Prologue: A history of the Universe
More than six eons ago, the universe began. No one is clear on how it came to be, but theories range from a mere cosmic coincidence, to divine power. The most commonly accepted theory is that the simple act of Time and Space meeting at one point is enough to instantly create 'reality' where ever it intersects. Whatever the case, as Ancient Aladorian legends go, it is clear that where ever the universe came from, something... might have followed it.
The gods began shaping the unstructured, unorganized universe into something more. They created galaxies, planets, stars, moons, all of the things that exist in the night sky and more. They wrote all of the laws of magic and science, laying the foundations for order. At the height of their creation, they created a world, one unique from the rest of the worlds, they endowed it with the strength of their will, this one planet became a garden of paradise which to create mortal races one day. The gods placed it near the center of the universe, and gave it the name, Aladoria. Its star was given the name 'Galthedrial', meaning, "The Lady". At the end of their labors, the gods finally stopped their work and admired their creation... while they could. For while they came out of the void to give shape to the universe, as the instruments of Order and Creation, something else began to creep after them, from the void, born from the void, to return all to the void.
The Demon emerged. Born from the void, for one terrible purpose, that being the end of all things, its forgotten name is rumored to literally mean, "The One Chosen to Destroy". Simply known as The Demon of Apocalypse, its terror and might far surpassed the limits of the gods, it knew no equal, no master. It was said to be the representation of all that is evil, hatred, lust, greed, malice, every last cruel and wicked thing was its power, and so began the Battle of Creation.
For thousands of years, the gods and the Demon waged war, the demonic armies of the One Demon clashed violently with the mighty celestial armies of the gods, while the two leaders of the gods, the Goddess of Light Irintis, and the Goddess of Darkness, Luminta, faced off with the demon itself. After thousands of more years fighting, Luminta was spent, her power drained, unable to continue. The Demon then sent her aside, she traveled so far she was lost forever; the gods could find no trace of her. The Demon soon turned its attention to the lone Goddess of Light, Irintis. Irintis bravely fought, but could no longer hold it back. With a might blow, the Demon cast her aside and marched to Aladoria, left almost completely unprotected.
The only defender left was the younger sister of Irintis, Aladimia. She would become known later for the creation of several Mortal races, such as the Fairies. She gazed on the crumpled form of her sister Irinitis, and knew she had to do something, lest the whole Universe fall. Gathering all of her strength, she split it, soul and body apart. Its soul was trapped in Aladoria's core, while the body was thrown to Limbo, the world beyond time and space. Weak, Aladimia barely managed to seal away the dark demon's powers, and saved the entire Universe... so goes the legend. However, the story of this legend has been lost to time... and none now live who know of its dark toll.
Millions of years later, the Dragons were born. Dragons, were created by Irintis, and infused with the power of the elements by the Elemental Gods, their lifespan and strength boosted by the gift of the god of magic. The first of the mighty dragons to evolve were the Primal Dragons, Hurricane, Vulcan, and Arcane. These three lone dragons would reform the damaged worlds, and reshaped all of Aladoria, whose surface was damaged by the ancient War of Creation. These dragons were immortal, and only served to restore balance to Aladoria. But in time, new dragons emerged. These dragons were by far the strongest. They were called Grandfather Dragons, but their long deceased remains are referred to as 'Dawn Dragons' today. From the Grandfather Dragons, three types of weaker but more diverse dragons were born, Chromatic, Gem, and Metallic. Under the leadership of the Grandfather Dragons, Aladoria lived in quiet peace for millions of years, thus dawned the Age of Dragons.
But, it was not to last. At the end of their reign, the Grandfathers were betrayed by a young Grandfather Dragon named Ramok, who had become corrupt by the powers of Darkness, and mercilessly slaughter his own kind. No one knows what became of the black monster, but no trace or whisper exists of this age, all myths and legends of it, like the ages before it, vanished.
Despite the odds, the three lesser species of dragons survived and created their own empires, though they would not last. During this brief primitive era, the first humanoids appeared, some very much in draconic nature, though many disappeared. After thousands of years, humanity and the elven kind appeared, and fairies would soon follow after. As the Dwarves and Vampires came into existence, Aladoria would once again be thrown into upheaval. A mighty race called the Drackin descended on Aladoria, only three thousand years after the fall of the Grandfathers. They quickly enslaved the humanoids, and made five great empires, the North, West, South, East, and Sky Legions. For millions of years, they would rule all of Aladoria, unopposed.
About 5 million years after the foundation of their global dominion, three Drackin noble children rebelled from their father, then ruler of the West. Their names were Darksi, Torik, and Orvanous. The Goddess Irintis looked on the three with favor, and granted them each an aspect of her power. Darksi shed his name and became the Dragonling Alexandi, the first of his kind. Torik and Orvanous soon joined him, and they founded the mightiest race to walk Aladoria, the Chromatic, Gem, and Metallic Dragonlings. In the terrible fighting, Orvanous was slain; ending his line forever, but in the end, Alexandi and Torik prevailed and defeated all of the Drackin Legions, banishing them to the heavens once more.
The Dragonlings freed the slaves of the Drackin, Fairies, Humans, all of them. Once uplifting them and allowing them to create their own nations, the Dragonlings departed further south, where two great kingdoms were born, the Gem and Chromatic Dragonling Kingdoms. There, they would enjoy a thousand years of peace, before the inevitable began. The bloodiest war of history began.
After a mysterious surprise attack on the Fariywoodlands's ruler, the fairies quickly launched a violent assault on the Dragonling Nations, splitting them apart, in two. Though it was barbaric savage dragonlings responsible for the attack, the fairy king, Quin Crown cast the Dragonlings as devils and savage peoples who only cared for the slaughter of other peoples, and so were a direct threat. For mysterious reasons, the king of the Chromatic Kingdom, Alexandi, once savior of the people now at war with him, pleaded for peace for many years, but his pleas were never heard. After countless years of Torik's urging and the growing death toll, Alexandi finally gave up his faint dream for peace and prosperity and began a co-operated counterstrike against the fairies. Their luck had finally ended, and the dragonlings unleashed hell on the much smaller Fairywoodlands.
For every murdered child, for every wife taken from them, the dragonlings did double, even triple. No longer a people of peace and kindness, saviors of a whole world, the Dragonling's pain and suffering turned into blind rage, and their massive army threatened to completely annihilate all fairy kind. But, by a mere miracle, the tide turned, and the fairies routed Alexandi and Torik's armies back into their homeland, and then into the Chromatic Peninsula, where the final battle took place at Alexandi Hall, Alexandi's capital city. There, Alexandi made his last stand against Elizabeth Crown, daughter of Quin Crown, the king. Alexandi gave his life to buy time for Torik and the rest of his people to flee, the ruins of his own castle fell and crushed him. Elizabeth attempted to give chase, but the Dragonlings in their last hour, worked a spell that would never be cast ever again, for some magics are beyond replication. They literally shattered the whole peninsula, much of it fell into the ocean, including Alexandi Hall, and the Dragonlings were not seen since.
During the fighting in the war, Dameus Crown perished at the hands of several Dragonling Soldiers, but his twin, Danica Crown survived. After the war, one last terrible incident struck the whole war-stricken continent. A mighty hurricane, a thousand times stronger than any natural hurricane before or since, called the Year of Storms, stuck with violent fury, decimating the whole of the coast. Although devastating, many people survived the incident, though the nation was completely leveled. The Year of Storms had literally lasted a whole year.
But just as the people began to celebrate their very lives, one last terrible incident doomed the King's career as King. A mysterious figure attacked without warning almost immediately after the storm had abated, battling with Quin and Elizabeth fiercely, before critically wounding Quin with a deadly stab to the heart with a poisoned blade. In the end, the being was sent over the tall Feltatus Bay cliffs, and was never seen again. Due to the terrible incident, Quin was forced to resign; the people's opinion about him was already deadly low.
Elizabeth Crown and her husband, Thomas McCarthy became king and queen in Quin's stead, and their surviving children, Danica, Ore, and Abigail Crown became the royal heirs to the throne.
Fourteen years have now past since the war, now called the Great Aladorian Blood War, and Danica has become commander of the nation's armed forces. Her tale begins, as well as the fate of the world.
