6th Period – Telepathy and Body Language
I traveled underground where my 6th period class was located - along with my combat class.
Lance wasn't in this class. He had it first period, but Claire was and so was - Chuck? He's not even a lycan. Then again, neither am I. Whatever, I won't ask and he probably won't tell.
Anyway, I still think the class might be okay. I mean I can't communicate telepathically like lycans can, but body language should be fun to learn.
I glanced at the tables and realized there was a list on sticky note at each of the two chairs per table.
1st – Angie
2nd – Loki
3rd – Matthew
4th – Celina
5th – Richard
6th – Rayne
Wow, was this assigned seating for each period? Oh no. Great. Chuck's name was on the sticky beside my seat. We're going to be at a two seat table in the back of this dim lit, dark classroom. It was like dungeon style in here. If only there were some weapons.
I looked to the front of the classroom where I saw Chuck scoffing at the name tags on the tables. I sat in my seat, a long legged wooden chair, and put my head on the table, my arms blocking out the little light there was.
"Hey sexy." an obnoxious voice said.
I lifted my head in disgust and watched Chuck ogle my exposed crossed legs.
"Hey asshole." I retorted.
He looked up at me in surprise, obviously not knowing who he was hitting on. He kissed his teeth and looked away in embarrassment. I found it kind of funny.
"I can't believe I gotta sit here with a piece of human garbage." he sneered.
"A sexy piece of human garbage." I corrected with a nod and smirk.
"I didn't mean that." he said, sitting down and not looking at me.
"I sure hope so, because I can't have you staring at my sexy legs all day." I teased.
His face flamed up and he ran his fingers through his messy short brown hair. Ha! I've found a button. Chuck thinks I'm sexy, as disturbing as that is. I mean I thought Chuck was one of the ugliest people ever, but the rest of the female population would disagree. It's just that when I dislike someone they can't really be attractive in my eyes. I guess it's not the same for guys, which is fortunate, because I was so gonna frig Chuck up with this new piece of information.
I smiled sexily at him.
"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone." I whispered then winked at him.
He shifted uncomfortably in his chair. This was gonna be fun.
"Hello class." Mr. Shepard greeted. "Now, can I have a raise of hands of those who can already communicate telepathically? Even if it's only with family or some close friends."
Everyone raised their hands except for Chuck and I.
"Well that's everyone with the exception of the two here who aren't lycans." Mr. Shepard said.
A few gossiping whispers could be heard here and there.
"Why are you here?" I whispered to Chuck, while Mr. Shepard continued to speak.
"Why's that any of your concern?" he snapped.
I rolled my eyes then began to listen to Mr. Shepard.
"We're going to practice recognizing body patterns. They will give away how someone is feeling 95% of the time." Mr. Shepard explained. "At the start of every class I will pinpoint each of your emotions just by reading your body language, including facial expressions."
5 minutes later...
Mr. Shepard got through a bunch of nervous seniors.
"Rayne." he said. "You have a bit of playfulness in your eyes, mischief almost. Your relaxed posture signifies that you are satisfied with whatever it is that you've done. This might explain Mr. Chuck Lucian's red face and stiff posture, indicating loss or embarrassment."
I smirked.
"Now class, one does not have to be a lycan to master reading body language, it's just much easier for a lycan to do it. This skill can be used in almost any situation because as this class progresses we will learn to predict actions one may take based on their body language alone. Those who are not lycans most likely will not be able to predict these things because lycans are already born with the natural extinct. Now if everyone will just open their books to page three. Read and take note of common signs of mood you can you find on a person."

.......
Crossing of arms: smugness, annoyance, discomfort
Biting lip: nervousness, anxiousness...
........
I looked at the diagrams that the book provided. Ok, things that a dog would realize.
Mr. Shepard was deep into his laptop. I noticed Claire and her friend chatting to each other. Claire's arms were crossed and her jaw was clenched.
According to this book she could be discomforted and in pain or annoyed and angry.
She turned her head to glare at me and was caught off guard, obviously not expecting me to be looking at her. I gave her a friendly smile that we both knew wasn't really friendly at all.
Chuck snickered, watching the whole thing.
"I'm surprised." he said to me.
"About what?" I asked.
"You're still with Lance right?"
"Yea."
"Well I just thought your actions would've been different with you knowing about Claire and all." he shrugged.
"What d'you mean?"
He let out a bored sigh.
"I've just lost interest in the matter." he said, taking out his cell phone.
I buried my head in my arms on the desk.
Sometime later...
*Ring*
I groaned as I lifted my head off of the desk. Yea 'fun' class.
...Lunch...
Dayna met me right outside the classroom door, her 'Spell Casting' class was right next to mine.
"Hey girlie." she greeted. "How're you feeling?"
"Fine. Your potion worked great." I said.
We talked all the way to the cafeteria. I noticed Lance had his bag on a space beside him, big enough for both Dayna and I.
"Hey babe." I said, giving him a quick kiss, then sitting down next to him.
Dayna sat next to me bringing 2 slices of pizza. She handed me mine on a plate.
Lance put his hand on my knee under the table. I took a deep breath. I wasn't supposed to know about Claire and I wasn't going to know unless he told –. Speak of the devil. Claire took a seat across from Lance.
"Hey Lance, Rayne, Dayna right?" she greeted.
"You two know each other?" Lance asked surprised.
"Yea, we're in telepathy class together." Claire answered with a smile.
Huh! So she wanted to play.
"Really, I don't remember you." I said.
"Well you seemed to be enthralled in that convo with Chuck about sexy stuff and whatnot." she said taking a bite of her salad.
"Excuse me?" Lance choked, hitting his chest so that his burger would go down.
Crap. A class full of lycans, anyone paying attention would've heard our conversation.
"Chuck Lance? No need to think any further into that." I bit into my pizza glaring at Claire, who happily took another bite of her salad.
"Yea." Lance said, brushing it off.
"So why's Chuck in that class anyway?" Claire asked Lance.
He shrugged.
"Well after school a few of us are going down by Blue Lake Park to race." Claire said.
"Like car racing?" Dayna asked.
"No Day," I answered. "They race in their lycan form."
"Oh." Dayna said wide eyed. "That would be fun to watch."
"Well I wouldn't let you go alone." I said.
"Why not?" Claire asked, already knowing the answer. Dayna probably already knew the answer.
Lance answered for me...
"Most people know that it's hard to control the natural and I guess you'd say 'human' side of things when you start using your lycan from. It's still kind of hard to control it even with experience; and sorry Claire I won't be able to make it after school today. I've got plans with Rayne.
"Oh you're coming to movies with us?" Dayna said.
"Oops, I forgot to tell you." I interjected. "I'm passing on the movie."
Dayna nodded, while sipping her coke. I was about to drink some of mine when someone put their hands on the back of my shoulders and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. I turned around to see James.
"Lance, tomorrow, 4 am, Limens vs. Moncks." James said. "My place."
"I'm there." Lance replied.
One second they're bitching at each other, the next they're making play-dates.
I smiled to myself.
Claire rolled her eyes.
