WARNING: coarse language and strong sexual content

Min Monroe wanted nothing more than a normal life and what did she get instead? Wings. Big, beautiful Faery wings she can't get rid of. But when things get complicated at her new private Faery school, she has to keep her head up, her wings high, and deal with it. At least, until love gets in the way.

Oh and some credit needs to go out here to my friend Ophelia Autumn for helping me come up with some of the names of the characters and all that :)

Chapter 6

I shot upright in my bed, my breathing coming in heavy gasps. What was that? I looked around and realized I was still in my room, still in my boring pj's. My forehead was damp with sweat and my heart was pounding in my chest. How had I gotten back here? I was just in the forest with Ryker...

Wait...

I was just in the forest with Ryker having sex. It had been a dream. Of course. But why could I dream of something like that? I'd never had sex. I was fifteen. I didn't even know what sex was until I was thirteen - yes I'm aware that's sad, get over it. So why had I dreamt of it? And with Ryker! i pulled my knees up to my chest and contemplated this. He had to be playing mind tricks on me. He was all powerful, he could have the ability to dream walk or whatever.

But then why would he do it to me?

I put my hands on my head and tried to comprehend this. "Min?" Beylie's voice echoed through my mind. "Min are you all right?"

I looked up and saw Beylie standing over my with a worried look on her face. I felt pain in my skull and realized I had two big clumps off my hair in my hands and was tugging hard enough to pull it out. I released it and took a deep breath. What was happening to me?

"I'm fin Beylie. You can have the bathroom first."

"I showered last night remember?" I still heard that worry in her tone. "You sure you're okay Min?"

"I'm fine. I just need to get some food. I'm hungry."

I could see in her eyes that Beylie didn't believe that but she didn't have any other evidence to hold against me of anything else so she went with what I was saying. "All right well, get ready and we'll go get breakfast."

Down in the dining hall I sat with my friends and picked at a plate of eggs and bacon. I watched the Dark Sider table waiting for Ryker to show up. I really had to talk to him about that dream and exactly how much power he held. I needed to know if I was really doing crazy or not. Ryker never showed up for breakfast though which meant I would have to wait until Wingology.

"I'm going to head to class." I told my friends and stood up.

"Min you've barely touched your breakfast." Nix reminded me.

"I'm really not all that hungry."

"Okay but class doesn't start for another twentie minutes." Sommer chimed in.

"So I can't get there early?" I picked up my bag and walked out of the dining hall. I wallked across the campus, thinking about everything that was running through my brain. Everything that stayed in my brain until the end of the day. I sat in Wingology trying to focus on the warm up until Ryker came in and I could talk to him get some of this crap off my chest.

He came in right after the bell ran gand took his seat then Mr. Jones immediately went up to the front and started talking. I sighed. At this rate I wouldn't get to talk to Ryker at all.

"I want everyone to get a partner," Mr. Jones said. "and turn to page seventy-eight in your books. Read it and discuss the importance of it with your partner. We'll talk about it as a class in fifteen minutes or so." he went back to his desk and everyone started moving around. Everyone but Ryker and I.

"So I guess it's us." Ryker said.

"Can you dream walk?" I blurted out. I glanced up to check Ryker's expression. He was looking at his book, deciding how to answer.

"Yes but I rarely use that particular... gift."

"Did you by any chance use it last night?"

He shook his head. "No. I was out all night." He looked over at me. "Speaking of, I broke up with Annabelle. Thought you might like to know that."

I blushed. "Why would I care about that?"

"The same reason you told me to break up with her in the first place. You like me."

My blush grew even darker and hotter. "You're insane."

"That's what you told Beylie, too, when she said you were a Faery. Guess some people aren't as insane as they seem."

How did he know about that? The only people that knew about that were Beylie, my parents, and Ms. White. Ryker Daae was one scary man.

Mr. Jones got up and went back up to the front of the room. "Hey guys, take a break for a minute. Min? Can you come up here for a minute?"

I glanced up at him and my face instantly paled. What now? I got up and went up to the front to stand by Mr. Jones. "Yes?"

"Turn so your back is to me."

I did. He placed his hands on my back then spoke to the class. "Since Min is new here and has never used her wings I just want to see what shape they're in." then he lowered his voice and spoke only to me. "You may feel slight pain."

His hands slowly moved away from my back and were replaced by pain. Excrusiating pain. It bounced up and down my back making me squeeze my eyes shut and bite my lip to keep from screaming. Slight pain my ass. This fucking hurt.

I heard a gasp come from the class. What the heck? I glanced over my shoulder and found what they were gasping at. My wings were nothing like they were in my dream last night. They were clear but they didn't sparkle nor did they hold themselves upright. They were completely wrinkled and broken looking like someone had kicked them around a soccor field. Mr. Jones had one hand under each wing to hold them up.

"It's worse than I thought... Can you move them at all?" He asked. I tried but nothing happened. Just pain. "Okay stay here for a second." Mr. Jones walked back to his desk and dug around in a couple drawers. While his hands were gone my wings sunk down, unable to keep themselves up. He came back with a jar of that silver mist stuff I saw Beylie using on my first day here.

"What is that?"

"Faey dust. For your wings. It will help them stand up on their own and allow you to fly. But no flying for a while. First your wings have to heal." he took a handfull of the dust and sprinkled it on my wings equally. Slowly I felt them rise up and dewrinkle a little. I looked over my shoulder and sure enough they looked about ten times better.

"Here." Mr. Jones handed me the jar. "Sprinkle some of this on your wings everynight until they get completely healed. And leave them out tonight. You'll have to sleep on your stomach but it will help them get used to being away from your body and being alive. And also try exercising the by fluttering them and just moving them around a bit. Sound good?"

I nodded and went back to my seat. Ryker gave me a half smile as I took my seat. "Don't worry." He whispered. "They'll get better in a couple weeks.

I sighed. At least one thing would get better soon.

After class I pulled Ryker outside so I could talk to him more. "Look, are you sure you didn't accidently use your dream walking powers last night?"

"Min, dream walker powers aren't powers you can just slip into. You have to work at it to get into someone's dream and that was the last thing on my mind last night. I told you, I was out all night." He paused and looked down at me. "Out of curiosity, why?"

"I just... I had this dream last night and I just wanted some answers."

"What was the dream?"

I blushed again. My embarressment level skyrocketed. "Well, it had you... and me. And... Well that's it really."

His eyebrows shot up. "Then why are you stressing? That doesn't sound horrible."

"Taht's the point. It wasn't horrible. It was absolutely fantastic. And that's what I'm worried about." I paused and took a deep breath. "Ryker, how does one become a Dark Sider and can it happen in a dream?"

He hesitated which only made me more nervous. "To answer your second question, no. As for your first, this really isn't a good place to talk about it. But meet me tonight at midnight. Out at the gardens. I'll be there with the other Dark Siders and we'll talk, okay?" and just like that, he was gone.
