The moon glimmered over her skin, consuming her in a halo of liquid silver. Her long eyelashes fluttered ever so slightly against her cheek. As her dream deepened, her brow furrowed and the edges of her mouth curved into a grim smile.

“Anastasia! Wait up!” the girl panted as she chased after her best friend. Anastasia turned around as she laughed gaily, her long blonde hair seemed to be molten gold as it spilled over her delicate frame. Her aquamarine eyes sparkled with laughter, and something else that the girl couldn’t detect. She stared as Anastasia climbed over the mountain of boulders and scrambled into the opening of Moon Cave. It was dangerous and both girls knew it, but that was the fun part. Knowing that everything you did would affect whether or not you would live to see the next day.
Anastasia had promised her something, something that she needed her best friend for. She turned back and stared at the girl who was falling behind. Anastasia took one last look at her. She looked at the locks of chestnut hair that cascaded in gentle waves down her best friend’s shoulders. She looked at her fair skin tinged with scratches from tripping on the rocks. She looked into her emerald eyes, filled with nothing but trust and loyalty. Anastasia stared at the necklace dangling from her neck, a silver pendant in the shape of a circle, and dangling in the center of the circle was a diamond angel spreading its silver wings . She reached to her neck and touched the matching necklace dangling from her own neck, except her angel was onyx, a black angel.
“How much further?” the girl asked Anastasia as she reached her. Anastasia smiled softly and pointed into the belly of the cave, her eyes turning into an electric blue. The girl stared at her carefully and asked her, “Did you have a vision Ana?” Anastasia nodded silently, the smile fading from her mouth. She reached out a hand to touch the girl, sharing part of her vision. It was a gift, a talent that only they shared. The girl saw only what Anastasia showed her; a vision of the two girls walking into the cave to complete what hadn’t been finished. Anastasia ended the vision abruptly and pointed anxiously to the cave, running deep into the depths, knowing that the girl followed her.
“Wait Ana!” but she did not wait. She ran until she couldn’t run anymore, she ran until the path ended, until the tears in her eyes stopped spilling. The girl caught up to her, shaking her shoulders. “Don’t ever do that again! At least summon a light or something next time, I don’t want you to fall down and hurt yourself, okay Ana?”
Anastasia stared up into her best friend’s eyes once again, making contact with those startling emerald eyes. She touched her hand and looked inside, connected with her, felt the bond that they shared. No matter what Ana did to her, she would always remain loyal and faithful to her. And the same went to Ana, no matter what her best friend did to her, she would never leave her. Ana took one last look at her best friend and hugged her close, feeling the warmth between their two bodies. The girl hugged her back, puzzled and confused, yet worried at the same time. “It’s okay Ana, I’m here, I’ll always be here for you.”
Anastasia drew the knife hidden up her sleeves, and stabbed her best friend. The girl stepped away, her eyes showing the shock, the pain, the betrayal that she felt. Anastasia had to finish this quickly before she died, she drew another knife and slit her own wrist, letting her crimson blood drip into the wound of her best friend. She closed her eyes and began to whisper incantations, she struggled to hold onto her best friend’s soul as she began to bind her. As the girl began to lose consciousness, she saw a silver light spreading across her body. She looked into Ana’s eyes, and saw no emotion. As the pain subsided, she felt her body begin to heal, the wound across her back was quickly closing and was replaced with a cooling sensation.
The girl stared at Ana, stared at those cold eyes. Though the pain was gone and her wound was healed, she was quickly drifting into unconsciousness. The last thing she remembered was Ana staring back at her coolly as she said,
“Your name is now Alexis. You belong to me, serve me well, and I will make you my Alpha.” As the girl closed her eyes, she thought she saw a silver tear fall from Ana’s blue eyes, she thought she saw a glimpse of emotion in those cold hard eyes.
