Prologue

“Blinque, come on man you know I want to try out the new ramp.” A ten year old Zane ordered his best friend. Blinque had stopped walking to tie his now loose Marc Ecko sneakers lace and was taking a bit too long for Zane’s liking. He stood there looking at Blinque annoyed, his tousled dark brown hair blowing loosely in the mild wind, his beautiful mercury silver eyes narrowed to slits and his small child like hand gripped his black and orange skateboard protectively. He was the average size for his age, seemingly powerless and weak. At least that’s to all those who don’t know him and what he’s capable of. The small boy looking down on his friend has the fate of the world and its people in his hand, not so powerless now is he?

“There,” Blinque finally said, standing to his full height, which was an inch shorter than Zane’s 4”9. “Happy? I’m finished.”

Zane nodded “Ecstatic, now let’s go.” The two ten year olds took off walking towards the new ramp that had been installed in the skate park. Upon seeing the ramp they stared sprinting. Blinque was the first to reach, he placed his skateboard on the ground and stared at the skating ramp awestruck, Zane smiled triumphantly at the ramp, eager to test it out. “Yes.” He whispered. As he was about to climb the steps on the ramp he heard the shriek of a girl.

“Let me go now!” Zane turned to the direction of the voice and saw a little girl probably his age or younger struggling frantically against an older boy. He growled under his breath and stomped over to the scene.

“Yo, she said let her go.” He told the taller guy who seemed to be twelve or a year more.

The boy looked at him stupidly “Mind your business, punk.”

Zane shook his head at the pathetic child. “Don’t be a fool, ass wipe, and let go of the chick.” He heard her gasped at the word chick,he wanted to smile desperately, but he bit it back. The boy did as he was told but not to obey Zane, no, he had other intentions and that was to beat up this idiot moron who dared test his patience. Zane knew what was coming and attacked before the older boy had the chance. He punched the guy in his stomach and was expecting an instant fall, to Zane's surprise, it didn’t happen. The older boy hit him across the face. Zane barely felt the blow that could probably take any other ten year olds down but due to the fact that he’s not a ten year old human, he was still standing. The boy stared at Zane shockingly and went in for another strike. Zane side stepped him and mustered up some of his power for his next attack. With much practiced skills he scissors kicked the big oaf of a human in the chest knocking him out.

He stared boringly at the limp body.

“K.O.” Someone giggled bringing his attention to them. Zane looked at the beautiful girl before him; she was an angel, soft, sweet and perfect. With shoulder length black hair in a pony tail, consuming clear blue eyes and rosy cheeks. Her milky skin glowed heavenly under the sunlight making her appear preciously inhuman. Yes,she truly is an angel, he was stunned by her.
“Thank you.” She said in a hypnotizing voice, Zane nodded because he couldn’t find his voice. She smiled at him exposing her adorable double dimples. “I’m Musique and you are..?” She asked. Her name fitted her exquisitely; her voice was exactly like music, peaceful, melodic music that massaged his ears lovingly. Zane cleared his throat. “I’m ummm… I mean my name is Zane.”

“And I’m Blinque.” She stared at Blinque questioningly, once her eyes met his; he furrowed his brows in recognition… It’s her. Zane on the other hand had forgotten all about this beauty who he had met before and was now falling for her.

“There you are Muse well come on sweetie, we should be leaving now, we still have some more packing left.” Some adult said, breaking Zane’s admiration. Stupid grown- ups. Musique turned to Zane. “Bye Zane I have to go. Later Blinque.” She was about to leave when Zane grabbed her wrist. “Will you be back tomorrow?”

She shook her head sadly. “Nope, I’m moving to Canada.” Zane felt like something broke inside of him. She’s leaving me. He reluctantly released her wrist slowly. “Bye, my lovely Musique.” The eight year old girl smiled miserably and hugged her new friend, before walking away. Zane left the park somberly no longer in the mood to skate.
