PROLOUGE
I ran through the hallway, and looked behind me. The creatures were following me. Snapping my head forward, I concentrated on sprinting towards the door that would lead to my freedom. I knew Violet was waiting on me, and I couldn't afford to waste any time. As I made a quick left turn I jumped, grabbing on to the pole that was jutting out of the wall. I pulled my self up until I was standing on the cool, metal bar.
I watched as the creatures came around the corner. They searched for any traces of me, but couldn't find any sign of where I was. Slowly, I reached for the window that was directly above me. When I was about to touch the glass my foot slipped, causing me to slightly lose my balance.
“Ah!” I said under my breath.
The largest creature looked at me and hissed. His snake-like face split into two parts and spewed a green acid at me. I ducked and it hit the window that was behind me. The window was completely bulletproof (I knew from experience) but apparently not snake mucus-proof. A gaping hole melted in the glass where the acid had hit it.
First I looked at the creature, then at the hole.
“That works, too,” I said and jumped out into the cool night air. I heard one last hiss as I fell the full seven stories.
If you were me you would understand why I did this.
Seconds before I hit the ground and made a big splat in the middle of Bismark, Montana, I disappeared into nothing but a shadow.
