A couple days later, we held a funeral for Misty. We'd taken her to the nurse the night she died and she stitched up the wound in her chest. Laurren made arrangements with Ms. White for the funeral and the place we were to bury Misty. It was held outside in the cemetary just down the street from the school. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the birds singing. Misty would have loved it.
It was open casket so we could all say our last good byes to her. We each held a single yellow rose and when it was our turn we went up to the casket and laid our rose in with her. Yellow had been her favorite color and roses were her favorite flower so we figure we should burry her with something she would have loved.
If not for the funeral and her headstone.

Beloved daughter and friend
I stood by Jayk holding his hand as the ceremony went on. He had tears streaming down his face and when it was his turn to go up, he laid the rose down under Misty's hands on her chest then kissed her lips. I heard him whisper his love to her and then he came back to me. He was so heartbroken about this and we all knew we had to keep our eyes on him for a while so he didn't do anything to himself. Once we had all laid our roses in roses in the casket the preacbher said his final words and started to close the top.
"I suppose I don't get a good bye." A voice behind us called. I looked back and saw Annabelle standing there in a long black dress with her hair in an elegant bun. I swear I saw tears in her eyes. "After all, she was my roommate and best friend."
Ryker walked over to her and placed his hand on her arm. "Of course you can Annabelle." He placed his hand on her back and led her up to the casket where she placed her rose by Misty's head and said her goodbyes. She finished and the top closed.
Jayk started sobbing and I wrapped my arms around him. He cried into my shoulder, letting all his pent up feelings go. I couldn't help but spill a few tears of my own. We headed back to the school where we all went our seperate ways. The twins took Jayk to try and take his mind off the day, Annabelle disapeared somewhere, Laurren and Zachery headed back to the guest housing, Ms. White went back to her office and Ryker took me to our room.
I was too depressed to really do much to I just took a shower and crawled naked into bed. I noticed Ryker pacing around the room, figiting a little.
"Ryker what's wrong?"
"What's right, more like." He responded.
"I've never seen you so figity."
"Then you obviously didn't see me after I killed my father."
He came over to the bed and laid down beside me. "Yes?"
"You need to relax. Just sleep for a little while. It'll help you calm down."
"I really do-"
"Don't see the point in arguing because you know you'll loose? Good because I don't either."
He rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. Soon, he was out. I waited until I was sure he was sound asleep before quietly getting out of bed, getting dressed and sneaking out of the room. I ran across campus to the guest dorm and up to Laurren's room. I knocked and he pulled it open a second later.
"Min? What are you doing here?"
"I need to talk to you and it can't wait." I went in and sat down on the bed. He closed the door and sat by me.
I sighed and put my head in my hands. "Why me? It seems like ever since I got to this stupid school, every bad thing that could happen has."
"It hasn't all been bad. From what I've heard it's been more good than bad. Sure there have been bumps in the road but you can't let those get you down."
"Bumps?" I laughed. "Is that what you call my roommate kicking me out? Or my only girl friend dying? Or having a boyfriend who's so closed off to everything he won't even tell me his middle name? Those aren't bumps, they're mountains."
"What about becoming a Dark Sider? Or having sex with Ryker? Or having the joy of knowing Misty before she left us? Or finding out Rykers middle name. It's Joseph by the way."
I grinned at Laurrens attempt at humor but it didn't really help me much. "How do you know so much about him?"
"I've known him since he first started here as a freshman. I was his mentor."
He nodded. "Ryker is powerful. Almost too powerful. He needed a guide to help him, someone who knew what they were doing. Who better than me?"
"What do you mean by too powerful?"
"I think I should let him explain that to you himself."
"So now you're taking his side against me?"
Laurren shook his head quickly. "I'm not taking anyones sides. I just think he should tell you more about himself when he's good and ready."
I sighed and put my chin in my hands. "So, here's something odd for you. You said you're a Dark Sider and Marie was a Dark Sider, right?"
"And you founded this school and named it after your wife and yourself, correct?"
"You're very bright, Ms. Monroe."
I rolled my eyes. "So this school was founded by a Dark Sider and named after two Dark Siders, yet everyone is afraid of us?"
"Irony is a wonderful thing, wouldn't you agree?"
"But why? Don't they know about the schools history?"
Laurren sighed and got off the bed then started pacing across the room. "Sadly, no. We've tried to make a required class for the schools history but it keeps getting denied. I'm not sure why, maybe because Faeries are stubborn? I really shouldn't insult myself but it is true."
"What do you think would happen if they did find out?"
"We'd probably be shut down. Or this would be strictly a Dark Sider school and all the others would be transfered to a different school. It's a sad truth really."
"Just one more question, why do Dark Siders go good again? I thought once we changed, it was perminent. I mean, look at you, Zachery and Ryker. You've all been alive for how long?"
"We're very complex creatures, Dark Siders. It's what's in our hearts. The purer our hearts, the sooner we transform back. If we don't change back, we've had too many things in our lives which have caused us to be stuck. The one's who die are the ones who were never even meant to be Dark Siders. They were too pure." A single tear slid down his cheek but he wiped it away. "I never should have changed Marie. I just wanted her forever."
"Hm..." I thought about this for a minute then got off the bed. "Do you think Ryker will ever change back?"
"I've no answer for you, Ms. Monroe."
"Thank you Laurren. This really did help. and thanks for telling me Rykers middle name." I winked and walked to the door.
"You're welcome Min. And remember, you can always talk to me. And Ryker. Even Gill is willing to answer any questions you have. Don't be scared to ask them."
I smiled and headed out of the room then out of the dorm. I had one more person I wanted to see before it got dark and I had to go back to my room. I ran across the campus and prayed the whole way that she would be there. That just once something would work for me. I ran into the girls dorm and up to the third floor, down the hall and stopped at the door I needed. I knocked and hoped she would answer.
