Tears fell from my eyes and slowly traveled down my face. A few teardrops dripped from the tip of my nose and down onto the floor making dark spot against the light wood flooring. Something about tonight made it hard to keep control and that hurt me, pained me. It brought back too many memories and emotions.

“Hey” the man whispered coming to kneel beside the couch, near my face. “It’s alright” he said and more tears fell, this time in a steady rhythm. “Why is this happening to me” I said in between sobs. “Because me and you are different” he said running his fingers along my arm trying to comfort me. “I hate this” I said and he nodded his head, still rubbing my arm. “Course, you do, it effects you more deeply then me because you have more soul” he said softly and I continued to cry. “So I’m crying cause it’s apart of this New Moon” I asked letting out a sigh and a sob. “Yes” he whispered and I felt him wipe my face.

He spent the rest of the night rubbing my arm and by my side. Even when I drifted to sleep I could feel him beside me. I swore it was all a big dream, especially this man’s kindness but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I felt a soft light shine through the window and it drape across my body, bring warmth. I opened my eyes slowly and then looked around, blinking. I yawned widely and then glanced for the source of the breeze on my arm. I saw the man with his head on the couch, apparently resting next to me and his breath was blowing across my arm. He was sound asleep and his body was in odd position, considering most of him was on the floor.

I yawned again and slowly slipped off of the couch. Avoiding him and collecting my jacket near the door. I found my gun placed just inside and I glanced back at the man. He was still sound asleep and I felt an odd sense of regret, leaving him like this. I slowly walked over to him and helped the still sleeping man, up onto the couch covering him up with a blanket. He smiled softly and I kissed his forehead once.

I walked slowly to his fridge and looked inside. He had a whole 12 pack of beer and laughed softy. I reached in and slowly pulled the pack out. I walked over to the sink and slowly started pouring the cans out. Leaving them in the sink, making sure all of the beer drained out. I laughed softly again and then threw the empty box away. I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote a small note, placing it on top of the empty cans.

The note said…..”beer is bad for you, I saved you”

“So the game begins again” I said softly walking toward the door. “Before another second clicks away, one of us will die” I sang softly and unlocked the door.

I glanced out into the hallway but didn’t see anyone. I stepped outside of the door and slowly shut it behind me. The door was covered in scratches and marks. I hid my surprise and slowly walked down the stairs. I walked out of the apartment, forever holding the place and number of his room in my mind. I smiled widely as the sun appeared over the buildings, casting a hot light everywhere.

I felt renewed and my vision I knew was back. I watched the people slowly walk past me and head toward work. I was getting tired of all of these people and I heard a train in the distance.

“Perfect” I whispered softly and started walking down the street, when I heard several yells coming from the guy‘s apartment. He clearly had found the empty cans of beer!

“Or will we start this game over again” I sang softly humming the rest out as I walked down the street.
