I felt a tingling on my lips and sudden unexplained anger bubbling in the pit of my stomach. I was puzzled by this, but then I quickly understood that it had something to do with Aidan.
I was not allowed to go to the Underworld, the second world law, so I was forced to call instead of visit.
I sighed, rolling my shoulders, as I walked slowly to the throne room, pulling out my cell phone and debating whether or not to call. Sitting on my throne, I rubbed my forehead for several minutes then flipped my phone open and dialed the number.
"Hello?" Aidan's voice snapped at me as she answered. I smiled.
"Why, hello. Have you gotten into trouble?" I asked her, my voice humming with amusement.
"No I just had a run in with a STUPID JERK!!!" the last part was shouted off at someone and I heard a low laugh. Instantly I sat up straighter.
"Who's there with you?" I growled.
"He's not with me anymore," she said and sighed. "I guess I could've handled that better."
"Who was that?"
"Some guy named Constantine. He invited me over to his castle thing, and then tricked me into kissing him."
Anger spread through my veins, hot and potent. So sharp and lethal that I wanted to forget the rule and teleport to the Underworld that very moment.
"I'm coming to get you," I said, standing.
"No, no. I'm fine. I'm on my way back to Thebes, my friend's, place. I left her there to follow that creep." She paused. "Shoot! I left Inferno back there. Crap, that means I'll have to go back." She sighed into the phone. "I really don't want to, though."
"Good, don't. Inferno will find his way back to you. He always will. In the mean time, stay away from that guy, okay?"
"No problem! I don't like him at all. In fact, I've already forgotten he exists. Who were we talking about again?"
I laughed.
"I don't know. But the conversation has been forgotten." Gilgamesh entered the room, waving me over to him. His face screamed urgency. "Listen, I have to run but I'll call you later."
"Okay," she said. "I'm looking forward to it. Bye."
"Bye." I flipped the phone closed. "What is it Gilgamesh?"
His face was pale as he wrung his hands and came over to me.
"There was an outbreak in the city between vampires and demons." He paused, hesitant.
"Spit it out!"
"I-I-I'm sorry, your highness, b-but Sadda was killed. I'm so sorry."
