Chapter 5
Sacheverell woke with a cry caught in his throat. His creased forehead was shiny with little beads of sweat. For a moment he forgot where he was. He looked around and saw he was in his large
office.
Oh Milne! his broken heart cried. She was so sick. He almost never went to their stuffy old cottage anymore. His mother took care of Milne. Her illness was taking more of her mind than her body. She still walked around but her mind was somewhere else. She hardly knew him anymore. Looked at him like shes never met him before.
It broke his heart. How can the woman you've been married to for 23 years not know your face anymore?
Sacheverell got up and decided to check in with Eachann. Poor boy is so tense lately. Ever since that Elf came here. Or rather dropped here. He'd better make sure Eachann doesn't have a heart attack before the age of 30.
As Sacheverell predicted, Eachann was standing in front of the Elf boy's room and he was rattling in his armor so much, he sounded like a big bag of coins.
Relief was written all over Eachann's face when he saw Sacheverell. Eachann had to restrain himself from running and hugging is comanding officer!
"Eachann, are you alright? You look pretty shaken up" Sacheverell laughed
"I'm fine, sir. Just worried about this boy. He has been saying all these things about his father and how he has been tricked."
"Yes, yes I know. Its been like this ever since we stopped giving him that concoction. I just wish he would come out of this daze he has been in and tell us something usefull. Like his name and where he comes from. Then we can help him."
"Do you think somebody forced him out of his country sir?"
"Probably. That elf woman who sent him hear did look kind of underhanded to me."
"You don't think he is some kind of criminal, do you?" Eachann couldn't get images of dwarf heads rolling around out of his mind.
"No Eachann, I don't. This boy is too...taken care of to be a criminal. With is long blond hair, clear eyes and his facial features, I wouldn't be surprised if he was royal."
"You think he is a prince?" Eachann couldn't picture a dwarf-killing prince. It just looked wrong.
"I don't know Eachann. I could be wrong. I could be so stumped about his identity that I may be imagining things. We'll just have to wait. Like every other day.
"sage..." The two men heard a faint cry from within the room
"Hurry, unlock the door!" Sacheverell ordered
Eachann unlocked the door and with trembling hands he pushed it open.
Before the men even knew what happened, Eachann was thrown against the opposite wall with a thud. The Elf pushed Sacheverell to the side and began to run. Screaming all the way.
"SAGE! SAGE!"
