I walked down the halls of the school whispering quietly to myself “Ok…I have to get home...” “Hey Arien!”

I looked behind me too see Tiel running towards me, her blonde hair pulled back behind her head “Arien wait up!” I smiled casually “Hey, what do you need?” She stopped beside of me her bright white book bag lifted over her shoulder “I just wanted to walk back with ya, you doin anything tonight?” I growled walking on as my rough brown hair fell over one of my caramel tinted eyes “Yeah…A heck of a lot of studying.” Tiel laughed “Then a study slash sleepover it is!” I didn’t bother to look at her “Don’t bet on it.” She giggled “Hey, well your parents wouldn’t mind would th-” She stopped mid sentence, as my feet froze in place “Oh…Arien…sorry…I” I cut her off “It’s fine, you can come tonight.” Her face suddenly lit up, her hand snatching mine as she rushed to the school doors “Ok then lets go!”

My name was Arien obviously, and yeah my friend and I were exactly opposites. I wore a lot of black, and dark colors. She loved pink and light colors. I was into dark and depressing things. She loved teddy bears unicorns, and all of that. She wore makeup and tight clothes, but not me. She had two piercings; me…just one in my left ear. Tiel was scared of anything hated gory and scary movies and nearly fainted at the sight of blood. Me on the other hand, I loved scary movies, and the goriest ones didn’t faze me a bit, but none of this surprised me, I was also a stronger willed person, and very stubborn as well.

Even our body figures were different, she had more of the flat pole figure…me? Well I had curves, but you could never tell considering my baggy clothing. So how did we end up together? Well my parents died a few years ago, and I had worked hard to keep the big house, staying at several jobs. Tiel and I meet at a nearby clothes store. She was shopping in the colors, me in the blacks, and she came over to me and I still remember what she said.

“Wow are you Goth?”

“What, no?”

“You look just like one!”

“Ok?”

“I’ve always wanted to meet one!”

“…What?”

“What’s your name?”

“Arien…”

And strangely that’s how it started ever since then we’ve been really close.

The day passed and both of us reached my house in a matter of minutes. My house was pretty big, two floors, two bathrooms, two kitchens, two bedrooms, and one big living room. She was the first to reach the doors, slinging them open and carelessly throwing her bag on the couch “Yes! I love this place!” I sighed scooping the paper off of the front porch before I shut the doors “Yeah, whatever…” She laughed falling backwards on the couch, breathing in deeply “Lets what a movie tonight k? Its already getting dark!” I growled throwing my bag against the cough “We came to work remember we have a lot to do, and you still have to call your parents and tell them you’re here.” She pouted, curling up into a ball like a kid “Ok…can I use your phone?”

“Sure, ones in the upstairs kitchen another in the downstairs”

“Ok….” She said lazily pulling herself off the couch “I call them, but can you set everything up while I’m gone, I want to get it down to have time for the movie.” I laughed as she paced through the kitchen hallway unzipping my book bag as she dialed her mom’s number. I laid all of our books on the living room table removing a few pencils from our bags, before locking the door.

It didn’t take Tiel long before she ended the call and returned to the living room sitting quietly down beside of me “They said yes, but be careful.”

“About what?”

“I don’t know she said some murders have been happening in this neighborhood lately.”

I snickered “Oh you don’t look so scared.”

“I know I’ve been practicing!”

I chuckled an evil grin crossing my face “Did she tell you all of the victims were young girls about our age?”

She shook her head now seeming more alert “No.”

“Did she tell you that all of them were in ripped clothes and drained of blood?”

“N-no”

“What about the fact that they had two holes on their necks, and it was said they died at about midnight?”

“Ah quit!” I laughed. I really wasn’t lying and she knew that. “Don’t worry we’re safe here…but if you think about it, that was a really weird murder…no blood left…it reminds me of Dracula.” Her eyes gave me a pleading look “Please stop! I wanna study now!”

I shrugged “What? I thought you hated it.” She grabbed a math book plopping it into her lap “Come on!” I laughed again and reached out for my book, but froze in place when the lights flickered and went black.

I winced hearing Tiel scream. “Hey Tiel shut up it’s just a power outage. “Oh…s-sorry.” I grabbed her hand “Hey…ok here you are, I’m going to look at the power box outside k?” I felt her shaking “No it’s dark outside…what if” I cut her off again “Chill out, ill be fine, be right back.” I stood up, and slowly her hand slid from mine “K just wait.” I slowly moved to the door, and lifting the emergency flashlight from the latch on the wall then I opened the door, and walked out. It didn’t take me long to reach the power box. Quickly, I flipped it open, to see a cut wire oddly twisted into a weird shape “Oh perfect, stupid pranks.” I grabbed the wire and fiddled with it for a moment, and eventually I saw the light flicker back on in the house. Then something came to me, something I was stupid not to notice. I opened the door to get outside…I opened the unlocked door…to get outside…the already unlocked door.
