When I got there it was quiet and the sun had just started to come down. I was using all of my force to try to find him. After no one showing up, but simply hiding in the shadows, I growled, long and low. My meaning of that was to say, come and fight, or go away. Not long after, I could feel the shadow come up slowly this time. Making it clear that it was willing to fight!
I started to run full force to look like I was going to run straight at him and attack, but this thing has no clue who he’s dealing with, and that is Amber, the shape-shifter of Willow’s Creek. So half way between him and to where I was first standing, I gave a great leap to get a good flying start. That seemed to amaze it so I was able to go a first attack in of a claw swipe of a panther’s hind foot, from a Golden Eagle. As soon as I saw blood, I congratulated myself, and circled around for a second hit. But it had gathered its senses back after the first hit, and with lightning fast speed, it hit me to the ground. It was a really hard hit, but I was fine except for a few scratches.
Getting up as a Black Panther, I decided to it would be easier to attack and get more damage this way. We circled each other, and all I could really tell from the beast, was that it was a he, it looked human, but a much stronger, and faster one. I could see the darkness in his eyes, and a spark that seemed oddly familiar. But I didn’t care, as long as it didn’t hurt my friends, I will be perfectly happy. Still circling, I was looking for the best place to attack, and for any wild animal, always go for the legs, so it can’t run, and the throat for the kill. So first I should get rid of the legs, that give it speed, and then the arms that protect the throat, and then it was at my mercy. Tragic in a way, but still!
The fight wasn’t going that bad, for either sides! I could see his lunge before it even happened, and it wasn’t hard to step aside, but his finger nails caught part of my shoulder, tearing the skin into shreds like what shark teeth do. That did hurt a lot! I knew that I would need Sapphira, but I couldn’t take the only other protection to Sophia and Molly away. That wouldn’t at all be fair! I would have to suck up the pain and come up with some really good excuse that could pass my mother, without being banded from my forest. That part really got me going, about never seeing my family any more, and that this is my home and my forest. I was going to win, I live here, have a home with a family that loves me very dearly here, and this is where I almost lost to the strange beast at Willow’s Creek.
After my shoulder was ripped into shreds, I whipped around to face this beast, but for some reason, I knew him. I know him, and he knows me, but we were in attack mode that we couldn’t think of anything else by to kill the other. Knowing this I froze, and I could see, him coming back slower, and carefully, looking to see what I would do next. I couldn’t move, he could tell that I was being held down by some kind of force, and decided to go into a running tackle. I could see what he was going to do, and the some force that was holding me down, was not dark, but almost seemed to be coming from my necklace itself. I still wouldn’t dare call it away from my two friends, because it I fail to defeat it, they would be next.
Oh man, the super, human, monster was running right up and not only that I couldn’t move out of the way, I couldn’t change shape, I was stuck a Black Panther, I may be strong that way, but not strong enough. He is almost up to me, and he knows I’m stuck, and so my growls are no use. I give up! I changed my deep threating growl to I’m scared and don’t hurt me one, with a softer tone. I’m doomed! I closed my eyes less than a second before impact. I think I went back into darkness, but I was able to recover in a few moments, because I opened my eyes and I was still flying through the air with the force.
When I hit the ground I looked up to see Damon, but not a school smart, calm boy. He was an animal, he had a pair of fangs, his eyes darker, and no sign, but to kill in them. His eyes, were the scariest thing about it alongside the fangs that he now had. They were pitch black, not dark, dark brown of the eye color could be seen, you could barely see the whites of his eyes. I doubt that if any of the girls at school would be terrified of him as long as they lived if they saw him this way.
I was able to move again, and I could change, I changed into a baby panther, but he was too quick for me to escape. He grabbed me by my middle, I couldn’t think of anything else to do, but to change back into human, and hope he’ll remember and not kill me. As I changed his grip, moved to a flat unbreakable hands gripping both sides of my shoulder, so that I couldn’t move much.
I saw he was going in for the kill, I felt his breath on my neck, every muscle in my body tensed, then I felt him move his gaze back to my face, and everything changed. His fangs changed into regular canines and eyes showed recognition and worry, and changed into normal human eyes. He looked at me, then his hand, and to my frightened friends huddled by the tree clutching a necklace. Damon stood up, and held out a hand to me, but I brushed it away. You know that I don’t ask for help, no matter who they are. I started to stand, but the throb in my shoulder was now at full force with blood still running down in rivers, with no hint of stopping. I was couldn’t get up, changing into a panther wasn’t much luck either. I didn’t dare change into an eagle. I tried once again, before, changing back into human. Calling for my necklace I tried once more getting no success.
Everyone was just watching knowing that I would push any help away without a sideways glance. I knew that I was in too much pain, my shoulder was in shreds, and I just realized that my leg was hurt too. I had a nasty cut on the side of my thigh rip almost to the bone. This was when I then swallowed up my pride and asked for help. But before Sophia and Molly tried to lift me, Damon said, “I must have done all of this, haven’t I?! I’m sorry for scaring you Sophia, Molly! And I’m dreadfully sorry about what I did to you, Amber, I didn’t at all mean to hurt you, I just didn’t know it was you, as an animal and everything. Sorry! I think that you’ll need my help.” And ignoring my protest he gently lifted me up with ease. “You should all come to my room at the boarding house, you can’t go home with those cuts, and that leg and your friends will be able to help me out.” No one would protest, because we all knew that we were going to the boarding house whether we like it or not.
