It's been about 10 minutes now. I haven't said a word to Dayna. She's just been staring at me.

I slowly got out of bed, which brought a look of alarm to Dayna's face, but the look on mine must've kept her still.

"So Chace and James are at home?" I asked, pulling on my jeans that were lying on the foot of the bed. I looked around for a shirt and Dayna pulled one out of her bag.

"James is actually being questioned right now." she said. "I mean they could've released him already. As for Chace, Mr. Ishlovik requested that he stay with him."

Right after the words came out of her mouth I stormed out of the room. I could hear her following quickly behind me.

"Rayne they have to check you out an-"

"Dayna," I interrupted. "...just tell me where your car is when we get outside."

She nodded without another word.

...

We walked into the lobby and I could see the sliding doors leading to parking lot... then I saw Bryan. My sudden halt caused Dayna to crash into me.

"I'd like to know where Rayne Bolivantic is please." I overheard him ask the receptionist at the front desk.

I grabbed Dayna's arm and we ran right past him.

"Rayne what's wrong?" she asked, panting behind me. Man these witches need to get into shape.

"Nothing Day, I'll explain later. We just need to get into your car."

"I parked it across the street." she said as I dragged her thorough traffic to the vehicle.

"You move really fast." she said in shock as I started turned the key in the ignition.

Chace's House

I banged on the front door and Dayna looked down the street frantically.

"Rayne, come one let's go." she said, trying to pull me away from the door.

"I'm about to break it down in two seconds." I threatened.

"That's not necessary." Mrs. Ishlovik said a bit sternly, opening the front door.

"Hello Mrs. Ishlovick, I need to see your husband." I said impatiently.

"He's busy right now." she replied. "And so is my son. I'd respect if you distanced yourself from-"

I pushed past her.

"I don't have time for the stay away from my kid crap ok." I said walking into the living room, listening for voices.

I followed what I heard to a locked door located in the house's back hall.

"Mr. Ishlovik." I called through the door.

Chace opened the door immediately.

"Rayne you gotta go." he said quickly. "I'll be by later."

"No you will not." I heard Mr. Ishlovick say, pulling the door fully open.

"I want to talk to my parents." I said, immediately making eye contact.

He scoffed at me.

"I would hardly call them your parents." he said in his thick Russian accent.

"I want to speak with them now."

"What a little problem you have on your hands." He flared his nostrils at me and Chace stood there looking shocked.

Everyone's heart in this room was beating extremely fast and I was completely fine with that. I wanted this guy to be on edge.

"I'm gonna ask one more time before I tear this place apart." I said quite seriously.

"They won't speak to you." he said with a smirk.

I walked over to his desk yanking open one of his locked drawers, causing splinters to shoot out.

Now not much people know this, but old school vampires stuck to their books. Every piece of important information was written and recorded, pen to paper, which is why smashing the fancy laptop on his desk would've been useless.

I took out the huge book I was almost sure I would find in there. This was just one of many I'm sure, but I'm hoping this one had contacts and transactions; just a lot of stuff that would hurt if he lost it.

Mr. Ishlovik said something in Russian. It was loud, angry, and threatening.

"Rayne, put the book down." Chace said, stepping in front of his father.

"This book will go up in flames." I said, hoping I would actually be able to do that.

"With what fire?" Mr. Ishlovik asked.

*Chace's POV*

Rayne please don't say or do anything. My dad knows something's up. He know you're that there's more to you than just human... crap.

"Rayne, the book isn't flammable." I said, hoping she'd just let the question go... Hoping she'd just let the book go."

"Mr. Ishlovik, I don't break my promises." She said seriously. "This book will be diminished in a matter or seconds if you don't get my parents on a phone line right now."

*Rayne's POV*

My blood cooled as he walked over to the phone on the other side of the desk. I lowered the book in my hand, lessening my threatening stance.
"Thank yo-"

The phone cracked in Mr. Ishlovik's grip as he yanked it off his desk, ripping the phone jack clear out of the wall, cracking it.

"That's what I think of your threats!" he yelled. "You should be dead and trust me that will-" He abruptly stopped speaking as he stared at my now empty hand.

He whispered something in Russian. Chace replied. It was my first time hearing him speak it.

They both looked extremely shocked... and in all truth, I was too, but I wasn't gonna show it.

"I guess I'll find another way then." I said walking out of the room.

I could hear footsteps behind me, Chace's. He followed me out of his house and we started off down the street.

*Chace's POV*

"Rayne, what the hell was that?" I asked her in a hushed, slightly freaked out tone. She looked just as freaked out as me. Nice cover she kept in there.

"Chace, I don't know." she said, looking off into nowhere, as if for an explanation. "I just got extremely angry and startled when your dad tore that phone out of the wall. I don't know I just felt something and - I don't know."

"Did you feel anything on your hand?" I asked, wondering if she felt what I saw... whatever the hell it was that I saw.

"I don't remember, I just felt something move through me and you're dad was looking at my hand once it passed."

"Rayne, I was looking at your hand the whole time. The book just got sucked into nothing. It was there and then there was like this violet orb with what looked like electrical currents running through it. I don't even know. It happened in nearly the blink of an eye."

*Rayne's POV*

My head was exploding with questions, with energy, with chaos...

We got inside of my house and I headed straight to my room, Chace was traveling slowly behind me.

*Chace's POV*

How the hell was I supposed to think about anything with her smelling like she did? Her scent was literally sending shocks throughout my entire body, but I was gonna walk into that room and contain myself.

She was pulling on some red shorts when I walked in.

"One step at a time." she exhaled, sitting down on the edge of her bed.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean whatever just happened in there we'll save for later. Right now I just need to talk to my parents because they couldn't have been the ones to let Chuck off and make it seem as if you and James were the culprits."

Aw crap...

"Rayne, it was your parents." I said.

"What?"

"You're parents made that call. I don't know why. I just know that they did."

"Chace I don't have time for empty statements."

"I was there. Marques Bolivantic gave that order and Natalie was speaking with my father today."

She got up and began pacing back and forth.

"I'm really sorry." I said.

"Whatever, forget it." she said plopping down on her bed again.

Forget it?

*Rayne's POV*

Yea, this was so not forgotten, but I was getting nowhere with trying to talk to my parents through the Ishloviks.

I'd either have to go the police station or raise hell until I could talk to them.

Crap, James.

I grabbed my cell and dialed him.

He picked up before I could say a word.
"Rayne, I can't talk to you right now. Maybe tomorrow. I'll call you alright." He hung up...

"What happened?" Chace asked me, probably bouncing off of the quizzical look on my face.

"James said he can't talk to me. What the hell is going on? Freakaleek! Where's Dayna? I just left her in your house. Was her car even out there?"

I couldn't handle any more of this. My parents are doing unexplainable things, I'm an unxplainable thing, and I lost track of Dayna plus I can't talk to James. The only person I had was the son of a bastard ruler...

I looked up at Chace, who looked genuinely concerned. He was here because he actually cared, regardless of who he was in society.

"Thank you." I said in the silence.

"For what?" he asked with a small smile.

"For just being here since day one... I mean it really hasn't been that long, but you've been here for me and I might be extremely stupid for believing that you don't have ulterior motives anymore."

"I don't." he said, swallowing. He wasn't lying. I could tell, but this was still an obstacle for him. “You're really –.” He was interrupted by a door slam.

"Ugh. I seriously won’t be able to handle her right now." I said more to myself than to Chace. I listened as Lauraine stomped her way up the stairs.

"Of course you're with him." she said, barging into my room in tears. "You take everything that's mine! I'm supposed to be the only daughter of Natalie and Marques Bolivantic. No, but you're the one everybody goes on and on about at school, at parties, when we hang out! Chace was my boyfriend Rayne! Now he's in here hounding over you!" She hit the wall angrily. "You're not even their real daughter! You were found lost and alone, unwanted in the back of a club! You can't be the next in power! You can't be an heir! You're not blood! You're filthy and tainted and - "

Chace's hand was to Lauraine's throat.

I froze, not because of the boy hurting girl thing, as I stated before, that's not an issue. I froze because a knife fell from Lauraine's hand.

"Lauraine, what was that for?" I asked, shocked and surprisingly very hurt.

She was turning blue.

"Chace let her go." I said a little choked up.

She gasped for breath as he released his grip.

"Lauraine, I knew we were bad, really bad, but when I say I don't consider you my sister... God, we grew up together. Did you seriously... seriously throw me away after you thought I was human? Are all of these superficial reasons for hating me actually serious?" I was beginning to transition from sad to angry. "You came in here with that big ass silver knife to do what? You were really gonna try and kill me?"

Her face was impassive. She clenched her jaw.

"We both know you wouldn't have died." she said, void of emotion. "Only if I was lucky." She walked out of the room, leaving me with what felt like a huge blow to the body and mind.
