Instead of going back to my room I headed into the entertainment room. I sat on our suede couch and was about to take out the Xbox 360 controller when there was a knock at the door.
"Yea." I called.
Chace walked in.
"How'd you know I was in here?" I asked.
"Heard you." he said.
Vamps also have acute hearing, but they don't have the great range lycans have.
"Superman, huh." he smirked.
I looked down. My undergarments were visible through my white t-shirt.
"What do you want?" I said, smiling slightly.
"Just wanted to see what you were up to." He walked over to the couch and sat next to me.
"I was about to play some video games."
"Well, I'm sure we can think of something else to play." He moved in closer to me and I pushed him back.
"Do lines like those really work on girls?" I asked.
He looked at the TV with a smirk.
"Yea, they do actually." he responded.
"Well they don't work with me." I said.
"Well what does Lance say to get you in the shower?" he asked, annoyance pushing at his voice.
"I know Lance. He's my boyfriend." I defended. "All I know about you is that you've been with 4 different girls in the 2 days I've known you. Chace Ishlovik, I'm no idiot."
"Well then let's get to know each other." he said.
"Not if your only goal is to do me, because that's not gonna happen."
He let out a cocky smile, as if what I was saying was wrong. I rolled my eyes and pulled out the 360 controller.
"What are we playing?" he asked.
"We?" I said, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Yea we." he got up and grabbed the other controller from beside the flat screen.
"Need for Speed Carbon." I answered.
"Oh I am so gonna kick your ass."
"If you mean that'll be the only thing in kicking distance when I reach the finish line, then yea."
Chace laughed to himself as he picked his car.
"So one of the reasons against getting in shower with me are the four girls I've been with, but not that I'm 'dating' your sister?" he questioned.
"And I assume you haven't told her about them."
"Lauraine would hate to hear you refer to me as her sister." I said. "And she can go ahead and make her own bad choices."
"Ach, I'm hurt." Chace said in mock hurt. "I'm a bad choice?"
"Well you just picked a bad car." I said with a smile.
"Well you shouldn't be talking about picking bad boyfriends." he said.
I let out a sigh.
"Not this again." I said.
"You just seemed smarter than that." Chace shrugged.
I hit the NOZ on my car.
"There's nothing wrong with me dating a ly –."
"But there is something wrong with you dating a guy who's embarrassed to be seen with you." he interrupted
*Chace's POV*
She looked a little sad now. If I were her – boy – you know. I would care less about what she is, but she's right about me. I don't stick to one girl. She's aware of the type of guy I am, but that's not gonna stop me from trying.
"You crashed into a donut shop." she said.
She looked over to me and we locked eyes. It was different to me. The only woman's eyes I've ever looked into were my mother's, yet it was almost painful tear to mine away from Rayne's. She all of a sudden looked very sick. She dropped the controller and gripped her stomach.
"What's wrong?" I asked, trying to stop my voice from reaching high altitudes. What the hell was up with me?
"My stomach and my head..." She cringed.
She was about to topple off the couch, but I took hold of her shoulders. Sweat started to bead her face and I could feel her heart racing. I lifted her up wedding style and laid her in the tub, turning on the cold tap water. She was beginning to close her eyes.
"Rayne!" I said, trying to snap her out of it. I tapped her cheeks and she looked up at me dazed.
"Chace what's happening?" she asked short of breath.
"I don't know I just –."
"I'm gonna puke." she said.
"Shit." I pulled her up so she was leaning over the tub and put the bathroom garbage bin underneath her head.
I looked away as she emptied her stomach into the bin. I took one of the hand towels and wiped her mouth before she collapsed back into the tub.
"Crap." I said, getting into the tub, soaking the bottom of my jeans and pulling her up.
She was still searing hot and I don't think she was conscious anymore. I once again lifted her up, carrying her out of the shower. I carried her over to her bedroom door and kicked it open to wake Lance.
"Put some damn clothes on!" I yelled. "We've gotta get Rayne to the hospital!"
I ran downstairs with her, now both of us were soaked.
Lauraine open the door!" I yelled.
She jumped, realizing something serious was happening. If I didn't know any better I'd say she was a little scared for Rayne.
Lance came running down the stairs buckling his belt. He couldn't have thrown a shirt on?
"We can take my car?" he said.
I followed him out the front door.
Lance unlocked the car door and I put Rayne in the back. He slid in beside her, handing me the keys.
"You drive, she stays with me." he said.
I didn't bother to argue. I just got in the front and turned the car on. Lauraine hopped in the passengers' seat just before I drove off.
I revved the engine and gripped the wheel. Lauraine kept on looking at me and it was kinda pissing me off.
"What?" I snapped.
"I'm not sure why you even care so much?" she said almost in a whisper.
I wasn't sure either and it was making me bit freaked out. I mean I would've done the same thing for another person if it looked like they were near death in front of me, but for now I just stuck with...
"It's a bit nerve racking when an innocent person almost dies in front of you. Her heartbeat and temps were record breaking."
Lauraine laughed to herself.
"Bullshit." she said. "You've seen countless deaths I'm sure."
"Why the hell are you even here if you don't give a damn about her?" I barked.
"You've known her for two days Chace. How much could you possibly care?" she scoffed.
"Well based on my knowledge you threw away years of sisterhood just a few weeks ago over something that didn't even change Rayne as a person."
"Yea whatever." she said. "You're sure to get a fuck out of this one."
"Would you two shut the hell up?" Lance growled.
