A cold dark moon loomed over the city’s majestic buildings. Pools of silver light illuminated the pavements bellow. The streets were solitary and a symphony of lampposts flickered out of existence. Two small figures were huddled close together near a park bench. The wind started to pick up. It wrestled with the leaves and forced them to dance in its presence. The two figures loosened their grip and stared at each other. A pool of light fell over them and revealed a man and a young woman. The man held the woman close and kissed her on the forehead. The woman welcomed the kiss with one of her own. She kissed him in the lips and smiled. “Finally” she said softly.
The man coughed a laugh and replied “I only wish I could be with you for a bit longer” The woman’s face saddened as soon as the words escaped his mouth. She nodded and turned away. “I don’t want to live like this. Why don’t you just dump her and get it over with?” she asked. The man’s face turned cold and said “I made a promise to her that I would marry her and to tell you the truth, I’m not even supposed to be seeing you” She backed away slowly in protest and sat down on the bench. “But she’s crazy, you know that. She’s been in the hospital for most of her life and you’re telling me that you’re choosing her over me?” the woman said angrily. “I’m sorry” he replied softly. The man leaned down and lifted her face up with his hand. He moved closer to her and kissed her.
Nearby, a tall angry shadow stared at the forbidden couple angrily. “Stupid jerk!” it hissed. The shadow retreated to a tree and sat down. It was the man’s fiancée. A small tear fell over her lips as she began to cry in agony. She had been with this man for 13 years, ever since 7th grade. They had met in this very same park long time ago. It was when she had climbed a tree and fell down. He had been her rescuer and angel but now, he was her reason for pain. “I hate you” she said softly into the air. The woman pulled out a shiny object that she had been concealing. It was a gun. She turned around and pointed it at the couple. “If I can’t be happy then no one can!” she said loudly.
The couple turned around in surprise to see the woman holding a gun. “Dusky! What are you doing here?” cried the man out helplessly. “I followed you” said the woman tearfully. She wiped off the tears with her sleeves and smiled weakly. “Told you she was crazy” said the woman beside the man. “Dusky put that down please” the man pleaded. He started to approach Dusky and held out his hand. Dusky moved away slowly and fired. The man cried out in pain and fell to the floor. The other woman ran to his side and glared at Dusky angrily “you bitch, you killed him!” The gun fired again and shot the woman in the throat. The woman’s neck exploded as the bullet pierced through the tender white meat. Ducky grinned in pleasure and dropped the gun. The gun fired again and hit Dusky in the leg. She cried out and said “shit!”
She limped over to a car and sat inside. Dusky examined the wound and said “a small price to pay” She started the car and began to drive calmly. The park disappeared in the rear view mirror as she sped along the lonely streets. “Dammit Nathan, you would’ve made a handsome husband” she said under her breath. Large hills came into view over a serene sunrise. She smiled as the sun kissed her face. A large black dog suddenly appeared on the path. Dusky screamed as she swerved to miss the dog. The car fell off the road and plummeted towards a black pit. A spine chilling scream invaded the air, followed by a low deep crash in the pit.
