Chapter 17- Genox vs. Nina

“Fine. We'll go right to Round 2. Who wants to fight next?” Nina asked as Evangeline ran into another room, presumably to find something to quell her arm, which was gushing with blood. I looked over towards Alexi. She looked at me, with a face full of determination. She seemed pretty anxious to go next. I had no objects of course. She wanted a fight, she got it.

Before either of us could say anything, a voice spoke in the room. “Hey, ref. Me, and you. Right here, Right now. Then let Karen and Alice go next” Genox said, slowly rising to his feet. Did he just call me Karen? I'm going to kick his...

Suddenly, he stumbled, and fell over on top of the couch, where an unconscious Bruce had been moved to. He started giggling uncontrollably.

“Hi Barry!” Genox said to Bruce's unconscious form. “Isn't Barry cute? I think he's sexy.” he asked us. We simply stared at him. He seemed even more drunk than before, if that was even possible.

What about Charles?” Eva asked him, having returned, her arm wrapped in a makeshift tourniquet. She seemed highly amused by his drunken spectacle.

“FUCK Charles. Charles isn't Barry.” he retorted with some more giggling.

“Is it me, or is he more drunk than before?” I asked Eva. I wasn't crazy. He definitely had to have more to drink. I needed some sort of confirmation on this.

“He is. He ran to the pantry in the middle of Round 1. You were too busy watching the fight to notice. He's had about another bottle of that weird purple stuff.” Nina responded, pointing to a bottle that

lay tossed aside, away from the other three we had previously drank. Apparently he had been hoarding a fourth bottle for himself. Wow. Greedy bastard.

“Stop flirting with Nancy, Kieran. I have to kick her ass. Excuse me, Barry” he said, getting up off the couch. So now he gets my name right?

“Okay. So I guess it's Genox and me for Round 2. Evangeline, would you do the honors?” Nina asked as she walked to her side of the room. Genox stumbled over to his position. And Eva stood in the middle.

“Round 2- Genox vs. Nina, begin!” Eva announced, moving out of the way for the incoming fighters.

Genox was the first to attack. He sent a poorly aimed fireball in Nina's direction. But instead of hitting her, it flew over her head completely and hit the wooden floor. An ember began to engulf the floor in a small flame. Eva was quick to disperse any flames. Ah, the perks of being aquakinetic.

“Could you try to not burn us all to the ground?” Eva asked Genox sarcastically.

“Silence Evi” he commanded. She glared at him. Evi? He can't even remember a person's name, how the hell was he going to be any use in the ring? Hopefully he'll tag one of us before something bad happens...

Nina suddenly charged at Genox. It was time for a counterattack. She unsheathed her weapon, revealing a long, metal whip. Wow, a whip? Interesting choice for a weapon. Though how does she fight with it?

My question was answered as she waved the whip in a circle over her head. She spun it around, like the propeller of a helicopter.

“You're going to whip me? Yes. I've been a bad boy. Punish me!” Genox taunted her. Something tells me this wasn't the best idea. My suspicions were confirmed with a the sound of a large clanking of metal, emanating from the whip. Nina brought the spinning whip to a stop. Instead of the smooth, metal silver surface of the whip, Nina now wielded a large whip filled with sharp spikes.

“Fuck” was all Genox had time to mutter before she sent the end of the whip in his direction. She made direct contact, the spikes collided with Genox's stomach. That had to hurt...

Apparently, it didn't bother Genox, as he didn't even seem to notice the whip. He laughed it off, as the silver whip turned blood red. Why was he laughing...?

He quickly scooped up his abandoned bottle of alcohol. The alcohol! That must not be why he wasn't in pain... Wow. I guess fighting wasted had it's advantages. He set the bottle on fire, creating a makeshift Molotov cocktail, and he threw it at Nina.

She hurriedly retracted her whip from his stomach, taking bits of skin with it, and twisted her arm, sending the whip crashing into the flaming bottle, effectively halting Genox's attack. Damn. She's quite a proficent fighter, Granted, I should have considered that, given she's a demon hunter, but I guess her nice personality through me off...

“Genox, tag me!” I commanded, extending my hand. Nina turned her head towards me, presumably to see what was going on. Distracted by me, Genox was able to deliver a quick jab to Nina's face. She recoiled, surprised, and Genox took advantage of this moment, engulfing his hands in flames and delivering punches.

She took a few hits, and was back on the offensive, wrapping her whip around Genox, and pulling hard, knocking him on the floor, trapping him in the spiky web of the whip. His blood began to flow on the floor.

“Genox, are you okay?” Eva asked. He didn't answer. Instead he rose to his feet, ripping the whip out of his body, holding it tightly in his hand. He didn't flinch. I was amazed he was still standing. He once more engulfed his hand in flames. This time, the flames spread from his hand and onto the whip, engulfing it in flames. He sent it at Nina...

She removed gracefully out of the way. The whip connected with the floor, sending flames everywhere. The house began to catch on fire. He tried again, swinging the whip, and once more he missed. As Eva began to extinguish the flames, Nina hurriedly ran up the stairs, Genox and his flaming whip trailing behind.

Noises of fighting echoed throughout the house. Black smoke began to form from the top of the stairs. Flames formed, and began to spread out everywhere. Great, he set the house on fire.

“Let's get the hell out of here!” Eva yelled. Alexi seemed to agree, as she ran out the door, not saving a word.

“What about him?” I asked Eva pointing at the unconscious Bruce.

“Help me carry him” she said, sighing as she grabbed him. I obeyed, and we lugged him out of the house.

We carried him down the stairs. Alexi stood in the yard, watching Genox and Nina, who were now fighting in the yard.

“How the hell did they get out here?” I thought out loud. I wasn't expecting an answer, and I was surprised to hear Alexi answer:

“Nina threw him from a window. Unfortunately, he was fine. He landed in the snow.” she answered. She noticed us carrying Bruce, and asked, “Why are you rescuing him?” she asked, pointing at him.

“I got a better question, Why didn't you rescue him? He's your friend!” Eva asked, angered.

She chuckled. “Friend... He's not my friend. And since he was unable to kill you, he deserved to fry.” Damn. She's a fucking bitch.

Meanwhile, Genox and Nina continued fighting. Nina had somehow manage to regain her whip now extinguished, and she was clearly defeating Genox. Out of nowhere, Nina was sent flying into a metal fence by a very large figure. It was blue and scaly in appearance: Verin. He had tackled her.

Alexi charged at Verin, but was halted by the sudden appearance of Raikov. She pulled out a walkie talkie. “We've been compromised. Everyone, get over here now. The demons have accomplices. Everyone, get the fuck over here now!” she commanded into the communicator.

Raikov suddenly grabbed it and crushed it. “How did you find us?” he asked, sinisterly.

She ignored his question as a large black metal van charged in from down the road. It stopped in front of the house, and the doors opened, revealing more demon hunters. Nina wasn't kidding, they did have the place surrounded.

“We'll handle them, take Genox and go!” Raikov ordered, pulling out his dagger on Alexi. I quickly grabbed Genox and hoisted him over my shoulder. There was no way I was sticking around.

“No!” Eva yelled. “There's too many of them! We should stay and...”

“GO!” Verin yelled.

We ran into the backyard, hopped the fence, and ran...

Thanks. I was really worried that it wouldn't work well, as I'm not used to fighting scenes. But I;m glad you like it.
