She was wearing all white, riding a white mare, and even had pale, ivory skin. Her hair is as black as the darkest midnight and her eyes almost just as black. She had a mischievous smile on her face as she raced into the dense forest, looking back at a boy who looked her age, maybe a year or two older. His eyes were emerald green and he had blond hair. He wore a suit of armor that was colored black and gold. His left hip bore a long sword in a leather sheath. There was no doubt this boy was royalty. The girl, on the other hand, was unable to place.
"You won't catch up with me Kenneth!" She called back to the boy as she ducked under low branches and maneuvered her horse around trees and bushes.
"Don't count on it!" He yelled back, urging his horse to go faster until they were neck and neck.
They raced on until they reached a clearing where they halted their horses. The boy swung his legs around the back of the horse and hopped off. The girl started to do the same, but Kenneth rushed over to help her before she hurt herself.
"If my father were to find out about this, he'd have my head chopped off." The boy said, laughing and producing slices of bread, cheese, and goat milk from a pouch on his horse.
"He wouldn't do that, you're his only son. He'd have my head instead." The girl joked.
"I'm scared of that, Peg. If only I could make your family rich." The girl nodded in agreement when the boy stopped talking. They lapsed into silence as they watched the morning sun rise, enjoying their silent meal together.
