WARNING: coarse language and strong sexual content

Min Monroe wanted nothing more than a normal life and what did she get instead? Wings. Big, beautiful Faery wings she can't get rid of. But when things get complicated at her new private Faery school, she has to keep her head up, her wings high, and deal with it. At least, until love gets in the way.

Oh and some credit needs to go out here to my friend Ophelia Autumn for helping me come up with some of the names of the characters and all that :)

Chapter 24

My head spun as I started coming back to reality. It felt like I was falling from a great distance back into my own body but once I got close enough, I slowed down and gently molded back into my body. My lungs filled with air making my chest rise and fall then slowly I opened my eyes. I had to blink a couple times before everything became clear but soon it all came into focus and I knew where I was instantly. Laying in Rykers bed covered by the silky sheets.

"Min you're alive." His whisper of joy filled my head as his arms wrapped around me. I tangled my fingers in his hair and breathed in his sweet scent.

"Of course I'm alive. I could never leave you Ryker."

He pulled back and smiled up at me then pulled me in for a kiss. Our lips crashed together so fiercely, so needy of each other. I smiled under his lips and let my hands fall down his body, carressing him to assure him I was really here.

"See Ryker, I told you she'd be fine." Jayk said, coming to sit on the bed by me.

"Go back to your game kid."

Jayk snorted. "I'm already loosing to the twins, might as well quit while I still have a shread of dignity."

I looked around Ryker and found the twins sitting on the edge of the bed playing what looked like Mario Kart. "You let them into your room?" I asked, looking back at Ryker.

He nodded. "I was worried about you when you didn't come back so they came up to check on me then they got distracted by the shiny gaming systems and wanted to play." He shrugged. "It was easier to just let them than to fight them."

I guess that made a small amount of sense. "Wait, how long was I gone?"

"About a day and a half."

"Huh. It only felt like a couple hours. Is that normal to stay gone that long?"

Ryker shook his head. "Maybe for those of us who have been around longer but not for you younger ones. Like with Jayk, he was only out a few hours. And the twins were out for about eight hours..."

"When did the twins change?"

"While you were out."

"So now you're the only one left?"

"Possibly. I don't know if Annabelle has changed yet or not." He looked over at the twins and Jayk. "Where is Annabelle anyway?"

"Fuck yes!" Erik jumped up and started doing a happy dance, shaking his butt in his brothers face. "Ha! I won! Little fucker, thought you could beat me at my own game."

Matt rolled his eyes and put his controller down. "Get that thing out of my face." He said, shoving Erik away. "And I have no idea where Annabelle is. Havn't seen her since the funeral."

Something clicked in my brain when Matt said funeral. I remembered Misty and... "I saw Misty."

they each looked at me like I was crazy except Jayk who actually looked a little hopefull. "What do you mean you saw Misty? She's dead." Ryker reminded me.

"No, I mean, when I died I saw her. It was so weird, like I wasn't dead but I wasn't alive either. Some sort of middle ground or something. I landed in this forest type place and was wondering around then I ran into Misty. We talked for a little while then I woke up."

"What did she say?" Jayk asked, a small peice of hope still in his eyes.

I gave him a small smile. "She asked about you. Wanted to know why she hadn't seen you in the land of the walking dead yet. I told her you were alive and she got really confused." my face fell as I remembered the look on Misty's face after I explained to her about the change and how Jayk was good again adn perfectly healthy. And the depression that settled in on her face when I was taken away from her and she was loosing her last bit of hope.

"What did she say, after you explained to her about the change?"

I looked back at Jayk, trying not to cry. "Not much really. She held up pretty well though I'm not sure what she did after I left."

"Oh." Jayk wiped at his eyes and looked down. "I hope she's okay."

I couldn't stand seeing him like this. I scooted closer to him and pulled him into a hug, kissing his hair. "I'm sure she's just perfect Jayk. She did tell me that she wanted you to remember her how she was and not dwel on her. It's not healthy for you."

A small laugh bubbled in his throat. "Yeah that sounds like Misty." he pulled away from me and kissed my cheek. "Thank you Min. It's good to have you back."

Rykers arm came back around me and he pulled me close. "Can we have some time alone guys?"

Jayk nodded. "Come on twins."

"Don't call us that. It's bad enough we look identical, we don't want to be told too." Erik said, getting to his feet. "Welcome back Min." he walked out with Jayk.

"What he said." Matt grinned and walked out, closing the door behind him.

I turned over in Rykers arms and smiled at him. "I missed you."

"I missed you too. Just be glad you weren't on this side, waiting."

"I will be soon."

His face turned hard and he looked away. "I wouldn't be so sure of that."

"Ryker, it will happen. Have faith."

He just shook his head. "I have as much chance of becoming good again as you do of getting pregnant from me."

I crossed my arms over my chest. Did he always have to be this fucking difficult? Could he not, for once in his life, have a little faith in himself? There had to be some way to get him to see the future I saw for him. For me. For us. Some way to get him to believe in life again and believe that someone out there really didn't want him to suffer anymore.

If I could just break through that wall, I'd get somewhere. I just knew it.

"Min? There's somewhere I want to take you."

"Where?"

"Just hold onto me and don't let go until I say so."
