Delilah soon finds herself struggling to get out of a place she had so easily walked right into. Even after calling the police, she finds there is little hope of ever leaving.
And her worst fear is not only that she'll be enslaved and treated like a dog for the rest of her life, but that she may not have much of her life left.

Ravaging, Delilah thought. A good kind, a perfect kind. Shane's lips were all over her. He tore at the simple white dress she had chosen to wear to their sixteen minute wedding. It felt better being married, and her parents would be proud if they knew. She hoped they would, at least.

Delilah's chest arched up to Shane. Then it hit her, for a short second, of who she was married to exactly. Though she hadn't thought about it much, she had given a full night's thought to it before, only to be distracted the next day.

"Shane." she murmured. "I have a question."

Shane looked up, glaring. "Of course you do."

She rolled her eyes. "It's good to know I am married to a patient man."

"If you knew how long it has been since I have laid with a woman, you would think I was the most patient man on earth."

"I'm going to get back to that, but I don't want to be distracted." she took a deep breath. "There have been so many bad people throughout history. Like Adolf Hitler for example. You knew about him right?"

He narrowed his eyes. "Of course." he replied, his voice full with suspicion.

"If you knew about him, what he was doing, why didn't you stop him? You could have killed him, I'm sure. No one would have seen you, what with your being able to vanish in and out so quickly."

He chuckled. "When there is someone like me, who has been alive for a very long time, you do go through a phase where you are determined to find every single bad human and destroy them. I've killed many wife beaters, murderers, child rapists, so on. By the time Adolf Hitler had come around, I was long over that phase-"

"So you just let him have all of those innocent people murdered?" she accused.

He held up a hand. "Do not interrupt me Delilah, you know better. I did try to kill him, many times. He was being protected though, by ones of our kind. A lot of evil people throughout history have been protected by our kind, those of us who are evil and wish for world domination." He rolled his eyes now.

"Idiots. There wasn't much I could do. Even at the camps... You would be surprised at how many Nazis were of my kind. I saved some, but never enough. It's always haunted me, that I couldn't save them all. With my gifts, I felt as if it were partly my fault. Their murders have always laid on my shoulders.

"I celebrated too when his empire came crumbling down. I've tried Delilah, I've tried to stop those people. You forget too, that only recently I've begun to really feel again. I've been evil myself for a long time. I've never lost it completely though, the compassion. I tried..." his voice had lowered to a soft whisper, and she saw his eyes were far away now. It was a few moments before he came back, and looked at her. "Perhaps I should have tried harder."

She shook her head, ran her hands over his arms. "It doesn't sound like you could have tried any harder than you did. Shane, I'm so proud of you." She felt tears of shame and joy, tears for his hurting and his guilt, and tears for her proudness and her love for him. She hugged onto him, held him close. "I love you so much. You have no idea how it makes me feel to know that you cared. Thank you Shane, I needed to know that."

He rubbed her back, held her just as tightly. "Perhaps we could make love now?" he murmured.

She laughed, hearing the yearning in his voice. "Just one more question?" she asked.

He sighed. "One more."

"How many women exactly have you slept with?" she asked, trying not to sound jealous like she felt.

He huffed out a breath. "I'm only telling you this because you're my wife. Too many to count. If I had known I would find you one day though, I would have never touched another woman."

She nodded. "I believe you. Would you like to know how many men I've slept with?" she asked.

"You'd better not tell me that. I'll find them and kill them." he warned.

"I've never had real sex with anyone. The closest I've come was when a guy stuck his hands down my pants on a date once. Aside from when I came here..." she shuddered. "He was a total pervert. I still have a restraining order against him. Anyway, that's about all there is. I've had a few boyfriends, but nothing that lasted longer than a month or so. I just thought you should know."

"You do realize that I can find that restraining order and see who that boy was. If I ever find out he will be extinguished."

She shook her head. "Men." she muttered. "So how long has it been for you now? How patient are you exactly?"

"Almost fifty years." he informed her.

She giggled. "How old was she?" she asked.

He cocked an eyebrow. "Mid twenties I believe."

She laughed loudly now, then bit her lip. "Nice. Do you think she's still alive?"

"As a matter of fact I know she is." he replied. "I've always looked out for and taken care of the women I've slept with. She's been married, and now has seven grandchildren." He smiled. "She's very happy."

Delilah nodded, feeling proud again. "How many times did you tell me you were a bad guy? Sheesh, you make Ghandi look bad almost. You've killed bad people, you've taken care of the women you've slept with. You're not so bad Shane. I feel bad now, though. I've really pissed you off before. I must be a horrible person." she muttered, thoughtful now.

Shane smiled and kissed her temple. "I am not a good person Delilah. I've hurt many people, I've killed for reasons far less noble than others. I nearly raped you almost two weeks ago. Do you not recall that incident?"

"A lot has happened since then." she replied. "If I'm being honest, I wasn't exactly happy about you throwing me onto your desk, but I was turned on. I probably would have enjoyed it, even though I was scared and pissed off."

"You said you would never truly be mine." he reminded.

She grinned at him. "I changed my mind." She jumped on him and kissed him to prove it.
