"Miss Ruby Kitterton!" My English teacher, Mr Heath, smacked his book down on my desk and I jumped. "Have you paid the slightest bit of attention in this entire class?" I nodded feebly but it was an utter lie. I hate English, and will always hate English. It is so dull! We were reading the play 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by Shakespear. It is apparently a comedy but I hadn't laughed once. I am so much better at art, I can just lose myself in my drawings and paintings, not a care in the world. "Well Miss Kitterton, what is the name of Hermia's lover?" I scanned my sheet desperately trying to find the right name, "Demetrius?" I looked hopefully at him but he shook his head.

"Wrong!" He stalked over to the whiteboard and tapped in incessantly, "Lysander! Hermia's lover is Lysander!" I nodded and tried to look interested, like I totally understood now. "Yes sir," I nodded once more, and proceeded to note this into my jotter.

Finally the bell rang for the end of the day, we finished nice and early on a Friday, and I walked outside to catch my bus with Emma, my best friend. She chattered away about something or other while I gazed over at a beautiful sight, John Hallwood. He was one of the most gorgeous boys in my entire year at school! A lot of girls liked him, including me. I wasn't exactly 'popular' at school, I just kept myself to myself, this meant a guy like him wouldn't like a girl like me. "So are you still coming ice skating later Ru?" Emma was telling me how John was also going that night and how I just have to go! I pretended to be indifferent but really I was bursting with excitement on the inside. "Yes of course! Four o'clock, right?" She shouted something that sounded like yes at me and I gave her a quick wave as I climbed up the stairs to get onto my bus.

I was dreading having to tell her my news. I was meant to be moving in one week! I moved from the east coast of Scotland, over here to the west, when I was only five because my mum and I had to get away from my alcoholic father and his relentless fists, I won't go into detail. Anyway, my mum met this new guy called Harvey, I don't like his name but he is ok I suppose, and we moved in with him and now his job was making us move to the highlands of bloody Scotland! So I still had to tell Emma and I just couldn't find the words to do so. I didn't know how she would react but I could only imagine it would be completely negative.

When I got home, nobody was in yet, there were boxes everywhere, stacked to the ceiling! Nobody would be in before five but I would be long gone, at the ice rink, by then.
