The last thing I remember was being numb from the blistering cold and falling asleep. I was heading north to get to my new job and my car got stranded in the blizzard. I decide to get out of my car and walk to get help, but then I got lost. The blizzard got worse, and everything just kept going downhill from there.

I wake up in front of a campfire. I sit up slowly and look at where I am. I’m in a cave of some kind. I look around and spot a wolf sleeping on the cave floor next to the fire. I wonder who brought me here?

I stand up to look for the person. That 's when the wolf wakes up. I step back scared. It stands up and walks towards me. Suddenly, it morphs into a man! I step away frightened and I fall to the floor.

“Good to see you awake.” He tells me with a smile.  He reaches to help me up.

“Don’t touch me.” I say scared.

“I’m not going to hurt you, kid.” He says annoyed. “Who do you think saved you?” He asks me with his hand still reaching out to me. I take his hand and he helps me up. “You shouldn’t have been walking around in a middle of a blizzard. It’s dangerous.” He tells me.

“Do you think I am idiot? I know it’s dangerous!” I snap at him.

“Yes, I do think you are an idiot. You could have waited the storm out. I’m sure many people has survived a blizzard staying in their car.” He fires back. A gust of wind blows into the cave. “Come on, we need to go deeper into the cave.” He says and lifts up a fire lit log and leads me deeper into the cave.

We climb deeper into the cave for about ten minutes until we get to a small cave room. There is a bed of hay next to a fire pit. The man brings the fire lit log over to the pit and sets it in there. There is a pile off dry logs against the cave wall. The man makes the fire bigger and it warms up the room.

“What’s your name?” I ask him as I stand awkwardly in the cave room.

“Ethan. How about you?” He asks as he sits on the bed of hay. He pats a spot next to him for me to sit down.

“Elizabeth.” I tell him and sit down next to him. “Is there any food here?” I ask him as my stomach starts to growl.

“We can get some food tomorrow. Hopefully the snow has let up by then.” He says to me. I shiver because a gust of cold hair has crept deep in the cave. Ethan puts more wood on the fire.

“What are you?” I ask him. This seems like a terrible dream. These things shouldn't exist.

“I’m a lycan.” He says and tosses a rock into the fire.

“So, after this storm, I get to go home right?” I ask him nervously.

“No.” He says to me. I look at him confused.

“What do you mean no?” I ask him.

“You know what I am, and I can’t afford to have my secret exposed.” He explains to me. I stand up upset.

“No, I have to go home. I have a job and a life! I won’t tell anyone! I promise!” I beg him.

“There is nothing that will change my mind Elizabeth.” He says staring into the fire.

“I will give you my word…” I say as I start to cry.

“No.” He says. There is no use arguing with him. Once we get out of here, I will find a way to get home.

I sit on the other side of the cave room away from Ethan. I sit there for hours trying to think of a plan to escape. Everything starts to get harder to think about because I am getting so cold.

I lie down and wrap my arms around myself to keep warm.

Ethan’s POV

I feel bad that Elizabeth has been brought into this. I didn’t want to let her die out there. I would have just brought her back to her car, but the storm was getting really bad. I had planned to find a girl to bring back home to the manor. Adrian and Nikolas are expecting me to bring them a "pet". Well, now that my searching is over with I guess I get to go home after all, but I know Adrian is expecting the girl to be tamed. She can't be frightened of us. She can't have a reason to run away. She has to trust us and keep our secret. I will just keep Elizabeth away from them for a while until I know for sure that she is the right girl.

Elizabeth sits far from me and thinks about ways to escape once we leave. There is no way that she will survive if she tries to escape. I lie down on the bed of hay and fall asleep.

I wake up and see that the fire is down to its embers.  I look over to Elizabeth and she is lying on the floor. I get up and walk over to her quickly. I feel her pulse and it is slow. Her skin is ice cold too. I pick her up and bring her to the bed of hay. I put more wood on the fire and it flares up to life. I lie down next to her and wrap my arms around her so my body heat can warm her up. Lycans’ have a higher temperature in their bodies than humans do.

There is nothing to do here other than sleep. I close my eyes and fall asleep.
