WARNING: coarse language and strong sexual content

Min Monroe wanted nothing more than a normal life and what did she get instead? Wings. Big, beautiful Faery wings she can't get rid of. But when things get complicated at her new private Faery school, she has to keep her head up, her wings high, and deal with it. At least, until love gets in the way.

Oh and some credit needs to go out here to my friend Ophelia Autumn for helping me come up with some of the names of the characters and all that :)

Chapter 19

I stood there in complete shock and horror to what I had just witnessed. The sight of that dagger entering Misty's chest replayed itslf over and over in my head. I heard people moving around me but I felt frozen to my spot.

"She's in shock. Sit her down and get a blanket around her." Someone said. Someone else grabbed me by the arm and sat me down on Annabelles bed, facing away from the scene that had just happened. I felt something soft fall around my shoulders.

"She's freezing cold." a different voice said.

"I know." the first voice said. "Just speak calmly to her and don't let her look over here."

"Min? Min can you hear me hon?" the second voice asked, then something warm touched my face. "She's not responding. Do you think she knows what's happening?"

"She's most likely aware of everything she's just in shock and can't respond. Keep speaking slowly and calmly to her, she'll come around."

My eyes shot around the room like bullets before finally landing on the figure before me. It wasn't Ryker, his hair wasn't long enough, but it wasn't Laurren either. His eyes weren't blue. I opened my mouth and croaked slightly. "Erik."

"Hey babycakes. You okay?"

I glanced at him then turned silightly and looked to the scene behind me. Ryker and Laurren stood over Misty and Jayk and were about to pull a blanket over then. I looked away quickly, unable to breathe. Tears streamed down my cheeks as the full force of what had happened came back to me at high speed. It was like a slap to the face. I pulled my knees up to my chest and started sobbing, my brain seemed to stop working for a moment.

A hand landed on my shoulder but I shrugged it off. "Don't touch me." I threw the blanket off and ran out of the room, down the hall and to the window at the end of it. I sobbed and placed my head to the cool glass. It felt good but not good enough.

"Min... I know you're hurt but you need to talk to me."

I growled at Rykers voice and turned to glare at him. "You don't get it Ryker! Misty was the only girl friend I had! Annabelle hates me, my good friends hate me, Misty was it! Now she's gone! You don't fucking get it!" I turned away from him and stared out the window through my tears.

"I don't get it, do I? Tell me this Min, how many people have you lost in your life besides Misty and Jayk?"

I refused to answer.

"That's what I thought. I lost my whole family. My parents, my brothers and more of my friends than I even want to think about counting. So, I'm sorry if I don't 'get it' but I think I kind of do."

The guilt set in my stomach. How could I be so stupid, he was right. He had lost everything and I had lost almost nothing. I still had my parents. I still had friends who loved me. I'd never had siblings so no loss there. Oh God I was a bitch. I turned back to Ryker and saw he was on the verge of tears. "I'm sorry... I shouldn't... I shouldn't have..."

"Don't, Min. Just don't."

I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around him. "I'm sorry Ryker." I sobbed into his chest. "I'm just so upset and not thinking."

I took a minute but Ryker wrapped his arms around me and stroked my hair. "Want to see something?"

I looked up at him and nodded. He reached into his back pocket adn pulled out a small black and white photograph of a man a woman and three boys. Two of the boys were standing behind the mand and woman with their hands on their shoulders and he third boy stood off to the side with a frown on his face. Suddenly it clicked who they were. "These are you, your brothers and your parents, aren't they?"

Ryker nodded. "The tallest boy is Jason and the other one is Derrek. The one off to the side is... well you can probably guess."

"You guys look like a nice familly."

"If only we acted that way."

"What do you mean?"

Ryker wighed and wrapped his arms around me. "I'll tell you about it later, okay? Right now we need to get things worked out for Misty and Jayk."

I nodded in agreement and we went back to the room. Laurren was on the phone and the twins stood in a corner talking with tears in their eyes. I walked over to the bed and kissed Jayk's temple then played with a peice of Misty's hair. "Goodbye you guys." I whispered.

As I started away I heard something like... a breath. Jayk's breath. I looked over at him and sat his chest rise then fall and his eyes opened. "Jayk?"

He looked at me then down at Misty on his chest. "Misty?" He shook her gnetly and wehn she didn't wake he hook her harder. "Misty!"

"Oh my God..." I heard Laurren gasp. "This is impossible."

"Misty!" Jayk continued to shake her but she didn't wake. Then he noticed the dagger in her chest. Tears streamed down his cheeks and he touched her cold face. "Misty..."

"She... She's dead Jayk." I told him. He craddled Misty to his chest. "How are you alive?"

He looked at me with a confused look on his face. "What do you mean?"

"I mean you died. You shouldn't be awake or breathing."

"What are you talking about?"

"He's good again." Laurren said coming over to the bed.

Ryker came over and stood beside me and the twins followed. "What do you mean Laurren?"

"He's good again. This hasn't happened in thousands of years... I was there to see the last one before they stopped. The man became extremely ill, like Jayk did, and died then came back less than an hour later. It was incredible but it stopped soon after. This is how I lost Marie."

I gaped at him in shock. Marie was dead? I thought Laurrens beloved wife had still been living... "How?"

"It was my fault really..." tears filled his eyes but he blinked them away. "Since I had seen the man change I thought I knew what to look for with the change. When Mrie became extremely ill I was happy. I thought she was becoming good again. But it turn out she wasn't. She died a few days after the illness took the best of her and I waited her to wake up. An hour turned into a day which turned into a week. I waited two weeks..." Tears spillled down his face. "She never cam back."

Jayk was sobbing now, rocking Misty back and forth. "But you didn't kill yourself at her loss. Why didn't you stop Misty?"

"Because I had no way of knowing. Neither did she. As I said, you're the first case in thousands of years."

Jayk just shook his head and kissed Misty. "So she can't come back? Ever?"

Laurren shook his head. "The death has to be natural or the Dark Sider won't come back at all. Trust me, I thought about killing myself after Marie's death but I knew she wouldn't want that of me. She would be so disapointed if I killed myself for her. I knew I had to live for her, keep her alive in my heart."

Ryker spoke up. "So, if any of us become sick or aomething, we shouldn't panic?"

"I wouldn't. Now that Jayk's changed I'm thinking maybe it's coming back. Maybe the face of Dark Siders is changing." With a meaningfull look at me, Laurren finished. "Forever."
