CHAPTER 7
Saira walked to Vappu's room. She was summoned yet again by Vappu. Saira wondered what mood Vappu will be in. The last time she sent for her, her stepmother was extremely rude to her.
Saira entered Vappu's chambers with a cold hand gripping her heart.
Vappu was looking out the window and when she noticed Saira, she smiled. Saira relaxed a little.
"You sent for me?"
"Yes, yes I did little one. Now come here and sit on your mommy's lap." Vappu said while sitting down.
Saira walked to where Vappu was sitting and carefully climbed onto her lap. Vappu put her arms around the tiny elf.
"Now honey. You know what day it is today, don't you?"
"No, not really" the girl replied.
Trying to hide the irritation in her voice Vappu said "Today dear Saira, is the meeting with the elders."
The monthly meeting with the elders were very important. They would discuss all the kindom's future and new laws. Only blood related royal family members were allowed to participate, and Vappu wasn't blood related.
"Oh yes Vappu. Now I remember" and the little girl's eyes lit up. Everytime there was a meeting, Saira had to attend even thought she didn't understand most of it.
"And you know what to do, right honey" Vappu asked
"Yes I know"
"Now, here is your present" and with that Vappu gave Saira a tiny velvet pouch.
Saira carefully took the pouch and opened it.
"Oh Vappu! Its beautiful!" Saira held the pearl necklace in her delicate hands. Feeling kind of guilty, Saira looked up at Vappu and asked:
"Is Sage still not supposed to know about this? About me going to the meetings and writing everyting down? Why isn't she supposed to know that I tell you everyting they say?"
"Because its our little secret. And you know what will happen if you tell her don't you?"
"Then you aren't going to be my new mommy anymore" she peeped.
"Yes and we both know how much you want to have a mommy again right?"
"That's what I want the most in the whole wide world. A new mommy."
Vappu smiled to herself. Everything is going according to plan. Now all she must do is wait until the meeting is over and then contact Liskin. Liskin can't wait to sink his teeth into Ikriam. And Vappu couldn't wait to destroy it.
