"Will you stop fidgeting Aubrey, we will be there soon you goof." I heard Zack snap at Aubrey.

"I know, I guess I'm just nervous."

We had left the mansion about 4 hours ago to Markus's home in the northern area of Canada. Most humans don't even live near the Lord or his Vampires. But, I figured this as a good thing. Less, humans, less death. It's that simple and being in a barren cold wasteland is okay for me.

We were riding in a hummer limo while Mavin, Reeve and Aiden followed behind us in a big, fancy, gas sucking suburban.

Elijah stayed back at the mansion to cover the grounds and secure the home. He was also going to find out more information about my markings.

We had everything we needed packed and ready to do. Damien was acting cranky the whole night before. I knew he didn't want to go and I knew he didn't want to celebrate his birthday. The celebration ball was tomorrow night and so was his birthday. Hopefully I could get him to calm down tonight and put a smile on his face.

While we were in the limo I had fallen a sleep next to Damien with my head on his shoulder. Okay, I'll admit it. I did sort of force myself close to him when I had my eyes closed. I couldn't help it!

So, now he had me in his lap, with his arms wrapped around me lightly and my nose was nuzzled underneath his chin. I was just waking up once I heard Zack and Aubrey talking across from us.

I opened my eyes and let out a yawn. Damien was throwing both of them a glance for waking me up.

"Have a nice nap?" He chuckled while moving the hair away from my cheek.

I thought about me hugging up to his chest.

"Yes…yes I did." I smiled while tapping his collarbone.

I then glanced at Zack and Aubrey. They looked so cute. He had his hand locked with hers while they talked quietly with each other. Zack would smile while Aubrey over exaggerated her fun stories. I knew he always liked her.

This made me want to talk with Damien alone. No worries, no drama, or problems. I just wanted to talk about me and him. That would be perfect to me. I gave him and kiss on the cheek.

His vibrant yellow eyes turned to me with slight surprise.

"What was that for?"He asked lightly.

"No reason."

He smiled, revealing his straight white teeth before kissing my forehead.

"You're adorable Serenity Love." He said which made me smile. Yay, I got him to smile!

After that I glanced out the window. Everything looked so beautiful and untouched. There were huge snow capped mountains and thick forests. There were no towns, or cities here. I knew we were way up north. There were so many stars and they shined so brightly in the night sky.

I turned my head to make sure the suburban was still behind us. They were all there.

Maven was driving while reading some kind of magazine. How he was still driving perfectly, I did not know. Aiden was sitting next to him while picking his nose. I had to roll my eyes at that. Reeve seemed to be sleeping in the back with his shades still on. I swear he never takes those damn things off.

"Alright, we are finally stopped." I heard Zack say. I hadn't even noticed that the limo had completely came to a halt. Zack gave the driver and the vampire servant sitting next to him a nod before opening the hummer door.

"Um, why did we stop?" I couldn't help but ask. We were in the middle of nowhere.

By this time Zack and Aubrey had already left the limo. I immediately felt a semi cold draft while the doors were open. I was only wearing jeans and a white long sleeved shirt.

Damien started to unzip his jacket. He placed it around my shoulders and motioned me to put it on. I didn't argue but I wanted answers. I watched as he grabbed some thick blankets off the limo's floor.

"Are we taking another nap or getting down in the limo together?" I asked curiously. Damien immediately sent me a look.

"Behave Serenity."

"What? A girl can dream." I joked while he began to wrap the blankets around me as many times as possible. By the time he was done I looked like a damn Eskimo.

Now I was just getting annoyed.

"Damien, Is this really necessary. What are we even doing?" I sighed. He stood in front of me and placed his hands on my shoulders.

"We need to cross the high mountains to get to Markus's home in the lower mountains. You are human and I'm making sure you are as warm as possible." He said seriously. I nodded soon after that.

"Thanks for the warning." I said sarcastically. His next moved made me smile. He wrapped a blanket around his bare arms and then picked me up into a bridal style form. After that he wrapped his blanket around the both of us.

"Won't you get cold?" I asked.

He looked down at me as if that was a dumb question. It took me a few moments to realize it was.

"O yeah….never mind." I said and glanced over at the rest of the vampires. They were all dressed in their normal clothing.

Everyone started to sprint through the heavy forests towards the close by mountains. With Damien in the front, I could already feel the air getting cooler and cooler by the seconds.

"Maybe you should go so sleep again. This might take a little while." Damien told me over the wind. We past a clear blue lake and it looked so beautiful.

"I'll try." I mumbled and he held me tighter into his chest.

And so I did.

When I awoke about a half hour ago the scenery had totally changed. There were no longer forests really. It was heavy snow and huge mountains. My lungs were already hurting from the different land elevations. My teeth were chattering at this point and my body would not stop shaking. I was trying to look tough earlier but I just gave up. The cold was to much to handle.

Damien was worried about me I could tell. He kept looking at me with pained eyes. There was nothing he could do though.

"I'm sorry about this…" He said while we walked through a chick chunk of snow.

"It'sss…n..n..ot…tt….you..rrr… f..f…ault" I tried to say. He didn't say anything back.

Soon after that Zack had taken the lead by walking a head of us. He knew this place better than all of us since he used to work for Markus.

He pointed off to the right indicating that's where we had to go.

I was about to try and go to sleep again until I saw a snowball go bolting through the cold air.

It hit Zack right in the back of his spiky black head. Of coarse Aiden came running up next to us laughing in hysterics. He walked coolly next to us, dressed in jeans, black shirt, and white button up.

"You should see your face right now Zack! HAHAHA!" Aiden practically cried with laughter.

Zack was glancing evilly at him with his nostrils flared out. His brown eyes looked like they were piercing Aiden's soul.

"I can't wait to see your face after I'm done with you!!" Zack howled and ran after him. Within an instant he had Aiden tackled onto the snow bank.

I couldn't help but laugh through my chattering teeth.

"Alright that's enough you two!" I heard Reeve say and pull them apart off the ground.

Mavin and Aubrey were both laughing with each other. Even Damien was smiling.

Everyone started to walk again. We walked for another mile and I honestly thought my arms and legs were going to fall off my body.

"Don't worry, we're here." I heard Damien whisper to me as I pressed my head into his chest even harder to stop the wind from hitting my face.

I quickly looked ahead and gasped. He was right…

In the distance there was a huge old white castle with teal roofs. It rested on a small mountain top. It looked to have at least ten levels to it. It had five big towers on it and a bunch of smaller ones around the bigger ones. In the front of the castle was a large stone deck and garden area. It looked like he could have the celebration outside the castle if Markus wanted to. Stone steps led around to the front of the castle. It seemed so old but very elegant. I could tell Markus likes to throw parties.

"It's beautiful!!" I gasped over the cold air. At least it was easier to breath here.

"Yeah, he likes to keep it old fashion…and go a little overboard." Damien laughed while we started to walk up the stone steps and through the gates.

"I can tell." I said while eyeing every part of the castle with wide eyes.

The guards eyed us silently while we walked up to the large white main doors.

A vampire servant opened the door and greeted us. Once again my mouth fell open. It was so warm and inviting. There were giant chandeliers and golden rugs with burgundy colored flowers. Big, old paintings covered the thick, shiny wooden walls. There was one big staircase that we were standing in front of. A gold rug ran down all the steps. On each side of the staircase were two stone fireplaces. Both were lit and I could already feel the heat on my skin.

I finally saw Markus standing at the top of the steps with his arms spread out wide evenly.

"Welcome my friends."
