That Night...
I woke up late; the moon was already illuminating my room. I got out of bed and rushed into the shower. When I left the bathroom I just pulled out the first thing my hand touched in the drawer, black mini skirt - not the ones that hug you, but fray out the sides. I reached into my closet for a blue tank top and a cropped black sweater.
I grabbed my bag and put my hair into a messy ponytail. I was down the stairs two seconds later. When I opened the front door and let out a startled scream. Chace was standing there in an 'about to knock' stance.
"Hey," he greeted. "I figured you were still here since you didn't show up."
I locked the front door and we began to walk.
"I could've just left you. I mean I didn't have to be here." I said.
"I didn't think you would've left me." He said with a cocky smile. Great.
"Well that's just because I told you I'd be there. It has nothing to do with the fact that you're Chace Ishlovik." I said, rolling my eyes.
"They all say that." he grinned.
"Well I'm not any of 'them' if you haven't already noticed."
"To tell you the truth, if it weren't for 'certain situations' I wouldn't have known. I mean you don't even have a scent." he said.
I looked down at my feet as we walked, thinking about how weird it all was.
"I'm not even sure what the hell all that's about." I sighed.
"There might be more to you than what most people see." Chace said.
"What, more than a weak, stupid human?" I laughed to myself.
"Please you kicked Zach's ass and you've proven to be quick at the mouth and witty. Those cross out weak and stupid, well except for the whole dating a lycan thing."
I rolled my eyes.
"There's nothing wrong with me having a lycan as a boyfriend." I said plainly.
A smile played at his lips.
"Vamps can make you feel better. They bring more excitement and pleasure into a relationship, if you know what I mean." he said suggestively.
Yea, I know what he meant... not by personal experience. I just knew that a vampire's bite was supposed to be pure ecstasy and bliss.
I cleared my throat then changed the subject.
"So what classes have you got today?" I asked.
Chace let out a small smile.
"Music, AP calc, and some other stuff..." he answered.
"What a coincidence." I said sarcastically. "I have music, AP calc, and some other stuff too."
"That's lucky." he said.
"Why?"
"Because you get to be in two classes with me."
"I think your head's gonna explode at the rate you're going." I joked.
We heard the bell ring in the distance, but neither one of us sped up.
Period 4: Music Class
The seating in music class was like carpeted bleachers or wide carpeted stairs. It took up the entire back wall of the half a football field sized room, and this was just one sector. Chace followed me up the steps and we sat in the third to last row at the top.
"So you do you play an instrument or sing or whatever?" he asked.
"I can kinda play the guitar and I can kinda sing." I replied.
"So you could become a kinda rock star." he joked.
I laughed and then abruptly stopped when I saw Lance giving this lycan chic a very close hug. I'm not usually the type to freak, but I usually felt uneasy when Lance had female friends who were lycans, bitches (ha get it). I mean if he got too friendly with a lycan girl, they could go places, continue a line, and they'd get more rights. His parents would be happy. Things would be easier for him that way, but I wasn't gonna stress.
I crossed my legs at the knees and observed my nails, pretending that I hadn't seen Lance, as he walked over. I saw Chace's attention shift my exposed legs, it was soon averted when Lance's hand went sliding up and down one of them. He was on the opposite side of me.
"Hey." he said, leaning over and giving me a peck on the lips. His hands were still on my legs, nothing inappropriate though, but something some other guy couldn't do. "Chace I think I see your buddy Zach over there."
"Yea and I know I see you're buddy Chuck over there." Chace retorted.
"Oh and what do you know! There's my buddy James!" I said funnily, getting up to escape the battle of testosterone.
I gave James a friendly hug.
"Gosh, why are you boys so damn territorial?" I asked annoyed.
"Well you are quite the prize." he said, assuming I was referring to myself as the territory, which I was.
"Yea whatever, come on." I said pulling him over to where we were sitting.
He sat right behind me and I took my place in between Chace and Lance. I leaned back on James' legs and he played with my ponytail. Lance looked upset, Chace was trying to act all cool, and I just didn't give a damn.
"Lance you should really stop being so angry all the time, it isn't good for your health and Chace if you keep on thinking you're the hottest thing on Earth you're eventually gonna catch fire and die." I said.
James chuckled behind me. Lance and Chace pretended to not hear me.
"Ray, there's this cool movie out." James said. "I think it's called Scarlet. It's about this-"
"Oh yea!" I exclaimed. "That movie looked awesome."
"We should watch it today after school." he suggested.
"Cool." I said, nodding.
"Cool?" Lance said with a disgusted look. "Yesterday on the phone you told me you were busy after school."
"Uh, yea, I was, uh, I was planning on watching the movie after school by myself, but James just offered, so, yea." I lied.
Thank God the teacher spoke so Lance couldn't respond.
"Good night students!" Ms. Butler boomed. She had the loudest voice I'd ever heard.
The class responded to her in unison.
"Today we will travel outside to hear nature's music." she announced. "We will be splitting up in the forest in groups of four. Each group will be equipped with a recorder. Make sure to record various sounds because next class your group will create a track using the sounds recorded tonight. Now choose your groups." Ms. Butler began to set up the tape recorders on a large table in the front of the classroom.
The entire female population turned to me with searing looks. I was in the middle of the three hottest guys in class. I don't what their deal was. I didn't choose my group members yet. Then I realized they had basically chosen me. James was still playing with my hair, Chace had his wrist hanging on my left shoulder, and Lance's hand was on my knee. When did all this happen?
I gave the girls fake apologetic looks.
