usual outfit: a white sundress with a light pink cape and white armor boots. I barely had any gold to give when I bought this; before, all I had was a dress made from a sack. Thankfully, now, I know how to make money. Grabbing a silver bow and a quiver of arrows and my magic glove, I head out before climbing down from my tree house. I smile at it; I built it with the strength I had, and the magic I had left in me.
I slip my magic glove onto my right hand. Somehow, it enhances my aim when I shoot, and it helps me control my magic. As I walk, I think about it. Magic, that is. I'm not like the other mages, who can cast spells with the wave of a staff. I'm one of those hand mages; not a very good one, but I am one. I just can't control myself. Either I'm too weak, or too powerful, and I'm hoping I'm too powerful.
I finally see the sight of a cluster of huts. Racing towards Autumn Village, I stumble once I'm almost there.
"Ow..." I mutter. I have a cut on my leg. "I don't want to do this..." It looks pretty bad, and I guess I have to work on White Magic... "...Stitch..." I place my right hand on the cut, and a small pain comes from underneath the wound as I feel it coming together. "Heal!" A cool feeling comes from the glove, and the pain instantly stops. I take my hand off to see that the cut is completely gone. I've improved.
"Eve!" I hear voices call out. A boy's voice and a girl's voice. I look to see...
Messy dark brown hair, shining brown eyes, glasses, a happy grin. Blake.
Sun-kissed light brown hair, twinkling green eyes, a cheerful smile. Celandine.
"Oh, good morning." I say with a calm smile. They're my two best friends. "What's up?"
"Training is what's up!" Blake exclaims.
"Yeah! The Elder told us to get you so we can train!" Celandine says excitedly.
"Good. Let's go." I say, and the three of us go. Blake is wearing light silver armor, since he's training to be a Crossbow Knight, which is practically a knight that uses a sword and a crossbow. Celandine is wearing a light blue robe, since she's training to be a Color Mage, which is practically a mage that has different abilities.
Me? I'm... Different. I wasn't really meant to be anything. Blake and Celandine both follow their parents' footsteps, while I don't even remember my parents. I chose my class. A Pure Summage. I'm quite aware of the meaning of "summage", but the abilities of one is the best. I can easily counter attacks with a summoned creature or with black magic, although it isn't that good. Mostly, White Magic is what I excel in.
"Are you coming, Eve?" Celandine asks.
"Yeah, wait up!" I yell as I race to catch up with them. I've always been the smaller one, the younger one, although I'm only one year younger. The three of us run to the Sanctuary, where the Elder is waiting for us.
"Blake, Celandine, Eve," the Elder says. "Are you ready?"
"Ready as ever!" Blake exclaims.
"Alright... Give me a second, okay?" the Elder says. The three of us nod, and he disappears to the next room.
"What's that about?" I ask the two, who shrug in response. The Elder comes back.
"Okay, I shall teleport you to your training grounds." He says, and concentrates. His palms are stretched out as he focuses, eyes closed. When he opens them, he waves both of his hands quickly and says, "Teleport!" Instantly, my friends and I are transported to the forest, where there are monsters. They come towards us.
"Okay, you know the drill. Cast it, Eve!" Blake says. I nod, and I close my eyes, concentrating. I feel energy surging to my right hand, until I know that it's ready. If I overdo this spell, I could kill Blake.
I open my eyes and I point my palm at Blake. "Strength!" I say, and Blake's body is completely white, before it turns into orbs and speeds away, leaving Blake outlined with white. I did the spell perfectly.
"Thanks!" Blake says. I get out my bow and arrow and I shoot the monsters, but not all.
Celandine gets out her staff, and points it at a monster. She's better at magic than I am, and it only takes her a second to open her eyes and shout, "Thunder!" on a monster. After a while, we finally defeat all the monsters. I can feel myself getting stronger everyday.
"Come on, let's head back." Blake says, and we go to the teleporter. It won't work... We wait for a few minutes before finally, it works. We're teleported back to the Sanctuary, and we immediately hear screams. Shouts. Something is burning.
"Come on!" I yell, and the three of us go outside. Everything is on fire, including people. There are knights here... But they're not knights from the Castle. Their armor is pure black. The dark knights are slaying people....
"We have to help!!" Celandine says, and concentrates. She points her staff towards a group of houses, and yells, "Rain!" Water rains down, dousing the flame.
"Help!! Someone help me!" "Please, don't hurt me!!" "GAHH!" Screams are everywhere, and I see Blake fighting off a few knights.
"Heal!" I shout, healing Blake. Somehow, it wasn't that hard. I just shot up my hand and yelled it, and it worked. I look around, to see more and more people getting hurt.... What can I do?! Being the coward I am.... I run away. Faster and faster, before I trip.
"Hm. So, the bird got lost, did she?" I hear a dark voice say. I look up to see a man, only it didn't... Look like a man. He's wearing a full set of heavy armor that's the darkest I've ever seen. "Do not worry, your village's sufferings will end."
"You... You're responsible for this?!" I ask, horrified.
"Yes. Is there a problem?" The man asks, turning to me.
"Of course there's a problem!! You're killing people! You're burning down houses! How is that not a PROBLEM?!" I yell.
"You should have stayed in the forest." The man continues. "The old fool tried to save you, but being the children you are, you go back here." He reveals the Elder... Who's lying on the floor. Blood stains his robe. I slowly walk to him, before collapsing. The Elder was the one who took me in, gave me a chance to become a Pure Summage...
"HOW COULD YOU?!" I scream, tears streaming down. "How could you be so inhuman?! Killing innocent people?! What's wrong with you?!"
"Hm. There is nothing wrong with me." The man says, staring at the burning village. I clench my fists.
"You're disgusting!" I snap. The man turns to me again.
"I've spared your life, and this is how you thank me?" He asks. "It's not safe here. Would you like to join me?" he puts his hand out. "You can train to be just like me and my people, and no one will ever harm you."
"No!" I scream, getting up and backing away. "Get away! Leave me alone! Just die!!" I can feel all my anger and sorrow build up as I stand, firm on the ground. I'm losing it. The Elder told me to always remain calm, but I can't. "People like you... SHOULDN'T EXIST!!!" I shoot up my hand, pointing it at him, and I close my eyes. Before I can stop myself, I say, "Hear me, Odysseus, and let my anger fuel the power you deserve!" I open my eyes, glaring at the man who seems taken back by what I'm doing. "DARKENED WRATH!" Suddenly, shadows rise up and shoot forward, directly at the man. He screams, but I keep my hand up. As long as it's up, the spell won't stop.
"Wait... No, stop!" I say, gaining my humanity once again. My hand seems frozen in place. The shadows shoot at the man over and over again. "Stop!!" The shadows freeze. "Break!" They shatter. I'm breathing hard, and the man slowly gets up. Before he, or I, can say anything, I fall. The ground is the last thing I see.
