Dr. Schultz leaned back in his comfty looking recliner and smiled in triumphant. "Lay on your back with your arms at your side and close your eyes." he opened his mouth to continue but I interrupted him. "Isn't that what I'm doing? Doc, always stating the obvious."
He ignored me by raising his voice, "STAY PERFECTLY STILL. You must stay awake your brain will send signals to your body to see if you are ready to sleep." a minute had gone by and I was feeling itchy. I tried to move my body a certain way and tried to blink but I was unable to. Rather frustrating if you'd ask me. I guess he noticed me twitch some because his voice rose a notch. "YOU MUST IGNORE ALL OF THE IMPULSES. ALL OF THEM JESSICA, LET YOURSELF BE." twenty to thirty minutes later I felt some kind of pressure in the middle of my chest. Was it me or did I hear a whispered noise? "You are now in a sleep paralasis, if you open your eyes you will begin to hallucinate - dream with your eyes open - and you will not be able to move your body." My eyes were stripped open, tape was being placed on my eyelids to keep them that way. I saw the face of the Dr. Schultz before it happened. "Your body now is completely asleep. Now that you are aware that you are dreaming, you can shut your eyes" at this point he peeled the tape away from my eyelids "and begin to dream instantly. You will be fully aware that you are dreaming," I felt myself detatch my body and begun to float to a standing position besides the doc and me. "and can now control your dreams."
I smiled down at the doc who rested his head in his hands. He seemed to look tired. I patted his shoulder with a quite transparent hand. "It's okay Doc, you did it!"
Behind me, I heard the whispers again.
Then a growling, and when I turned towards the noise...I was met face to face with a huge black wolf. His paws were twice the normal size with huge talons, his muzzle gaping open showing off his huge pointy yellow teeth. Drool dripped from the side of muzzle to the hardwood floor. His humanly eyes - green as emeralds - stared at me with inteligence. His tail paused at mid whip. "Crap." was my last muttered word.
The wolf charged.
