When I got out of the shower, I found someone had unlocked the bathroom door and had placed some clothing on the floor. I smiled widely and climbed out. Drying off and changing into a black tang-top. It had a picture of a snake in the middle and I traced it with my eyes in the mirror. I had the choice between nice fitting black jeans with silver beads along the legs and black snake shorts. I changed into the snake shorts and slipped my shoes back one.

I walked into the bedroom and looked around. I glanced at the bed and noticed the Nathair was sound asleep with the TV screen illuminating his face. He seemed to be sleeping peacefully and I smiled widely. It was nice for once, not too to have to try and shoot him. I looked at my old clothes and the 2 guns placed on top. I wondered what the Gerbil would do if he found out about them, I laughed softly at the thought.

I turned 1 of the lights off and slipped softly into the left side of the bed. He didn’t even move, curled up tightly on his side of the bed. I grabbed the remote close by him and flipped through the channels. I didn’t think I would find anything but a interest scene caught my attention.

It was channel 34 news and I instantly was sitting up, staring. Images where begin flashed across the screen, horrible pictures of creatures I had no clue where they come from. They were ripping through towns and slowly hitting the city. The women on the screen, reporting looked like she was about to puke at the images she was seeing. She explained they probably were looking for something and people should be weary not to go out at night. They had black bodies with blood red eyes. Panic covered her face, as more horrifying images trailed across the screen.

It paused on a horrible video of the creatures feeding on this one women’s body. They glanced at the camera and snarled. Their teeth were humongous and stuck several inches out of their mouths. Like saber-tooth but in a smaller body. I didn’t know how they came too be or if I was imagining.

I looked down at Nathair meaning to wake him up but he was already watching. His face was expressionless but he glanced up at me. The white of his eyes bright and much more prominent. We both turned our attention to the video that kept playing back and forth. Like someone was trying to make sense of it all.

“What are those” I whispered, my voice shaky. “Blood Thieves” his voice was barely above a whisper but I heard anyways. “What are they doing” I knew I didn’t have to explain what I was asking. “Searching” his voice made my stomach turn hollow. “Searching for what” and I glanced down at his solemn face. “For him” my frantic mind thinking this over. “Who is him“ I was afraid of the answer. “His name, is Sam and he’s a lot like us” I couldn’t hide my surprise.

“Sam, was born in a farm in New England. At first the nurses thought he born dead but then a few minutes later his heart started beating. From the beginning of birth, Sam could see like we do when we want too. He can only see that way and has never seen any different. The Blood Thieves want him because to drink from the kid’s blood would mean instant immortality. Instant power and control. However they do not know where Sam is or for that matter what he looks like. So they basically are hunting blind. Exposing themselves like this, means they are growing desperate” Nathair said his story would be forever locked in my mind.

“Where are they” I whispered and a few rays of hope appeared in his eyes. “Mexico” Nathair whispered and I nodded my head. “Where is the kid“ I asked and he thought a moment. “I always though him to be in New England still“ Nathair said softly and I nodded.

“We have to help that kid” I whispered, climbing off the bed. “What do you mean, are you crazy” he was begin irrational now and standing also. “Stop begin a selfish twerp, we have to save this kid” I whispered and he was instantly after his gun.

He held it tightly against my head before I even got my next breath out. This was way too close to ending now.
