My name is Cressida Vladimir and this is my story. Before I tell you my story, let me begin with a little background information on vampires.
I am sure all of you know about vampires right? Well what you know of us is not true. You are all familiar with the ancient vampire, Dracula, I presume. Well, he did exist, but he didn’t kill his victims. One of the major stereotypes against us vampires is that we are bent on killing mankind and turning them into one of us. That is soo not true, let me tell you. We only drink enough blood to sustain ourselves. We can survive for exactly four days on one liter of blood. When we can’t get human blood we will go out and “hunt” for other animals, like deer, bears, or bobcats. Personally, I like bear blood the best.
Humans know of our existence so we are not totally in the dark. Many of us vampires work in morgues and hospitals. If, for example, there is a patient in the hospital that is going to die, the patient and their family have the choice of letting them die a peaceful death or getting turned into one of us. The only downfall to being a vampire is once you are turned, you stay at whatever age you are, however, there is a loophole around this. Say you are turned into a vampire when you are 17, you won’t stay that age, the day you hit 18 years of age, and you are forever going to be 18. If you are an adult when you get turned, you stay that age.
All around the world, there are special academies. They are like colleges, but they have a very strict admittance. Meaning in order to attend the academy, you must be a vampire, or a human who is going to be either a permanent blood donor or a vampire transferee (a human who is choosing to be a vampire). In each academy there are four years you must complete and a wide range of classes you can attend. There are classes that teach vampire history, combat classes, and even classes for the humans, depending on which they are doing. Each vampire is required to take one magic class, and no, by magic I do not mean Harry Potter magic, I mean elemental magic. Each vampire has their own special ability, depending on which element they have control over. There are seven different elements that a vampire can master. Earth, water, ice, wind, fire, shadow, and the rarest of all, spirit.
Well, I think I have told you all that you need to know about vampires… but of course! How could I be so stupid? I have told you all of this information, but never once told you about me. My name is Cressida Vladimir and I am a 17 year old freshman at the Omak Academy in Vaults burgh, New York and I am a shadow elemental. That is all you really need to know about me, that and the fact that I am about to die……………………………………………………
