“Honestly, these people know nothing about manners” Nathair said aggressively beside me as we walked down the sidewalk. “Nathair, you were demanding not begin very polite either” I countered and he kept quiet. “It’s alright, it’s frustrating I know” I whispered, giving him a reassuring smile feeling a slight respect flow between us.

Adorn in new clothing and me a new bandage, we set off. The morning was cold and mist clung to each pond we passed. It smelt really good and clean outside, unlike near the city. We slowly watched people wake and get ready for work. I never had a job because I was never still for long. A life like mine wasn’t meant to be called easy.

After asking 4 people if a Sam lived in town and they all said no, we moved on. I knew we were much closer now because 100 miles rested behind us. I was hopeful and Nathair was doubtful. Over all it was a perfect relationship, minus the relationship part.

“What kind of name is that” I said as we walked past a little sign that indicated the town up ahead. “Calvanisky, is a perfectly fine name and stop complaining” I seemed to be doing that quite a bit, I could tell in his voice it was getting to him. “Maybe he’s in this town” Nathair glared at me to be quite and for once I obeyed.

The dirt road was white and mixed with sand. At the entrance it had a huge American Flag and beautiful well groomed flowers. A single church stood at the head of the long row of houses. The buildings were beautiful and well looked after. I was sure this town was extremely old but it looked better, then the other ones we had stayed at. Nathair seemed to brighten a bit and we headed for the grocery store.

We entered with some weird looks but otherwise, we slowly made our way to the cashier. She was taking a sip from her Styrofoam cup, that I was certain was coffee. Instantly I switched my eyes and was surveying the place. The nearest human to us, was several feet and I knew we were safe, from eavesdroppers. The women glanced up at us and seemed suspicious. Her grey hair back in a loose bun and her topaz colored eyes, alert.

“I have a question, I was looking for someone and I was wondering if you could help” Nathair said his soft voice instantly making the lady relax. “Who are you looking for, Dear” I felt a chuckle form in my throat but I kept it silent. “I’m looking for a Sam” I slowly watched her eyes widen a bit in surprise. “The Sam, our Sam” I sure hoped we were talking about the same kid. “What kind of trouble has he caused” she seemed exasperated and I became worried. “Trouble, none we just want to talk to him” Nathair reassured her and yet again she relaxed. “Oh, well then you need to go straight 4 miles down this road and the first building on your right, is where you’ll find him” my heart was racing at the mention of how close he was. “Thank you” we both said quickly and headed down the white gravel road.

We walked and walked, 4 miles was difficult. Our hearts pounding on our chest and every step was amazing. We were so close possibly to finding Sam. It was like we were begin reunited with an old friend or someone we hadn’t seen in so long.

Suddenly we skidded in front of a large building that was 4 miles from the store. The dark colored, 4 story building kind of put us off. We were really unsure if we had come to the right place or not. We saw a plaque hanging on the building in a slanted way and our eyes widened in horror at the words we saw.
