I felt his mind touch, I resented it at first, for being so close to the feeling of darkness like at the dance.  My brain went straight to fight, I was doing a good job pushing away darkness, because I was able to fight off that last one, but that one was much stronger, so it was disappearing like a dream.  But then I hear the bell tone sounds like of the prophecy being told, they didn’t tell me what they have been telling me all the time before though.  They said, “Listen, he is trying to help and make up for his mistake.  You do need him, so let go, and listen.  Search for the mysteries, look inside him too.”  I just hate those saying that those strange voices say, but I have always listened, and why should I stop now.  I really need rest, I just hate to ask anyone for help, even if they did owe me it.  It just that I don’t want to, I want to be a little kid that doesn’t obey, but I’m not.

I stopped pushing and I realized that this darkness was as dark, it was a very dark, soft bluish black.  I started to look into that darkness, and I couldn’t see a thing, what on earth did they mean when look inside him too.  Anyway I could feel the darkness slowly making me sleep as I took a bit of notice to what was happening with my physical senses.  I could tell that Damon’s wrist was still on my mouth, and the other on my hand.  I could also tell that I was swallowing his blood, I hate to think of drinking pure blood, bloody meat, to great, just not as a drink.  I couldn’t put anything together after that, because that was when I went into full rest, in a nice, warm sleep, of gentle blue darkness.

I barely remember falling asleep, but I really must have, because I did wake up.  I pushed myself and stretched out my arms while yawing.  As a looked about, an overwhelming fear started to come to me.  I knew I it must have been night still, because outside the window was dark, and I knew that I was in Damon’s room, and that Sophia, and Molly were supposed to be here too.  I got up, and I was slightly wobbly on my feet, but anyway, I started to wonder around.  First to the bathroom, then to look at the bed I was in.  Searching the floor to see where my friends camped out.  Even with my amazing panther night vision, I couldn’t see very well.  I could make out the windows were the light from the moon shown through, and the bed, couch and bathroom.  Wait there is a couch?  How could I have missed that?!  The tiptoed to the couch and peered over to see someone sleeping.  Nothing at all hit me that this was the owner to the room, but to me he was a total stranger.  He stirred, and I jumped back, hitting a standing lamp, that sounded a defying crash to the floor.  It wasn’t that loud, but a break in the still silence was loud enough to be so.  The man jumped up with lightning speed, and looked around.  I had barely enough time to change into a panther cub and duck behind the bed.  Crawling under, I stared out with fearful eyes, when something, hit me.  This man may be scary, but I’m powerful, and so I shouldn’t cower in the corner, but fight.  Whispering to Sapphira to protect me, I leaped out, into a fully grown, fully dangerous Black Panther.  Growling low and threating, to stay back!  The strange man whipped around, and stared at me in a surprise.  What he did surprised me more than ever, he crouched low so we were eye to eye and then he started to talk in a calm, and soothing voice.  Softly, he talked, what he was saying didn’t enter my brain at all, like one would do to a frantic animal, but I’m a beast that can’t be tamed.

Still growling, I step forward hoping that he back, a bit.  But he held his ground, and then it was his turn to slowly make his way to me.  Unlike him, I backed away, until my back hit the wall, I can’t stand this anymore.  Giving up was no option for me, but the guy doesn’t know that, so let’s not tell him.  I stopped my threats and sat, and I waited until he was at arm’s reach, before a gave a great leap, then transforming into an eagle.  Flying to the top of the room, I flew to the other corner seeing if the windows were open.  None were, I flew past to the opposite wall to where he was before changing into a Panther again.  I hate chases, well if I’m the one chancing then yes I like it, but if I’m the one being pursued then no.

Seeing that the door was the only way out, I dashed to it, and quickly transformed into my human form, and turned the nob to the door. Shoot, it is locked!  I couldn’t run again, because when I turned around, I was face to face with the stranger.  He grabbed me by the arms, so I couldn’t fight back.  He dragged me over to the bed and made me sit, and reached over to turn on the lamp standing on the side table.  Staring into my eye’s he asked, “Amber, Amber, look at me.  It’s okay!  Do you know who I am?”  After looking into his face for some time, I was able to remember exactly what happened last night, and what order they happened in.

“I know now.  I didn’t remember, before, or more as, my memory was all scrambled up.  Sorry for causing and fright and everything, Damon.”

“That’s okay, let’s just hope that Mrs. MacDoodle didn’t hear any of it, and decide to come and investigate.  Why on earth were you so frightened about, I could feel it in the air?”

“Oh, it wasn’t really much to worry about.”

“For me it is, so would you please tell me so I could help out.”

“Fine, I awoke remember that I was brought up here, and that Sophia and Molly should be sleeping on the floor.  But when I went to wake them, and tell them everything was better, I couldn’t find them.  I did come across you though, and I was startled and jumped back.  I didn’t recognize you and for some reason a fear rushed through me.  And I always fight back, as you already know.”

“Oh, you were asleep for 2 days.  And Sophia and Molly only stayed a night, but has visiting every day.  That’s why they’re not here.”

“Anyway, I’m sorry, for all the trouble I’m causing.  I don’t say sorry very often, but you should know how grateful I am for you helping me up, and letting me stay here until I was better and just watching over me.  I am deeply thankful for everything, and I hope I didn’t cause you a big mishap.”

“No not at all!”

“Anyway, I’m good to go, and so I’ll be going.  I just hope that this will never be needed again.  So see ya!”  As I walked to the door, I didn’t bother turning back, I just grabbed my backpack and left.  You may think that I wasn’t grateful at all, I am, and now I going home.  Right after I meet Sophia and Molly in the forest.  Our favorite spot, where nobody come, under the old Japanese Maple Tree.  Then I’ll suffer the faith of the yelling of my parents, and I dearly hope that they won’t notice the few dark bruises left from all the open wounds.

I didn’t notice at all that I had already walked to the edge of the forest, and I leaned against the fence as I called both of my best friends to meet me.  As I got to the meeting spot, I sat down, and looked up at the sky.  It was such a pretty night, okay, not quite night time yet, but you could see the moon and the brightest starts poking out from the dark blue sky.  I couldn’t see the sunset, but I could tell that a few of the cloud were orange and purple.

As I was admiring the sky, I heard a branch snap to my left.  I bolted up right, and growled a “who’s there.”  Nobody answered, I didn’t want to stay around to be jumped out at, so with one great leap, I flew into the air in a flurry of golden feathers.  Up high, I searched for the stalker, but no one could be seen.  I glided in circles, because I promised Sophia, and Molly that I would meet them here.

As a looked this way and that, I caught a glimpse of Sophia walking to the meeting spot, cursing with every pine branch that whipped at her face.  I could tell that I should find a better spot for our meetings.  When Sophia reached the clearing, she gave a long irritating sigh.  Looking around for a shadow among the shadows, she finally looked up.  Molly was almost there by the time I landed and set foot back as a human.
