It hurts whenever I touch the bruises. The bruises my mother gives me. Ever since my father died, she has been beating me up mecilessly. And nobody knows. I have just ran into my room from another beating. I am not going to take this. I will not ever, ever again be beatin' up my own damn mother. "Oh, ANNIE!!!" my mother yells sweetly and evily from outside of the door. I gasp at the sudden scream. Thank God my father put a lock there when I turned 13. I hear a cracking noise and I instantly look at the door. My mother brought out her biggest kitchen knife she could own! I go to the opposite end of the door. I lean against it, hoping there was a miracle and I would sink through. But no. There are splinters everywhere on the floor. The middle of the door has been cut into half and my mother is cutting the door into pieces to get through. I lean against the wall so hard, that my back aches from the hardness. My mother came into the room with the kitchen knife in her hand. She throws it across the West side of my room and it doesn't land onto the ground, instead, it stick to my closet door. "Come here you little.." my mother says while grabbing my neck with one hand. I could feel my feet slowly lifting off the ground. I fling my feet around and my mother holds onto my neck harder and tighter. My eyes well up with tears as I feel everything going numb from the neck down. My mother flings me to the ground in the living room. I couldn't even catch my breath when I felt a fist punch my eye, hard. I slide across the wooden floor and my mother chases after me. My head hit the small wooden door used to close small certain areas and I saw blond strands of hair fall in front of my face. I winced as my mother held onto the top of me head, hair in her hand. She bangs my head against the door several times before blotches of red are all over the floor. I start seeing black, then a light. 'No..' I whisper in my head, 'No..'. I could feel the pain coming back to me as the light fades. "AUGHHH!" I scream out loud. I hold onto my head and I feel a punch on my face. But I still kept screaming. "Shut the FUCK up!" I hear her voice say. I try my best to stop screaming but it all came out as whimpers. I feel myself getting carried. I hear the water echoing against the walls as my mother walks through it. She throws me onto the cold, hard concrete and I moan. She beats me up, until I see the light again. I take slow, long steps which seems like miliseconds. I am about to reach the light until I feel something biting me. I come back to reality and feel a small figure on my shoulder. I see a bat in front of me. "What the-" I say, but then I screamed because agonizing pain spreaded throughout my whole body. I could feel myself changing...
I fell into a deep sleep. I realized it when I awoken. I'm in a sewer..With a bat perched on my arm. A BAT? I scream out and the bat's eyes flutter to life. "Hello there." the Bat says while flying in front of me. I scream some more and mumble things like 'I'm dead, i'm dead' or 'I must be dreaming..'. "It's rude to mumble in front of a guest who's waiting for your response." the Bat says. "Oh! Sorry, my name's Annie. OMG I'M TALKING TO A BAT? I MUST'VE LOST IT.." I said. I felt stupid. I had no family, i'm alone with a maybe-talking bat and i'm..Why aren't I cold? I'm in a sewer, in the water, sitting down too. "Why aren't I cold maybe-talking bat?" I asked. So what? If you were in my position right now, you'd also like a companion.
"That's because you're a half bat, half human."
"You mean a vampire?"
"What's that?"
"It's what we humans call half bats and half human things. Except it's a myth."
"...A myth?"
"A myth is something...Not real..It can't be real..Like, when someone tells you there're a pack of werewolves, half human, half wolves, everybody'd think it's a myth."
"HA! Nice one about the werewolves! Except it's NOT a myth! HAHAHAHA!"
"...Why are you laughing? Huh?"
"No." Bat said while choking back laughter. "Every bat could make a... What you humans call... A 'Vampire' anytime. We're wise enough to make our choices. I was wise enough to save you."
"You..Saved me?"
"Yes, I did. Your welcome."
"Thanks."
"So..I'm not dead?"
"No, you are not."
"Then i'm a..."
"Vampire."
