“What do you think you’ll honestly gain by all of this” I heard the whisper echo all around me. “The same thing as you” I replied back searching the roof top and I heard a soft click. “I don’t think so, considering I have been playing this game for many years” he said and more shadows dance along the alleyway as he moved in front of the moon. “I don’t think you intend to compare age to me” I said laughed a humorless laugh, making a clicking noise as well.
“You don’t want this to end here, do you” his voice sounded lighter and my muscles tightened even more. “Course not but we all know what your status is” I said growling softly still looking around for him. “What is that” he said and it sounded like he had stopped moving. “A lazy, arrogant man who shall see an ending” I was cut off by a loud bang.
I stepped to the side quickly, my dirty blonde hair dancing in the wind and I could feel the heat flowing off as the bullet brushed past me. It missed me and buried itself in the blacktop. I smiled triumphantly as the shelling hit the ground below the building he was standing on, in a metal clang that echoed through the alleyway.
I raised my gun and in returned fired. The bullet nearly grazed the top of his head, as face appeared just above the roof ledge. He quickly ducked and felt the top of his head, just to make sure. I smiled widely and then took off running down the alleyway, becoming lost in the shadows. I stopped a moment and put my gun away, hiding it underneath my black jacket.
I ducked through a small hole in the wall, that was supposedly suppose to make it a dead end. I walked a bit down another dark alley and came stepped out into a busy sidewalk. It filled with people, flashing neon signs and honking cars. They all were chatting and talking, voices echoed all around me. Giving my mind no time to think and I already felt a headache coming on. I pushed past them and crossed the street.
I walked down the sidewalk and finally the sound of the city faded. I allowed my mind time to think and I had to admit, my thoughts were much more challenging to unwind since this morning. I let out a breath of stressed air and looked up at the moon. It was covered with dark clouds but no matter how hard they tried, the moon was still shining through.
